Menards - Red Wing, MN

A classic customer service experience at Menards...
I wanted to purchase a rolling tool cabinet. The Menards website indicated they had 1 in stock. After driving to the store and speaking with an employee, I was informed that the in-stock item was the display. He told me they couldn't sell me the display and the item could only be ordered online. Although that was a bit frustrating, I understand not being willing/able to sell the display item. Upon returning home, I proceeded to order the product online for in-store pickup. About an hour later, much to my surprise, I was notified that my order was ready. When I picked up the order the next day, the employee confirmed that I had indeed received the display item I had seen the day before and had already attempted to purchase.

To quote my 3-year-old daughter who accompanied me on this adventure: "Dad, why would they not sell you this one day and then would sell you it another day? That's very confusing..."

A literal 3 year old has more customer service common sense than the team at Menards. Well done.

One checkout open. I was 6/7th in line. An older lady opened up another register and said maybe get off your phone and pay attention. Before she even opened up a line. Absolutely ridiculous comment to make. Felt like she was trying to embarrass me or make an example out of me. Maybe she should've apologized for letting a line form or for the fact that there was one cashier open. Wish I could say next time I'll stay off my phone and just watch the employees stand around. However I will not be back here again. Do yourself a favor go to a local lumber yard or builder supply. They will appreciate your business.

Love Menards store! wish they were located all over the US! I love their kiosk that you can turn items to and they will give you a store credit if it's been over a certain amount of time.. Employees are helpful and friendly. Would rather go here than any of the other big box. Home improvement stores because they are located in the midwest.

There have been several times when I have wanted to purchase ahead and pick up my items. Ridiculous “processing fee” . In other words Menards wants their customers to pay their employees wages. No thanks. And the amount is ridiculous. I will shop elsewhere. Their shippping costs are outlandish, too.

I would have given a zero but Google maps doesn't allow it. This place deserves a zero because there was no one around to help. I walked the whole length of the store and there were no employees to help me. The only people I saw were cashiers and a person behind an information desk and she was of no help because she didn't know where things were. I had a large shopping list of items that I needed and no one was around to help me find them. I will take my business elsewhere. I'm sick of Menards and their lack of service.

Today (August 14, 2023) I ordered a storm door to be delivered and the wrong size was delivered to me. I called Menards and got no answer from the door department. The phone just kept on ringing. Does anybody answer phone calls there? I would hope that they would have more than one person working in that department. I now have to order another door to be delivered hoping that it is the correct size (36 and not a 34) will be delivered this time. I hope that when the delivery is made they will take the old one back and reimburse me for it including delivery since the wrong door was delivered.

Beautiful & clean store. However, it was difficult to locate things as a first time visitor. Whatever happened to full service check-out?

It was fun to go in and look around and see all the good cheap stuff and deals for us and they are also always delicious. Like the chocolates and chocolate cream chocolate chip cookies yummy indeed lol

Enjoyable, got what I needed. Wish they consolidated clearance items. There are bicycle tents for 15$. Great 1 person tents. Get b4 they gone

Clean well organized. Staff are helpful and friendly, Always have what I am looking for. Good selection of decorations for most holidays.

They have good prices on most items. Plus they also have 11% instore rebate. On everything. I would give 5 stars but their lumber is not always high quality

Very good experience today. The salesperson was very helpful and knowledgeable. We were looking for a microwave and I was pleasantly surprised to find someone that was so knowledgeable.

Went in to get some framing nails got the nails and got checked out and I’m heading out the door and a younger woman says have a good day to me and I don’t respond because I’m in rush and she says under her breath “or not” like seriously if you’re gonna do that either keep it in your head or don’t say it so loud that I can hear you

Sally was so unfriendly at customer service. Completed the transaction, but I hope her life gets better. I’ve had 3 rude interactions in the last 3 days. Life ain’t that bad. Good luck!

Adam in the flooring department is AWESOME. He’s helpful, efficient and so nice. This is the second roll of carpet I’ve gotten in the past month or so. First roll he didn’t have any in stock, but promptly looked up when the next shipment was coming in. The day it came in he got it measured, cut, and called to let me know it was ready. If you want carpet, he’s your guy.

As a Texan I have never experienced the greatness of Menards...until today. They have EVERYTHING...For the uninitiated, think Home Depot with a grocery store in it. Loved it.

I had to fix up some parts of my wall and the gentleman at the paint counter was really helpful and got me the paint that I needed. The registers went by extremely fast and they wipe down the keypad after each use. (If you need them to color match paint make sure to bring a 1inX 1in piece)

Was at menards looking for a heater. Went and asked the employee working right next to us where the heaters should be and he said he will call someone over to help find it. After waiting 30 minutes, I went back to the guy and showed him it on my phone and asked if he can just tell us what aisle it was in. He then told us to go up the stairs, across the cat walk, all the way down on the right. Once we got up there nothing was labeled, just a bunch of brown boxes. After searching upstairs for almost 30 minutes I had to call someone to come up there and help us meanwhile that same gentleman was sitting at the computer……super unhelpful, very disrespectful and exactly why people would rather pay more to shop somewhere else. Home Depot will forever get our business.

Absolutely worthless. That’s my review of Menards of Red Wing customer service I bought a TroyBuilt TBWC23XP this afternoon owned it two hours and it broke . Piece of plastic part broke and wouldn’t engage the throttle cable and the mower wouldn’t run. Called and talked to a front end manager and was told because it had gas and oil in it they wouldnt take it back .These things don’t come with oil in them we have to fill them to use them. Wouldn’t even help me with a part..Nothing....and this piece of junk didn’t even come with oil it was supposed to come with..I’ll never go back and I’ll never buy anything from menards again. Every chance I get I’m going to give the best publicity I can to let the everyone how terrible your customer service is.

Never anything you are looking for. Sales are a scam.
Do you know what trim window and door paint is bcuz the paint specialist I talked to told me it doesn't exist. Let's see what else. $10 more a gallon for the primer. Did I mention electric section .wow. can I get a single gang box. No bcuz they have been out for months 2x4 =$6 bring your board straightener.
I recently buy some LED lights the first set came with batteries but they were dead ? Nope the lights just dont work bought a separate lantern type with long lasting battery - once fully charged barely makes it from the plug to the corner of the room bcuz the battery is dead. This is an example of the quality of your products.
Go get a sheet of sheetrock and you tell me if it is worth the 1 hour it is going to take as you 1st have to go to the furthest point from entry to get a ticket go to the checkout to pay drive to the yard find and acquire your busted up sheetrock and then exit the yard that is 1 hr minimum

I love that Menards sells so many American made products but the covid inspired factory closures are leaving store shelves bare. The Last Place on Earth that doesn't provide free masks to customers. Bring your own or pay admission. That's kind of annoying

Took my sister to red wing MN today to shop at Menard. She has MS which makes it quite difficult for her to get around. We walked in to find no scooters were available. We asked the guy at the counter if he would call the other end to see if one was down there. He said there was ONE & it was being used. Are you kidding me!!! We left & won't be back!

I got what I needed at a reasonable price the staff was helpful and friendly.
An overall great experience. Another great experience for me.
