Great store! I stopped in to look for sprays to kill the Japanese beetles. The Ames location had many choices, so I found just what I was looking for! I also found a very well-made windchime. Very happy!!! I highly recommend Menards. It's one of my favorites!

I visited this ames location on July 3rd around 4:30. Ordered wood and rebar. Was told everything was in the lot in the back. We went back and the rebar wasn't even back there and the wood was chipped and bent. Then when we were looking for the rebar, some kid nearly ran us over with the forklift when he whipped it around on two wheels. Very disorganized location. Probably should get forklift certified

I needed a garden tool and cage so I parked down by the garden center...walk up and...door closed. Saturday. Decided not to walk a mile round trip from the far west side to the GC and back to my car. BTW, Menards 11% rebate is a joke... Mail it in then wait for rebate then MAYBE remember to bring it in. Ditch the gimmick and just mark everything down 11%. I left lot and went to Lowes.

Went to pick up an order that I had. It said to walk through the store unless you have a disability card. I do have that, but the gate guard would not allow me to pass. I had to go and walk into the store to get a scooter. Then I had to go to the back and pick up my order. I would think that he would have been informed of the disability clause. I talked to the manager who said he would talk to the gate guard. I hope he does to avoid this in the future.

I came to Menards 1 day after the sale flyer ended and they would not honor the sale price for mulch. Every other store I have been too will honor their sale prices a few days before or after the sale ended. The managers here are also extremely rude and do not care about customer service!

Five Stars for Menards – and Ten Stars for Myles!

I drove an hour to the Ames Menards because I’ve always heard their customer service is top-tie and let me tell you, it shows. The leadership at this store clearly prioritizes service, and that was on full display when I met Myles, who turned what was shaping up to be a six-hour plumbing nightmare into a 30-minute miracle.

I came in with a plumbing puzzle that involved reducing pipe sizes, increasing them around corners, and somehow landing it all into a water tank on my farm. It was like a Sudoku made of PVC. And here comes Myles—not even from the plumbing department (he's in merchandising, of all places!)—stepping in like he’s been building pipe mazes since birth.

With the patience of a monk and a demeanor so calm I think my blood pressure dropped just talking to him, he walked me through the entire process, made sure I had the right parts, and even taught me a thing or two in the process.

This is where Menards beats Amazon. Amazon gets you what you want, Myles gets you what you need even if he’s not technically supposed to be in that aisle.

Menards: give this man a raise, a superhero cape, and possibly a statue near the plumbing section. He earned it.

I purchased lamps online and did not like them and wanted to return them to the Menards in Ames. They will not accept them because they were purchased online and came from Burlington and Minneapolis. They expect me to drive to those locations to return these lamps. I will never ever buy anything again from Menards for the service. It’s ridiculous.

Mastercraft® 30"W x 80"H Primed Steel 6-Panel Exterior Door System - Left Inswing

You'd think a pre-hung door could manage to match the door handle and deadbolt from the door to the pre drilled holes in the frame, right? You'd be wrong! I certainly was. I had to chisel and re-drill the frame so that the door could latch and lock. What fun!

The nice thing about this store is that the layout is so insane that you will get your steps in for the day if you have to go here for more than one item. So...there is a silver lining.

Had 16 boards that were 10’-12’ long. I am late 50’s female. I was struggling to load and strap down into truck bed. Menards employee walked past walked around waiting to take the cart. I hadn’t even cleared the cart 100% with last 2 boards when he grabbed it and took back to the store. We are a small home builder 2 houses a year. Reasons like this is why most of our lumber the last 4 houses came from 1st source lumber. Won’t be back for a while if I can use Lowe’s or Home Depot instead.

Never been treated so rude and awkwardly. And for no reason. Cashier barricaded me in and locked a big wide green door, like i was going to try to run out of there with my markers and magnets when I was trying to check out. Absolutely ridiculous, and they weren't doing this to the many other customers. I asked her why, if they were getting ready to close or what. She said no and just kept staring at me. Super awkward. The other cashiers were all hanging around too like they were waiting to pounce. Ive never been treated like such a criminal piece of crap in my life. I'll never set foot in this store again.

By far the best home improvement store in the area. Always well stocked and happy to help you. I use them almost daily on my personal house or in my contracting business. But I will never use them again if I have to have something shipped from the store to a jobsite. First time the interior doors I ordered, half of them were broken upon arrival to the jobsite and it put out job back almost a month. Luckily I had other work lined up to move my crew over and Menards covered the damages and replacements, otherwise I would’ve lost major money. Second time the driver didn’t show up and my materials were pushed back a day. The third and final time that I will ever use their ship from store feature, when I ordered online I selected the delivery for Thursday so the materials would be present when my crews arrive on Friday AM. I get a call from Menards telling me that they can’t do Thursday but they can do Friday. I responded I needed to be the first delivery and have it by 8. Friday AM comes around and I don’t have my materials. Finally when we run out of work at noon and the end of the delivery window I was in, I decided to call. Was told the driver had some stuff come up and that it will probably be an hour or so until he gets here. So my crew is out of work for the time being, I’m paying for lunch and their unworkable half hour due to not having anything no else to do. Add that to the fact that it’s almost $200 for a delivery and I will not be coming back. I have multiple suppliers who consistently reach out and wanting my business and all have promised no delivery fee.

Great store for the homeowner, but never once have been called by a pro desk member and asked how I’m doing or how they can help and they charge an insane amount for delivery. My company will not be back for a while.

This Menards has been a go to for all my plumbing jobs needs. Shirley was a team player and a good sport about having to rescan close to 100 fittings mixed with pvc, black iron and pex. I know this probably wasn’t fun for her but she had a positive attitude the whole time.

Menards are nearly all the same, so the difference is in the service and people. Always have great people at this location. Chris in electrical, Cory in special orders. Not only do these people always have a smile on their face, but they are happy to help and value you as a customer.

Robert was the biggest ghost help to me tonight at Menards!! I needed a high pressure nozzle for our garden hose...after one phone call (the guy was from hardware and said the only thing like that was in with pressure washer). I went in today to get help with a small project. I got someone in the boards section to help me. He obviously hated his job and life. Not only did I not get help, but he literally walked off on me in mid conversation. Thank god I ran into Eliot who was amazing, friendly and very helpful. Do better menards with your employees

Every store in every state is set up the same so you know exactly where everything is at. It’s not like a Walmart, they always have plenty of cashiers to check you out.

Saturday, June 24th 3:45. Used a rebate check. Plus had a receipt showing a credit from a previous rebate check for 5.68. When I got that receipt the cashier took original card and said to present the receipt in the future for the remainder credit. Did that and two females said they would need to check the cameras from the original transaction instead of just running the bar code. I don't have time to wait for you to run through your video and be treated like a thief. The woman snarkily said they were trying to help me when I said your customer service is horrible. I have a receipt. No one is trying to steal 5.68. Do better. Train your staff!

Nate (younger kid blonde curly hair) working customer service tonight shouldn’t have a job with the public. I walked in to return a water faucet and literally before I even made it to customer service counter he was calling me a thief and accusing me of stealing. His actual first words to me were “Did you steal that.” He told me I was a liar and didn’t purchase it there and said I stole it. Even once I produced my receipt showing I bought it that very morning he still kept going on about how he was in the right. So moral of the post is don’t walk into Menards trying to return something or this guy is gonna go on an ego trip saying you stole it even though you have the receipt.

Probably bought $20,000 worth of materials from Menards over the past 6 months as we are building a home....went to return 1 extra shelf bracket that had a scratched bar code this morning without a receipt. Just wanted store credit as I was going to pick up other materials. Older lady at the returns counter was not nice and refused and since I really didn't need it, I left it at the counter and told her to add it back to their shelves only to have her throw it in the trash and make a snarky comment a moment later. Interacted with her before, but when I was wearing nicer work clothes and was treated very differently. Going to start doing more business with Lowes....management might want to put her through customer care training. Unfortunately I didn't get her name, but she works the counter virtually every Saturday morning. NOT cool Menards....you definitely lost more than five dollars over this.

We drive 1 hr 20 min to come to Menards, we do it very often since we are home remodeling, and we are now starting to remodel my sister's home but today was the last time we do our shopping here. 4 months ago we ordered cabinets and counter top, the cabinets came 2 months later, I had asked the lady incharge for plain white cabinets she mentioned that Medallion's whitest white was Icing white, my cabinets arrived a cream color and incomplete since the delivery company or warehouse lost our pantry so we had to wait 1 more month for the pantry. Anyway I tried to call and figure out why my cabinets came the wrong color, well truns out the color that was recommended as the whites white at Menards was not the whitest that Medallion offers, a derect employee of Medallion confirmed that their whitest white is Sea Salt, NOT Icing white, despite the big mistake, we decided not to make a big deal about, that until our counter top came and it's is totally not what we ordered, I personally took Michaela Woods and her co-worker and pointed out the design of counter top I wanted. For some reason they decided to pick a different one for me.... All I can think of is that she accidentally clicked on the wrong item. She failed to go over the papers she had printed for us and failed to tell us to check the papers to make sure everything was correct, my husband and I were so disappointed because we thought we were trusting a professional. They did not fix anything for us or will not accept they screwed up our order, they said it was our fault for not checking the paperwork even though they are supposed to select what the customer chooses and they need to double check, they are the "professionals" there. We spent over 23 thousand there and the only thing there is to do is to pay a 25% restocking fee, which its about $600 for returning the counter top. Be very careful because you will specifically tell them what you want but they will choose something else for you and will blame it on you for signing the "purchase agreement". We trusted the lady with our selections and she was not careful when entering it on her computer. I am beyond disappointed and upset because I paid so much for what they wanted to give me. She also lied to the store Manager and told him she whent over the sale agreement which she did not do. That day she still said Icing white is the whitest color of Medallion when it has been confirmed by Medallion that it is not. She should not be incharge of that department for sure. Will not be back to a Menards!

I've been driving by here the last 2 years while dropping my daughter off at ISU. I finally managed to stop by. The store is very impressive and has a lot of stuff inside. Unfortunately the employees they do have, if you can find one have absolutely no idea where anything is. Very disappointing...
