Menards - Michigan City, IN

I am rating this store poorly, my boss went into store to buy salt for work and ask for help loading it and was told they don’t offer this service. She is a 60+yr old woman and they are 50 pound bags and you can’t tell there was nobody in the whole store to help her. Next time will go to Lowe’s where you can purchase on line and someone will bring it right to car. I am a loyal Menards shopper but shame on you, I might not be if this is the way you treat customer after they ask for help.

I prefer Lowe's but I have to say that Menards is the easiest place to return something that I've experienced in a long long time. Their band of hand and power tools are well worth the money.

Great store for finding what I needed to fix many home and yard. Also they have large inventories so I have always been able to get what I was looking for.

I have a love/hate relationship with Menard's; they got da stuff - ALL da stuff. But, as with all Menard's, feels like I got in a week's worth of cardio by the time I leave. Kitchen and Bathroom cleaning stuff is in front (thank you), but beware: they have great stuff you can't get anywhere else, so you'll be back. HATE their "rebate" excuse for a sale. Requires paperwork, send it in, wait - and get DISCOUNT for next visit.

This Menards is laid out like the one on Ireland Rd in South Bend, which is nice since this is the layout we are used to. We love the lighting department at Menards. It has the best selection or classic lights along with unique, fancy, elegant and stylish options.
They are having an all you can fit in the bag deal you get 15% off. We like discounts! And the 11% deals work well for us, too!

The reason I have only 4 stars today is because of the girl who rung us up and the men’s restroom, according to my husband. The girl who rung us up did not greet us nor talk to us except to tell us our total. Her attitude was one of “I don’t care, I’m just here because I need the money.” And my husband said the restroom was dirty. We visited here on January 3, 2024.

Simply put, if you need it, they probably have it. From eggs to electronics and milk to magnetic lights, they have it. Indoor and outdoor items, tools, and accessories are available for just about every tradesman, craftsman, or just a regular joe looking to attack a project. The staff, for the most part, seem to know their departments products and what to use them for. They're good for advice to help accomplish your projects. Despite their sales Menards may not always be the lowest but it's usually only a one stop shopping trip,(unless you forget something or change your mind).

Clean and organized. Staff are friendly. Guy at hardware very knowledgeable. Wish the rebate (good business model) was in a Visa card for more flexibility.

A good experience I was able to get the assistance I was looking for. Although many times you would need to walk around to find someone for help. No big deal to me. Thank the entire team for being helpful. Employees deserve the merit.

I rented an edger sander for my floors and found the bag to be broken. Wendy at the service desk was more than willingly to let me swap out for another bag with no hassle. Wendy’s kindness and willingness to help turned my day around.

They have a bit of everything from grocery to hardware to lawn equipment to lighting. In some areas they have fewer choices. Prices are good. Staff is helpful. For larger stuff I do pick up. They charge a bit to pull the stuff but it's easier for me.

DON'T RENT TRUCK FROM HERE...ITS NOT 18.95!

The 18.95 truck rental is very misleading. Its 18.95 for first hour and 15mins. Then there is an additional $6 for every 15mins extra and they start timing you before you start using truck, so make sure you delete 15 minutes off that because thats for time between truck use and checking out truck and returning it. The computer starts the timing as soon as they print page work and ends it as soon as they print final paper work. Its also $300 deposit so they will get their extra charges once you return it and discover the true price.

Uhaul will give u a truck for the day for 19.95. And menards will not allow you to fill up truck. Menards charges 50 cents per mile instead of allowing the customer to fill the tank back up which is a total rip off. If the truck can get 17 miles per gallon then you are paying 8.50 per gallon of gas when the gas station charges $3.70 per gallon. You can rent a bigger uhal truck for a day and still pay much less. I did it and I promise you uhaul is far cheaper and give you much more time. Call uhaul before wasting your money with these sam trucks. ***You can even rent a truck from enterprise for cheaper if you plan on using it for more than few hours.

I love menards. It is great for the home handyman and diy person. They have almost always what I need unless something super special. Great people there too. Never walked out mad. Still love this place. And once sgain, still love it here

My kid wanted the "purple" tinsel tree that was in sale So Bad. I went to help to go get it & surprise him when he wasn't with me, but they were sold out at Valpo. My husband ran over to Michigan City where only 1 floor model was left. The nice young man got it approved to purchase, helped my husband take it down & pack it up. As soon as we got home we Had to put it up bc my child is already obsessed! Extremely Thankful for such kind & helpful associates! It meant the World to my kid!
