As a new mom, the last thing we needed was storm damage to our roof. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened on Friday evening. After calling RL Roofing Inc., I was blown away by how quickly they responded and got to work.

Tom, the technician who came out, was not only lightning fast but incredibly professional and knowledgeable. He assessed the damage and immediately got started on repairs.

What truly stood out, though, was the compassion shown by this company. Understanding the stress of having a newborn at home, they made it a priority to ensure the job was handled as quickly as possible. By Monday morning, the roof was fixed—just a few days after the storm hit! I couldn’t be more grateful for how fast and efficient they were.

We found RL Roofing for a large project in New Buffalo, MI, including re-roofing our home due to storm damage and then a complete exterior make over (siding, facia, soffits, gutters, front porch and stairs). This was a very large project and Richard was super responsive throughout the whole process. Even when there were things that needed to be adjusted or fixed, their crew made it right. It was a large project and lasted over the winter, but I have confidence they did the job right. I would highly recommend them and will reach out if I ever need exterior work done again!

My experience with RL Roofing was unfortunately far below expectations. What was promised to be a straightforward installation ended up being delayed by almost 9 months without consistent communication or meaningful updates. Reaching someone for answers often felt like chasing shadows, and when contact was made, responses lacked clarity and urgency. The owner was gone and dark for 3 months in Florida in that time if that paints a picture.

Despite the inconvenience and significant time lost, there was no proactive effort to offer any compensation, discount, or even a sincere apology for the delays. At the very least, I expected some gesture of accountability for the lack of service and communication throughout this process. The owner, Rich, was flippant and dismissive in all communication, and his immediate response to a request to discuss a discount was to sue for full payment.

The overall experience was awful, and I have never worked with a company this difficult and unprofessional. I would encourage others to ask very specific questions about timelines, and get that in writing on a contract with specific dates, and confirm follow-up processes before any commitment to work with this company.

Contacted RL Roofing because I had a tree fall on my roof during a storm and it was allowing water to leak in to the house. Not only did they come out and replace the section of the roof for me immediately, but they also noticed an issue with my flashing on a different section of the roof that was done by a completely different contractor. They fixed the flashing for me FOR FREE. So nice to find a contractor that is truly out for your best interest. I would recommend RL to anyone.

I have encountered a highly frustrating experience with this company. After over a month of attempting to contact them, I was finally informed that "insurance isn't my problem." This response came 22 days after I had personally notified them that I required their paperwork to facilitate my insurance covering the cost difference. Initially, I waited a week between attempts to contact them, but my phone calls were subsequently ignored. I resorted to calling from different numbers, only to be questioned about how I was able to do so. It became evident that my calls were being screened. Ultimately, I was told, "I would just prefer not to work with you."

The process began positively—the salesman was courteous, and the pricing was reasonable. However, communication ceased, and promises to return calls were not fulfilled. If this is indicative of their pre-job conduct, I am concerned about the potential for issues post-completion.

RL is the Best company to go with! They were on time, professional and thoughtful! Look at the before and after picturs, it says it all. Thank you so much Thomas and Alex from RL, I'm so happy with the outcome and the work they did. I highly recommend them!!!

The relationship was a strong start, a rough middle, and a good finish.

The sales team is polished, responsive and knowledgeable. They came recommended to us by local suppliers, and being new the the area word of mouth is an indicator we use.

They worked to fit us in for an EPDM roof before the weather turned too cold for the materials to be properly applied, and this was very appreciated.

The bumpy middle began on the day of the work when the installers showed up without a plan for getting the roofing materials onto the roof. Luckily I had equipment on site that was able to position their materials. So crisis averted, but it was unsettling the team felt unprepared.

At the end of the morning, the roof was in place, but seemed incomplete. The installers left some of the edges incomplete without any clear-to-me reasoning or explanation of needs. I then struggled to get into contact with RL for clarity, though I was promptly delivered invoices for the "completed" work.

The bright spot, was once I was able to reconnect, we had a very constructive discussion of the communications breakdown and needs for completing the work to my needs and to RL's standard of work.

I do believe based on the complete experience RL does care about the results and stands behind their work. It's also a good reminder to anyone reading this (customer or business), is to be mindful of your assumptions and ASK ASK ASK for clarification if anything is uncertain.

I would absolutely recommend RL based on the final result. 1star off for the emotional roller coaster. 5-stars for the final result.

I contracted with RL Roofing to have my gutters and downspouts replaced in July, 2024. I sent a deposit for half the amount and never heard from them even though the check was cashed. I contacted them the first week of September and they said the job would be completed. The following week they sent an invoice for the entire amount. The company mistakenly did the work on my neighbor's house even though they had a permit from the town with the correct address and the contract showed the correct address. I requested my deposit back and have still not received my money after 4 weeks.
Extremely difficult to contact. Would not recommend this company.

Full roof and Gutter replacement. Would definitely recommend to any of my neighbors. Fair and honest pricing. Highly skilled and hard working crews and prompt follow-up. Owner was always responsive as was his admin team. *yes i have same initials as the company but i am in no way affiliated!

I hired RL Roofing Inc because I had them reroof the house on 2 other occasions and they did good work. This most recent job, they used less than capable people who didn't do a professional job. They had to come back on 3 occasions to get the job done right and it's just OK at best. They started the job and July 3rd and completed the job yesterday. Very disappointed in every way.

Can't say enough great things about the RL team! We had to have our roof and siding redone, including some minor construction work. The crews were hardworking, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. They even fit us in early and were able to get the siding done in 4 days before a big weekend. Thanks to Richard Sr. and everyone from the RL crew.

When we discovered water dripping through our kitchen ceiling, Fred came out quickly to assess and put a temporary patch which worked well until Austin was able to come today to do the repair and clean debris off roof and gutters. Austin was thorough and professional and we are very pleased.

First was to remove solar panels and patch in. This time was for a complete new roof. They did a great job and got to me extremely quick considering I was told 2 - 3 weeks out. The crew did an excellent job on cleanup as well.

We had a great experience with everyone from RL Roofing. When we had damage to our roof, Rich sent out Tommy and Austin first thing the next morning. They had the damage repaired within an hour. It is not easy to find contractors that you can rely on around here. This was a very pleasant surprise.

We talked to Nolan on a Monday, the supplies were delivered 2 days later (Wednesday) they were there the next day (Thursday) and started! They got the entire roof on the house and the garage 90% done in one day! We are very happy with the crew of 6 guys that came out, they worked the entire day and into the evening. They were very professional and accommodating. A couple guys came back on Friday to finish a couple things, and the cleanup was done and everything looks wonderful!

Nolan Weeks, Project Mgr., who I had the pleasure of working with, coordinated multiple moving parts for a difficult and dangerous project with great professionalism and expertise. A large weathervane situated on top of a carriage house cupola needed to be stabilized. This was not a large job, but due to the height and location of it, this was not a job that most roofing companies would have taken on. RL Roofing and their expert staff, however, accepted the challenge and saved this beautiful weathervane which had been severely compromised. This weathervane is mounted on an historic structure with a high-visibility location and treacherous access. The roofing team handled every aspect of this difficult and dangerous job with the utmost professionalism and obvious expertise. I am deeply appreciative of their hard work and brave commitment. I would recommend RL Roofing to anyone who needed a dependable, professional, uncompromising company to handle any job that would require their expertise. I had my windows wrapped in 2019 and the job was not done right… I didn’t have confidence that things would be made right because I got taken pretty badly on a horrible bathroom remodel job but even though 3 &!1/2 years went by, Rich assured me that they stand behind their work, and would make it right. He sent his best guy, Terry Jamieson and his partner Jordan McComas out to completely redo the wrap job. I can’t say enough about the quality of the work they did, their professionalism, and how polite they were to me as the homeowner… they cared about doing a quality job and paid attention to detail, took their time, and did the job right! When they had a question about how something was done, they asked their coworker, Taylor Marshal who was also very knowledgeable and respectful to me. They wanted to make sure I was happy and kept good communication throughout the job. I highly recommend R and L and you can be rest assured they will stand behind their work and make it right! When the job was done, they did not charge me anything extra although they had to replace the windowsills and thresholds! I know extra materials were used! This was out first time using RL Roofing and we were very pleased! We made 3 attempts to hire someone to repair our roof, and either they don't show or they don't call back. RL called back and showed up for an estimate within 2 days and the work was completed within a week. We are very pleased and will definitely call them again, especially now that we know they do remodeling too and more than jsut roofs.

RL sided our house and we could not be happier. DiamondKote, color: Bordeaux. Every single day when I turn onto our street and see it I get a smile on my face. A month later we are still receiving compliments from neighbors and passersby. The team of workers consisted of one man and two women!! They did an excellent job, and tidied up nicely at the end of every work day. Their final cleanup also was spectacular. (Much better than that of the roofers we hired five or so years ago - not RL.).

My one regret is that we did not have them do our garage. Our plan is to paint it. Hah! We could never get it to look as good as the house.

We have been dealing with a leaky roof and skylights since our home was built 17 years ago. The builder came out and fixed the roof. He also fixed the skylights, but it didn’t last. He then brought in a roofing company to fix the skylights, but it didn’t last. I was then told to take out the skylights, but I LIKE the skylights! Recently I did some work for Rich Leslie’s wife. I learned he owned a roofing company. Rich assured me that skylights shouldn’t leak, and even with a 17year-old roof, he was confident his employees could make what I had water tight. And by golly, they did! Four heavy rains in 7 days and not a drop of water on my sun porch floor! I had to reach out several times to get a response. We had a little glitch with email communication about an appointment, but when we connected, they were “on it” and had the job completed within a week at what I feel was a fair price. These guys are good, and worth the bit of extra effort it took to finally connect.

I recently had the pleasure of working with RL Roofing and Rich Leslie Jr., and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed with their level of professionalism and expertise. They went above and beyond to ensure that my roof was repaired in a timely and efficient manner, all while providing top-notch customer service.

The estimated lead time was 4 weeks (understandable for a large scale roofing contractor like RL) and they were here in 2 weeks. Completed our roof in a day and left the property spotless. RL Roofing recently redid our siding & window wrapping and if I could give them more than 5 stars, I would! From the great customer service over the phone with Kate, the friendliness of the estimator, Nolan, and down to the crew who did the work- all very professional and knowledgeable! They showed up when they said they were going to, they got the job done on time, and above all, did great quality work!

Contacted them about a few shingles that blew off from a storm and they were out within a few days! There was snow on the roof in the morning but that didn’t stop them from coming in the afternoon. Highly recommend for their professionalism, quick turn around time and reasonable prices.

My wife and I were careful about choosing a roofing company to replace the shingles on our home and detached garage. We researched online, talked to friends and acquaintances, and eventually got quotes from several area companies. In the end, we picked R.L. Roofing, and we are glad we did.

Francisco and his crew (nine men I think, but they move so fast it’s hard to be certain) arrived on time and got everything done in one long day. And that included the installation of ridge vents on the house. They did a nice job, and they left our grounds spotless. We assumed the necessary dumpster would damage our lawn a bit, but they exercised extreme care and, much to our relief, the lawn was spared from harm.

We also appreciate that the R.L. crew was able to work seamlessly with our HVAC company’s crew (McGhee’s Heating & Air Conditioning), which was on-site that same day to install a kitchen stove vent that exited on the roof. Both crews did what they had to do, and nobody got in anybody’s way.

But here’s what impressed us most of all. A couple of days after the job was done, we noticed a small problem that we had overlooked initially. When the roofers were removing the old shingles around the skylights over our attached screened-in porch, the slightly exposed metal (aluminum?) strips at the low end of the frame of the skylight got noticeably rumpled and were no longer “perfect.” The skylights are in prominent view from the backyard deck where we spend considerable time in good weather, and the wrinkled strips bothered me. So we called R.L. Roofing to see what, if anything, could be done about the situation. We had already paid our bill and therefore were a little nervous about whether or not we were going to get their full attention.

Well, we’re happy to report that our concerns were taken seriously. Project Manager Fred Leslie came out to inspect the skylights, returning the following week (the day before Thanksgiving!) to fix both windows, a delicate job that involved removing and replacing some of the new shingles and installing new metal strips. It took almost five hours, and we expected there to be a charge for the extra work, but our offer to pay was refused.

We almost had to force Fred to accept a 12-pack of Sam Adams Oktoberfest Beer, which we’re normally pretty stingy with, as it is a limited-edition beer, but he finally gave in before leaving.

RL Roofing gave us a quote for a new roof to include extending one of our roof stacks. They were not the cheapest quote we got, but they were not the most expensive either. Their warranty was better than the others. They indicated they were about 4 weeks out. It actually took about 7 weeks for them to get to us. It was well worth the wait as Antonio and his team did a great job. They were hardworking, careful about anything near the house like the bushes, AC or glass basement windows that could be damaged by debris. They cleaned up the mess quickly as well as swept for nails. I would highly recommend RL Roofing for your roofing needs. As I understand it, they have several teams that do roofing. I would recommend Antonio's team as they were very good.

Rich and Nolan were very responsive - they were able to get the job done fast because we had a renter we were trying to accommodate. The work was done in a day. Nolan was even great at helping pick the color of the roof with us. Rich (owner) got on himself, and helped fix a timing installation issue - and got the job done. Highly recommend them!

Due to the positive experience we will continue to use RL for future projects. The owner Rich was not only easy to communicate with but he was efficient and accessible.

The quality of work and materials was 5 stars but frustrated by the customer service. Extracting communication from them required more than just one phone call. Found out my windows were never ordered back in Aug '21 when down payment was made. That kept me out of the supply chain queue for over 6 months without knowing it. Not used to giving average reviews but hopefully this will give someone a heads up.

Replacement of my roof was quoted to be a one day installation, I thought "Yea, right?!" as the two prior roofs took at least two days. The job was professionally completed in one day, at a fair price by a hard working crew that "got it done". From quotation to the last nail I couldn't be more satisfied. RL Roofing is a company that I will recommend to anyone that needs a task completed correctly and in a timely manner at a fair price.

R.L. did an outstanding job of roofing my house. Their expert installation demonstrated the inadequacies in a metal roof that I had installed on another house by an inferior contractor. R.L. hemmed the edge of each panel around the drip-edge, insuring a secure leak-proof connection with no fastener penetration of the roof surface. They also left a little piece of metal that they bent over to cover the open end of the standing seam at the edge of the roof so that it was completely sealed.

They were very responsive when we reached out to them. We had a slow leak from rain. They came out next day found the leak and discussed with us that there was major damage. We ended up replacing the entire roof. Great people, great work. Would highly recommend

Quick honest and very reliable estimates and quotations were on spot oh, and the price was very affordable Workman and workmanship or above average, fast and friendly and had the entire roofing project completed in under eight hours, we're talking a whole house in excess of two thousand square feet. They did an excellent job of clean up and haul away of debris, I'll have them back this year to install new soffit facia gutters and downspouts.

We called R&L to provide a quote for roof replacement. They came out promptly, looked over our roof, gave us a quote in a short time. We waited a little while because shingles we chose were out of stock. When the shingles were available, R&L came out and took off old shingles and put new ones on same day. Thank you R&L for taking good care of us. We will recommend you to our friends.

I especially like that they nail all shingles. They don't shoot them in with high pressure guns. Their clean up was always thorough and timely. This was the third full roof that I have used their services and won't hesitate for any additional work I may need.

I have known Rich Leslie for many years. His staff is helpful in provision of information on past installations, responsive to requests for inspections and evaluations, prompt and professional in repair and installation. All that without exception in my experience of 37 years in real estate sales.

We have been customers for many years and when we have a problem (tree branches taking off gutters, leaks, etc) All that it takes is one call and the work is done correctly the first time. I only wish they'd service the Chicago area where our primary dwelling is located. There is no roofing company we have found that compares with R.L.

Professional. Did good work. They repaired the wood underlayment to the roof where need at an add-on price that was very reasonable. The price for the entire project was also reasonable. They cleaned up the debris at the end of the job. The new roof looked right when they got done. I'd call them next time I'd need roofing.
