If you want to be harassed, inconvenienced, and treated rudely then go to the Barboursville Lowe's. I made the mistake of going there today (8/6/25) to purchase a steel door.
I went to the door aisle to pick out a steel door. I picked out the door I wanted. I had to leave the aisle to find a cart. I came back to the door aisle and loaded my door onto the cart. I pushed my cart down the aisle and toward the lockset aisle. I was eventually confronted by a Millwork Associate who asked if I needed any help. I told him I was good. He asked me what cash register I was checking out at. I thought that was strange, but I told him the self-checkout. He said he would check me out. I thought that was strange. He never asked if I needed any help with the locksets. I picked my lockset out and then headed to the self-checkout. I had begun scanning my items when the Self-Checkout Asssociate asked me if I could wait for the Millwork Associate to ring me up. I was confused as to why since I was already nearly done with the process myself. I told her I didn't want to wait. I was scanning my debit card when the Millwork Associate came up and stopped me. He asked me to void the transaction out so he could ring me up. Again, I was confused since I was already done with the process and ready to pay and leave. I told him no thanks. He said he wanted to ring me out since he had helped me. I said you didn't help me with anything. I just want to check out and be on my way. He left. I turned to the Self-Checkout Associate and asked her why he wanted to ring me out. She said he was just trying to help me. I asked how it would help me to void the whole transaction and let him ring me out. That would take longer since I had already done everything. She condescendingly told me I should let it go and not worry about it. That's when I decided I needed to speak to a manager. I didn't appreciate being harassed, inconvenienced, and treated poorly. I was made to wait several minutes for a manager. All I got was the Front End Supervisor. I explained the situation to him and he told me the Millwork Associate gets a commission on the sales he makes. I explained the Millwork Associate didn't help me with anything and I was already through ringing myself up by the time he even came to the register. I told him how rude and condescending the Self-Checkout Associate was (that's the only reason I decided to speak to a manager in the first place). He listened, and told me he would talk to the Millwork Associate. I don't think he really understood what had happened and how it had made me, the paying customer, feel. I decided I should just leave and headed out of the store with my cart and door. To top it all off, after no one assisted me in the aisles, but everyone fell all over themselves to try and manually ring up my purchase, not one single person (the Millwork Associate, the Self-Checkout Associate, or the Front End Supervisor) asked if I needed help loading my door up. I took it to my truck and struggled with it until another customer in the parking lot graciously offered to help me. I think management at the Barboursville Lowe's have really lost their understanding of customer service for their store culture to be this way.
I recommend taking your business to Menards, Home Depot, or Ace Hardware. At worst they might ignore you, but they certainly won't harass, inconvenience, or disrespect you.
Everything you need to upgrade your project! Lumber yard and mason needs. Lots of landscaping options from trees to plants. Great staff and very efficient! Paint and cleaning needs. Close to the interstate 64 and route 60. Close to gasoline and eateries. Clean and very well organized.
Frustrating experience. Ordered a mower for pickup on Thursday. Got the notification it was ready for pickup that day. Go to pick it up Friday and they didn't have it. Didn't want to lose the sale price. South Point Lowe's matched the price from the sale even though it wasn't on anymore.
