I recently purchased a $1,300 washer and dryer set from the Oak Harbor, WA Home Depot location, scheduled for home delivery today. While the purchase process went smoothly, the delivery experience was deeply disappointing and unacceptable.

When the delivery drivers arrived, my husband greeted them in English, as we live in an English-speaking household. One of the delivery men immediately yelled at him and responded with “No English,” then continued to act disrespectfully toward him throughout the entire delivery process. My husband is a soft-spoken person, but he was clearly made to feel uncomfortable and disrespected in his own home simply for speaking English.

I find this behavior completely unprofessional and unacceptable. If I had been home, I would not have allowed this to go unchallenged. No customer—especially one spending over a thousand dollars—should be treated with such disregard or hostility.

Home Depot, this is a serious customer service issue that needs to be addressed. You must ensure that your delivery contractors represent your company with the respect, courtesy, and professionalism your customers expect and deserve

While the Oak Harbor store staff have been nice enough to work with, Home Depot as a whole has really bungled and effed up my delivery.

First of all, I live in Mt Vernon and see no reason why the store couldn't manage its inventory appropriately such that my delivery could come from the Burlington store.

Secondly, the delivery date was NOT met and I didn't find out until very late in the day as to what was happening.

Here we are, the day after the delivery due date, and I still have not been informed as to what is happening with this. This caused an unnecessary project delay.

I'm ordering from Lowe's next time.

They have a large area of the store separated from the main store. You end up having to go through two cash registers it seems like every time you go into the store. It is so inconvenient and it makes you wait both of her cash registers every time you go in there I'm at the point that I'm going to Lowe's more and more cuz at least you can get everything in one cash register when you get done.

This is Melnick Electric LLC as a contractor I use home Depot often, almost daily. Unfortunately Malinda, Petricia and Eric just lost home Depot a big order because of their laziness and lack of motivation. Quit eating potato chips and acting like you actually do work. If your the managers of this store act like it. If I was your boss I'd fire you for your arrogance.

Sincerely Melnick Electric LLC

This home depot is a so pleasant. I donr know how else to word it.. the store is clean and easy to navigate, the employees are beyond helpful and crazy nice. I went from from the register to the for and in that time I was told have s good night 7 times. I wanted to know which carpet shampoo was best for the wheat stains ever, which had least chemicals, and best price. The woman that worked there spent more than an hour with me. She collected all the shampoos read every label to be able to tell me the highlights of each one. This store and employees are the best!

I like the employees at this location. Ive been there multiple times a week for the last three years. Many know by now that I won't hesitate to ask for help if I need it, but more or less know my way around. When they help, they help well. Sure there are the +6ft +50yr old men who work there and look and act as though they hate life for working there as long as they have without being considered for manager, but I just keep my distance from them.
The managers. There are nice ones, don't get me wrong. Woman who was mgr in paint department. Good. Guy named Eric, wears glasses, bunch of 'oh crap what did I do' tattoos; not good. I've never had a home depot employee rub me worse. My fault for asking you for help. Dont come near me again.
The credit cards. Let me make this clear. Your store will not close if your credit card numbers decrease. Your employment as a manager will not disintegrate either. Acting like predators and making your employees ask folks for credit cards all the time? It's gross. You can push back. Read your myapron sops. No I'm not an employee.
I give you my money, and you give me what I paid for - shouldn't be: I give you my money, you ask if I want to become legally tied to the
the company through debt by running a credit report and chipping off a couple points from my credit score.
Your components aisle is trash. Organization, trash. You make Ace Hardware look like the Hagen of components. Might spend more, but holy crap will it be worth it.
It's an okay store. Some things could be improved. Let folks cull out bad lumber. I dont approach employees with perfect lumber that has one chip. You get to cull 1% daily. I usually buy one or two items. Come on Eric. Seriously? You smell of a manager worried about his own job and not his employees, let alone his customers.

My 76 year old husband and myself, a gray haired old lady, loaded 100 pieces of lumber by ourselves while multiple male employees walked by without even looking up. One employee literally held up his phone in front of his face while walking by, then stood at the end of the aisle and pretend to be busy folding a box. Most worthless help I’ve encountered. Btw, a woman helped load it into his truck. Leave it to the women to get the job done.

Sadly while we always try and support the local economy here on the Island the future of our purchases at the Oak Harbor HD store just won’t happen in the future. Horrible experience in our attempt to use HD services, while price was good from the start the staff struggled. In home visit for measurements and subsequent store visit to pay was challenging (2 stars at best). Should have stopped there, but we purchased and it got worse when the installer showed up. Nowhere close to what we signed up for, improper installation, sloppy work and cleanup along with damaged product.(not even one star).
Ok, so now what? We called our CC company and got the charges put on hold. We then called to meet with Eric the Store mgr, who showed up at the appt late. While they eventually agreed to completely replace and offered a 500 dollar credit we declined. After such a bad experience and his incredibly condescending and honestly just plain dumb comments. Specifically his comment “we will get paid” after we decided to decline sealed our decision. Oh and yah our CC company agreed after photos and follow-up to completely credit back the charges.

Poorly trained staff, bad install work and a rude, unprofessional, arrogant and condescending mgr…We’re done with HD Oak Harbor, Wa.

For others, maybe buy some products there for your home needs to support local staff and economy. Run and hide from anything related to home services and management at this location.

One ⭐️ is it much in our book ‍♂️

Ok, Follow up info. After posting our review HD reached out and we decided to discuss with them our poor experience. They addressed our issues straight up, no excuses and agreed the charges on our CC should have been and were reversed. Lessons learned and a sincere apology was given and accepted. We all have bad days, learn and move on who the next lesson. So for follow up, follow thru and sincere responses we will go with ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️‘s.

Follow up visit to the store soon as the management did ask we meet in person

NO MONEY BACK IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A RECIEPT ON CASH SALES AND STORE CREDIT AND GIFT CARDS EVEN ON HOME DEPO PRODUCTS!!! Not like Walmart and other companys that have good customer service. Please support our locally owned Ace Hardware for great service and they are locally owned. Much better quality products also. Free returns any time.

I just got the BEST service from one of your staff. I forgot to get his name, but he's about 45-50 years old, salt and pepper hair at the Oak Harbor Store. He saw I had mobility issues and walked the store with me to assist, then he took me to the nearest register to my car and afterwards walked me out to the car with my purchases. Very helpful, very personable. Such a joy. He's a credit to your store.

Corey was a great help! I wanted to purchase a certain promotion but it wasn't on the shelf. He said he had 7 but it turns out there was a stocking error. He ended up helping me find a different promotion. I was at the store for an extended period of time but stuff happens. I'm very pleased with Corey's professionalism and determination to help in a situation he very easily could have turned me away.

Came in for some hardware, and was truly disappointed. Not only was one associate try to do a complete hardware reset or change up, the store was out of a lot of selection and not one associate asked if I needed help. Just fully focused on doing their reset and restocking, no customer interaction at all. I can tell you when I worked for Home Depot 20 years ago, this would have never happened. First, an item reset like this would have never happened during daytime hours. Would have been done during the night shift hours as to not impact the customer and second, we were trained the customer comes first, never walk by a customer without greeting them and offering assistance. Either Home Depot (the company) doesn’t train this way anymore or the store itself doesn’t. Either way I will go to ACE Hardware, much better in stock selection and customer interaction/service.

Hands down a great store.

Pros are finding what I need for a decent price and local convenience. They offer a military discount.

Con is having to sort through the wood to find a straight board at times.

I have been a Home Depot customer for as long as I can remember. The main reason for that is the level of customer care I receive. Associates at the Oak HJarbor store are generally better than even other Home Depot Stores. But Blayne, the morning manager there set an even higher bar on a recent visit.
I had just spent untold hours over the past several days trying to find someone to service a product I bought at the Oak Harbor store. In the end I could find no one closer that 50 miles would service the products. I was angry, frustrated and about to ponce on anyone who could resolve my issue immediately.
Then along came Blayne. He listened to my problem and was courteous pleasant and ver empathetic. We discussed the problem and arrived at a solution that worked for both of us. What had started out as an unpleasant experience turned into a very productiver and positive one. Many thanks to Blayne and to Kenneth Orgill, the store manager, for having people like Blayne working at his store.

I spend a lot of money here. More geared to construction side of things where Lowes is more geared to better finishes. These stores still need more work in customer service. Employees everywhere but you have to track them down to ask questions most of the time. This place has gotten way better in service than it's competitor Lowes

The happiest place on earth. My favorite part about hardware stores is that I see something new and/or learn something every time I'm in there. But the last time I was in there was by far my best experience yet. I had royally screwed myself stripping the head of a screw and thanks to YouTube I needed a stripped screw tool thingy. There are so many options. Luckily a fella came around and asked me if I needed help. I desperately did. Not only did he help me pick which one to get, he told me how to use it AND offered extra tips that YouTube did not mention. Saved me because I was on a time crunch. My other half was going to be home any time and he would have been displeased to find a screw in such a state. But thanks to friendly home Depot guy (don't remember his name ) my fella was none the wiser.

And here's some pretty flowers they have available for purchase

Working in construction home depot always has what I need at a great price!! Only problem I have is in there rental agreement there is no where it state tools have to be returned to the same place so when I tried to return a tool rental oak harbor wa. Home depot said they couldn't accept there own rental because i didn't rent it at that specific location but if I was to buy a tool from one location I was more then welcome to return it that location.

Pricing questions
1. What is the average roof replacement cost for a residential home?
+-

The average roof replacement cost for a residential home typically ranges from $7,000 to $15,000, depending on factors such as roof size, chosen materials, roof pitch, and labor rates in your area. Premium materials or complex designs may increase the price.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?
+-

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
