Menards - Mason City, IA

We were looking for a 2-sink vanity for our downstairs bathroom that needed remodeling after recent flooding. Found several ideas we were able to see and then ordered. We did purchase 2 faucets so they'd be available when the vanity cabinet & top came in.

I ordered a water heater online as a special order. I needed this water heater asap. I was expecting a couple weeks at the most. They didn't stock this propane water heater in the store. Really? You're a home improvement store. It took over a month to get and there was very poor, vague tracking. The water heater was shipped by Schneider trucking and simply stated, in transit. It was shipped from Laredo, Tx. . Too far. If this store doesn't have in stock what I need, I won't EVER buy a special order online. I will drive to Home Depot in Albert Lea, MN.. They have propane water heaters in stock. At least I will have what I need, when I need it. You've been warned.
Update: When I went to pick the water heater up, the water heater was heavily damaged. I could tell it has fell over during shipment. There was a huge dent on the top and bottom. So I get a refund and they actually took the 11% rebate off my refund. So I'm forced to spend some of my refund at their store. They could of just cancelled the rebate. Menards didn't even offer a in store credit or anything to make up for all the waiting and inconvenience. Horrible customer service. I ordered a water heater online at Home Depot in Albert.,Lea, MN. I can pick it up in one week. I also get a veteran 10% discount all the time and free shipping. Guess I'll start shopping at Home Depot. Better delivery times and customer service.

We've been here several times and I've gotten the vibe that the employees on the floor don't like being bothered with questions so I never ask. Today my husband did ask a male employee one question about an air filter and the guy seemed like it was an inconvenience. Over one question. Jeeze

I frequently shop at Menards and have had a mix of experiences, some quite positive and others less so. It's encouraging to see that they employ a significant number of people, including many senior citizens, which not only provides jobs but also enriches the community. Their commitment to hiring local residents contributes positively to the local economy. The store's hours, from 6 am to 9 pm on weekdays, are very convenient for shoppers like me, making it easy to visit after work or early in the morning. Overall, I hope Menards continues to thrive in our community for many years to come.

I love the store, and have shopped there often however I do not like the rude Customer Service Rep/Supervisor name Kristine. I went to return something and the moment I approached the counter I got an attitude. She looked at my return and said with major attitude "So what is wrong with this?". I told her it doesn't work and I'm not burning $50 of my money on something that doesn't work. Her attitude towards me became even worse after this.

As I was done shopping and checking out about 30 minutes later there were two guys in line ahead of me and she was called over by the cashier for a pricing discrepancy. She was super sweet, flirting and laughing with the men and then shot me the stink eye. I'm a female and I'm tired of insecure women letting their insecurities show instead of doing their job without prejudice. She needs to brush up on those CSR skills and see a therapist.

There's nothing wrong with this Menards but I gave it three stars because of the 11% rebate scam. What a joke. It's not even a rebate because you have to spend the money in the store again because it's store credit. That is, if your rebate actually shows up, which twice now mine hasn't.

I was looking to buy a clearance power bank and I also needed a few other items as well that I needed help finding I asked the closest associate I could find and Greg from electrical personally found every item I had on the list taking me to Brady to help me find, a specific type of heater he gave it 100% even though we could not find The item, Would recommend to a friend. Love them Menards rebates!

People that work at the store are some of the dumbest people alive. I drove over three hours to pick up some aluminum deck railings on Rays list. they were supposed to have eight railings in stock that was listed under a specific brand name and SKU number. I called the store before I left my house to ensure that they did, in fact, have the specific item I was looking for. When I got to the store, the items turned out to be a different product, although it looked very similar in the low quality pictures they post on Rays list online. Actual product in the picture was a different product with a different name and different SKU number. When I asked if they would adjust the price of ONE of the three railings that I ended up picking up, they said there was nothing they could do. So, even though they mislabeled an item on their website, they were too lazy and unintelligible, to make it right. So, I drove 3 hours back home. Menards as a brand really doesn’t have a clue what they’re doing.

Farming, Electical, appliances too! Savings that always come right back to you! Save big money, YOU SAVE BIG MONEY $$$$$$$$$ when you shop Menards!

Trey has got to be one of the nicest employees I've ever met. He checked my items out for me the other day while having a friendly conversation. He was really nice about everything and told me where I could go buy bolts and screws. He said he really loves working here and couldn't imagine himself working anywhere else! What an awesome guy!

I don't care for the lack of service or attitude from a employee in a dept that should have knowledgeable people in it. Also he didn't order some of the items that he said he did so couldnt start the job without spending additional money for more expensive items on hand. Otherwise great store!

THE MASON CITY MENARDS STORE NEEDS LEADERSHIP REPAIR! This store is a below grade Menards Store. Leadership allows and deliberately places damaged product on the floor without full honest disclosure and a no return option. The GM, Sam M., made this known with the verbal statement, “Some people like to buy and repair”. In addition, the GM made an analogy effort/attempt to compare the damaged product like buying a used car so again admitted to knowingly placing damaged product on the floor. The Better Business Bureau wouldn’t find this to be acceptable behavior. Menards is known for escorting leadership out of the Mason City Store. Don’t stop now! Menards employees/worker bees can’t dress for success, prosper, or be trusted when leadership lacks honesty, integrity, morals, ethics, and customer service intricacies. The GM’s, Sam M., ego is controlling the necessary complexities for outstanding leadership to the employees and customers. Return this GM to the Spencer, IA store as soon as possible…they can have him. To all the N. Iowans and S. Minnesotans…GO LOWES and FLEETFARM! There is a better place to be! Don’t get caught in the Menards Rebate echo chamber marketing ploy…go elsewhere for discounts, sales, quality product and high end honest service. NOTE: Google Reviews aren’t enough to get change or results, Menards corporate needs to be in the know with formal complaints. My family has commenced the start of severing ties with the Mason City Menards with approximately $800+ in returns and more coming.

I had 6 sample size pots of paint mixed Sunday afternoon. 5 of which were varying shades of biege. Upon trying to paint the samples this evening I find that not 1 of them has the name or color number, just the recipe. This is truly unacceptable. Now I have to try and determine which sample does with which name.
We are in the process of painting the entire interior of our new home. Menards you have lost a sale due this negligence.

We bought a 12 x12 shed kit and had to wait a week for lumber they did not have on hand, then when we went to pick it up all they had was the lumber that had to be special ordered and nothing else. They never told us we had to pick the rest of the kit ourselves. It was a kit so we thought when we ordered it it would all be ready when we were told to pick up. One good thing, the guys in the yard were VERY helpful. Thanks yard guys

Truck Drivers: From Business 18 head South on Village Green Drive, go past Aldi and around the bend, truck entrance will be on the right. Their is a sign that says Truck Drivers stop here to check-in, just ignore that sign

After a year of shopping this location, I have finally decided to end my shopping relationship with these people. Their cashiers are rude, there is little to no help on the floor and their prices are high for the things I need. Just because they are one of the bigger stores in this city does NOT mean they can treat their customers as an inconvenience.... see ya I'm not crossing your threshold again.

Stopped 3 different people for help. 2 of the 3 just pointed in a direction, said "over there!" (Over there was waaay on other side of store!) 3rd person said, " oh should be across from bathroom. Which it wasnt! Couldn't find half the items we needed. Used the bathroom. 7 stalls, 5 dirty, the 2 that weren't disgusting had no toilet paper. Just yuck! They could do better.

It's Menards, nothing more and nothing less. I don't enjoy going there because their parking spaces are too close, there are virtually no workers, their products are non-name brand so they are either great quality or complete garbage but you don't know which. They deserve to be charged by the FTC for misleading customers with their 11% sale. They should NOT be allowed to list the *sale price when they are purposely making it difficult to file the dang rebate and it's store credit so it literally would NEVER equate to the price they list.
This particular Menards has an old decrepit restroom for a home improvement store.
The good? You may get a chance to speak to one of the department folks and they are knowledgeable and helpful, even when they act like they hate their life. Good hard to find products, like ductwork, PEX B, and trusses.
Go at your own risk, and expect to hate it and it may not be all that bad.

This is a nice, clean, large store. Sometimes hard to find items we need and sometimes they don't have that item.

Always love the deals they have.they got new f clamps im going to have to try out that look really good quality for the $

Just needed to replace my microwave and went back to the appliances department and saw what I needed a nice young man grated me said he would be be right back to help me but found what I was looking for do was in and out before he could get back
