We can't send our contractors in here anymore because you can't text to pay or pay over the phone like you can at Home Depot. The returns system is archaic; you have to bring the receipt with you or look it up at a kiosk, which is not very feasible when your doing over twenty supply purchases a week. Home Depot requires you to enter a phone number and it will look it up for you. That's two big strikes against Menards.

My phone conversation this morning with Tianna and then Mathew was strike three. Her attitude sucked and he seemed pretty indifferent to the no pay over the phone policy.

I've always enjoyed shopping here for our remodeling business, but they appear to be on a downhill trajectory. That or they don't care about getting contractor business as they definitely don't make an effort to earn those dollars.

I was in paint department just now. I knew what color and Sheen I wanted. But apparently the lady that helped me had a little additude right off the bat . She then proceeded to mix up my paint wrong shade. As I was checking my color that was finished, she yelled at me in front of other customers . I told her It was wrong color and she said she couldmt fix it I said well your gonna have to mix it up again, then she left and without telling she could I would. I asked other lady there ifshe was gonna fix that for me , and she said she didn't know. Your paint department needsnicer poeple !!
I have never had this happen before.

Overall a good experience. Some of the young associates need to learn to ask senior associates if they dont know the answers instead of guessing.

I've been remodeling my home, buying mostly Menards products. I've been satisfied till just now, light switches are failing. I installed these about a year ago, bought in a multi pack, no name visible on the switch itself. Just removed the second one, used an ohm meter and there is no continuity when switch is on. I am a licensed electrician so I absolutely installed them correctly. Wondering now if I should just go ahead and take them all out. Could be a fire hazard. I'm pissed at Menards now, probably go to home depot from now on.

Management wanted to know how they could make it a better experience for customers I would like back the hundreds of dollars that I’ve Over paid for items since there’s Always four different prices on the same item. Employees need to lay off their extracurriculars at lunch. It’s been the same issue for years. You guys know about it. Every time I come in for grow lights for my succulents, he always brings up marijuana I don’t grow marijuana I have literally a whole room of indoor plants three times now after I asked about grow lights, he brought up marijuana

My mother and I were just at Menards, and we’re about to check out, when approached by a wonderfully friendly member from the outdoor section. The name of this man is Rodney, and he gave us a BUNCH of tips and tricks to try for gardening. He did this all without hesitation, and helped us out majorly. He was helpful and fun to talk to. From this interaction alone I’d give 6 stars if I could.

I grabbed a battery for my truck, it said 49.99. Plus another spot with a battery said 49.99 it rang up 117.00 and the guy said let me ask my boss. We'll nothing we can do since someone labeled it wrong.. well I know home depot would at least give me $$ off instead of a screw you

Dog kennel heavy duty master paws black welded is not worth the money. It's failed less than a year old. The brackets that come with it is a joke. They have fallen off 3 times now breaking. We had to buy new clamps the day we bought it because the clamps they come with are a joke as well. The divider panel between already has broken welded pieces. Its not sturdy as it should be for the price of over 700 for it. Never will recommend this dog kennel. I should have went to TSC or even Lowes. So disappointed in this product.

I am beyond frustrated. I attempted to rent a working rug doctor machine from this store. Huge mistake! Not only did it take 4 trips to get a machine that worked, none of their hose attachments worked properly. As a disabled veteran, lugging their machines up/down stairs + loading and unloading was more than my body could handle. They supposedly refunded the rental fees, but that wasn't processed correctly. When I tried to get their service desk to actually process the refund, they brushed me off, saying they needed to figure out what happened by emailing corporate. After not hearing back in the time they estimated, I called the store and was brushed off again. I was finally able to speak with the manager, who didn't seem to know the whole situation. How sad that his team doesn't seem to communicate. Every time I spoke with an employee, I stated that I hope their manager is aware of how frustrated I am with this experience. The GM seemed surprised. It seems that my refund has finally been processed after 17 days of waiting. We shall see. We have been using this store for our home improvement projects but this Menard's won't be seeing me again after how I was treated. I hope no one else has this experience!

I went and bought 2 monster cans and the really old cashier guys was being super rude and staring very gross like at me, and then proceeded to crumple up my receipt and thow it away and i didn’t think much of it because they should ask me if I want the receipt. Well I went back into the store to get more stuff I forgot and ended up not getting anything and I tried to leave and they wouldn’t let me by without a receipt and the old guy was gone when I went back. So I had to buy my drinks all over again. Honestly not to big of a deal but I just wanna complain about it cause it was just a stupid situation.

I have been in a lot of Menards but I’m happy with the Topeka store hands down. They are so helpful and friendly. I have made so many friends with the employees and they help out with whatever I’m doing.

The staff here have always been helpful and friendly, but I had to write this today to give a shout out to Kamryn at check-out. I’m a painter and I had some bulk items she scanned in my cart, but also some smaller items scattered among them. While I was paying for it all at the card reader, she gathered them up and bagged them for me (no customers were in line behind me), and said there, that will make it easier for you.
I guess what I’m saying here to Menards (or anyone that’s listening): Hire more Kamryn’s!

I sent my mom with the word by word of what she needed and told her to find someone in the hardware and ask them to help you find 1 1/4 self drilling metal to metal screws with a gasket. I even talked to the guy in the phone. These people sent her home with metal to wood screws non self tapping. Go be a Walmart greeter.

My daughter and I went shopping to get wood landscape logs and mulch. We had a hard time getting the straight logs so we asked an associate for help. Caleb B. came over to help us and the customer service was amazing. He went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for our project. He didn’t leave until we were done and ready to check out. Menards is my favorite store but Caleb is our favorite associate!!!

We had a $50 gift card that we got for Christmas and tried to use it twice. Both times they admitted that there was an issue with the gift cards but told us that we had to email some email address and get a confirmation from them before we could use it. So our family purchased us a gift card and paid them. They say it is a good card, but are unable to let us use the money that has already been paid to Menards! They will take your money, but are not willing to help you use a gift card they sold. Absolutely a shame, the supposed general manager said there’s just nothing he can do. We drove 30 miles to shop there two times and couldn’t use our already paid for gift card!

This place has the worst kind of secret shoppers follow me around act like they are shopping but don't try to shop all they did was make my girl and I feel like we shouldn't be there . We spent $128 there but felt offended because we don't look like we have money to pay for what we got I put stuff back paid my bill and left . I won't ever ship there again because I felt humiliated by the management. I have feelings and they made me feel I wasn't good enough to shop at their store so I wont

Do not shop here unless you card to file an insurance claim for vehicle damage. Brand new 2022 truck now has a dent and huge scratches all because the employees couldn’t empty a cart coral.

What was a $15 30 minute trip is now going to cost me $515 because they will not cover for damages.

This one is for Lavon (Not sure the spelling but our cashier said “Lavon” is the manager in the paint dept). Anyways we went to purchase some wood and paint and just needed an exterior white paint. We found one that was on clearance for $9 and an identical paint can that was also leaking paint and simply asked if that one was also on clearance and just hadn’t been marked. They called the manager Lavon and she said no, and that was fine but her attitude was completely unwarranted, absolutely unnecessary negativity. I told her that I would go get another can instead since I didn’t want a damaged can if I was going to pay full price and she ordered me to take the one back to the shelf. Her attitude was just ugly and I hope that someone talks to her about it. I know I’m not the only person who has experienced this negativity. Legitimately for absolutely no reason at all. It was just ghetto and trashy. We checked out at 2:25pm on Sunday the 16th if that is any help and we checked out immediately after the interaction we had with this individual. Strongly considering going to Home Depot next time as I’ve never had any negative interactions there.

Rob in special order is the best! He says "Hi Joel" everytime I'm there and asks how I'm doing. That makes me feel important and valued as a customer. He always has my orders ready and runs a great team of folks. I'm always on the lookout for Rob because I know he's got my back. It's important to have great people behind you when you run a business, I count Rob as one my own because he is so important in making sure I get the best head start possible for my work day. I never want Rob to leave, but I know he will and deserves to move up.

I was looking for some plastic shelving when I started at other places and was going to give up because the other places were so expensive. Then I went to Menards. I couldn't believe how much lower the prices were. The store is huge and I know there's a lot of things you wouldn't even think would be there. I want to take an afternoon and just go to see what all they have.

To me, menards is a bit more diy friendly than most other home centers. Their prices are fair and they are well staffed throughout the store. They carry an eclectic assortment of tools which are mostly homeowner quality, with a smattering of contractor/professional products. They do not go very deep on specialty products in plumbing or electric, but the assortments are large and varied enough to cover most needs. They have a variety of credit programs, but those are operated by capital one. Their rebate programs are also a nice incentive to shop there.

Love these guys. EXCEPT!!!!! 4 out of 5 visits ended with the GRUMPY KID at the yard gate. Y'all need to adjust his attitude. If he hates his job send him packing. Don't need him to ruin an otherwise great experience.

Ordered lumber, scheduled delivery for a Thursday. At the end of the day on Thursday I have no lumber. I call the store "we can see the order, we'll deliver it late Saturday." The customer service rep on the phone explains to me that scheduled delivery dates are only suggestions.

He confirmed that there was no inventory issue and also refused to do anything better than setting up another delivery perhaps 'suggestion' for late Saturday. He did provide us with permission to come and get the lumber order for ourselves.

Thankfully we have Lowe's to come to our rescue.

I used to speak highly of this business until today, when I learned they didn't care enough about their DISABLED and ELDERLY CUSTOMERS enough to PROVIDE PROPER WORKING ELECTRIC SHOPPING CARTS.

There are only 2 for the ENTIRE STORE.

For a 60 year old with MS and heart disease, the ELECTRIC CARTS are how I am able to shop and support this store.

Sadly, they do not care about us, or this would NEVER have been an ISSUE.

I had to use the push cart today to purchase Holiday items.

It caused me Horrific Pain and Suffering in my Legs because of not having the Electric Shopping

I will be INFORMING ELDERLY SHOPPERS along with the DISABLED TOPEKA AND SURROUNDING AREA CITIZENS not to attempt to SHOP at this STORE since there are no carts for us to use for our Shopping needs.

They obviously do NOT CARE ...

Yes they have that also. Huge place with people to help. Great prices and oh yeah, they are a home improvement store too. You need soda they got it. You want a mattress, they got it. You need lawn furniture to go with your new grill you got from Menards, they got it. They even have a motorized shopping cart to g o find the stuff you didn't even know you know you needed.
