Bought a couch from Menards — it arrived damaged and infested with bugs.
We had just moved in and were sleeping on the floor — no issues at all. The moment the couch was brought inside, we started getting eaten alive. Took nearly a week to realize it was the source. Moved it to the garage, bombed the space twice, and the bites stopped completely.

We reported the damage the day it arrived. They offered a $20 refund for it — but I still haven’t received it. Corporate is impossible to reach and refuses to help.

Now I’m out $700, stuck with a contaminated couch, and no support.
This company will take your money, sell you a health hazard, then disappear when you ask for accountability.

Menards has more items in stock then Home Depot and Lowe’s in every store and this one is no exception. Fantastic selection of items and helpful people make this one of my favorite places to shop.

Disappointed with Port Huron Menards

I usually don’t post complaints, but this one’s worth sharing. We recently ordered carpet from Menards and were shorted by over 5 feet. When we brought it to the manager’s attention, we were basically told the only solution was to bring the carpet back and they’d give us what we paid for.

No apology. No real help. Just “bring it back.”

It’s frustrating to spend time and money on a project, only to be told we have to haul back a large roll of carpet because of their mistake. Not exactly the customer service you’d expect from a major home improvement store.

If you’re buying materials from Menards—double-check everything. Mistakes happen, but how they’re handled makes all the difference.

Bought some sheeting for Panel returned some of the sheets next day and couldn't find my receipt so I had to get store credit and the deduction was over a hundred dollars short said that was last know sales price over 5 dollars a sheet less I feel like that is just robbery

I bought an ariens pressure washer this morning. I asked an employee named Greg behind the customer service desk next to the checkouts what the return policy is for this pw. he asked for my receipt and looked it up and said 7 days with gas in it. i drove the 45 minutes home assembled the pw and added gas. the carb immediately started gushing gas all over. I removed the gas disassembled the pw and drove another 45 minutes to be told you cant return it and Greg isnt hear to back up your story. I was hosting mothers day for 12 tomorrow and needed to clean the deck and patio. so thanks to ariens and menards employee lying to me Im not to happy. so now I have a 430 dollar boat anchor that I have to go find an pay to fix something at this point I no longer want to own.

Seriously this place sucks so bad. The only thing we ordered and bought was 1 pallet of soil, brought a trailer, had them load it and when we were pulling out they asked to search the tailgate of our truck (has a tonneau cover on it) like they are police. This is ridiculous. We refused so they called a manager and checked cameras, guess what they didn't find anything (duh) it's bad enough you have to walk in the absolute farthest side of the store to walk to the complete opposite side of the store to get a piece of paper to walk all the way to the front of the store to buy the product with my piece of paper to drive all the way around to the back of the building to walk inside again to show them my paper and receipt to get loaded and have to drive over to the mulch to actually get loaded then stopped at the gate to leave to say they are searching our truck. If they were worried about people stealing why not just bring the stuff directly out to our truck, wtf are we gonna steal in the lumber yard with my bare hands? Lmao everything is twice the size and 5 times the weight

Love how they think they have the right to search my truck when I told them no they had us sit and wait for them to check there cameras for them to make sure we didn’t steel anything which we didn’t and not sure why they think it’s ok to randomly accuse me of it

I recently shopped at your Port Huron location. It's a very well organized store, and the service I received in Hardware from Savanna was top notch.
I also had a pleasant checkout due to Bryce and his great demeanor.
I used to work for Lowe's, but I've been turned into a Menards shopper due to great service and really good prices!

Dang, I remember why i don't come here and why i choose lowes and home depot. First, the building design makes you park at only one end of the building to walk in then you gotta walk all the way across the entire store to get to the garden center, where we went and took a picture of what mulch we wanted with the item numbers and everything then walked all the way up to the cash register where Sara was working on register 9 and the customer in front of us was having issues with her card making her and rudely Sarah said "sorry not my job i just work here" i felt bad for thay customer. Then we took the picture of our mulch to her with the item number and everything and with her smirk she said "you gotta go back to the garden center and get a ticket" we asked if they could just get us the ticket or just use the item number because I have a broken leg and am disabled she said "nope" then another girl Kaylee came up and we asked her if she could send someone to get the ticket so we didn't have to walk all the way back there and she pointed over to the door where there was a wheelchair and said "you can just take the wheelchair". So we took the wheelchair went all the way over to building supplies to get a ticket to go all the way back to the register to pay for the mulch to wheelchair all the way across the parking lot to the entrance side of the building to get to the vehicle to go to the back of the store to get loaded. Customer service or convenience or easy shopping is not something menards has. Plus no military discounts they say "you get a 10% rebate" ok but that's for everyone, nothing for the veterans. Pretty un-American if you ask me. We'll stick to home depot and lowes like we have been the past 10 years. And hopefully Sara and Kaylee can get some training on how to not be so lazy, but hey, they're only there for the paycheck, not because they actually care

Devon in appliances was AWESOME! He helped us purchase our new washer and dryer set. He was VERY knowledgeable, helpful and kind! We went to Home Depot and Lowes first, Menards availability and staff far out does either of them! The process was so easy at Menards! We will be back for all our appliance/home needs! Devon deserves a bonus

I have had good experiences at different Menards before, but I was blown away today by the helpfulness at the Port Huron location! My wife and I drove 45 miles to the store to get a sofa that was in stock there. We were helped by Renee, and she was a ROCKSTAR. So helpful, so kind! Then we went to the loading dock order pickup, and the crew there really bowled us over with their speedy efficiency. The forklift driver is SUPER skilled, and friendly to boot. This experience was just amazing. Please thank the whole crew there - it really was a fantastic experience!

Horrible experience, extremely rude cashier, and an even ruder gm, he laughed in my face when I told him the cashier was rude to me. Also, went in the back to pick up my refrigerator, that was the floor model, and it was damaged. They then made me drive back to the front of the store to unload it when I told them they damaged it. Don't think im ever going back to that location. In my opinion, the gm on duty is to blame, he fosters an atmosphere of pompousity.

The GM at Menards in Port Huron is the absolute worst person I have ever encountered. I went to do a return on a item that I had ordered online with my special needs son who does not talk. My son got frustrated because the woman trying to do the return had no idea what she was doing so it was taking her forever. She kept telling me that she could not match the order number to the email in her computer. I asked her to call her manager up to the front to help her, and instead she called up another employee, by the name of Tatyana who was also rude and said they would not do a return without the receipt, I showed them the receipt and she kept telling me it was not the correct receipt. She said there's several emails you should have gotten. I showed her all the emails and it was the confirmation email receipt with my card numbers and confirmation number on it and that is what they told me they needed to do the return. I asked for a manager again in which the GM Mark came to the front of the store and my son had lost all of his patience at this point he looked at my son with complete disgust and jumped back from him, I told him that my son was special needs that he was so unprofessional for The way he was looking at my son and treating him like he was disgusting and that all I was trying to do was a return and I thought this would be much more simpler than they were making it. He told me that I'm not going to stand here and demand a return from the GM, he said you were going to leave my store immediately. He said I did not have a receipt, he walked up with an attitude immediately because Tatyana told him that I was being an issue. I I told him I was not leaving until he gave my money back. I pulled up the email again and showed mark the same email that I had shown the women Julie and then he finally gave me the refund and said that the employee Julie didn't know how to do a special merchandise return. He said I have refunded the money back to your card ma'am and I walked out without saying anything further to him. After the thousands upon thousands of dollars that I have spent between my husband's work and our home remodels I would never step foot into a Menards store again knowing that they employ managers who treat people with disabilities so horrible! I will take my business to Lowe's and home Depot from now on.

I feel it is extremely necessary to mention that I was in the Port Huron store this morning and the level of customer service that I received from two male employees was OVER THE TOP! I was first talking to one gentlemen who was trying very hard to help me find a replacement knob for my window A/C and then he employed further help from another gentlemen employee. We searched a few different locations, with the latter man retrieving further information for me as to where I could possibly find it. I really couldn't devote much more time to trying to look as I had other shopping to do in a small amount of time... And although I didn't get their names I'm sure they know who they are and I would really appreciate it if they were commended for the level of service they were so graciously willing to give me! I'll be back!! And if you don't find out their names then I will and I'll add to this review ☺️

One of the many reasons I like shopping here is how I find a new thing every time. This most recent trip I found the self service saw) cutting station out in the lumber yard.
Other stores: "Saw is for employee use only! Don't touch or else!!"
Menards: "Here's a saw, go nuts"

worst customer service ever, Parked in handicap by garden center as I’m post op from back surgery, had to walk all the way to main entrance cause garden center entrance closed at 8:30 AM, no help or cashier in garden center to help with mulch or anything else, then had to walk all the way to main entrance again to cash out. went to customer service and still no help, said i can order online and pick up, the manger just watched me limp out the door! will be going to Depot or Lowe’s from now on

I've had several bad experiences here. Some employees are very great people. Most are just lazy, rude, and treat you like a inconvenience to them. It's hard to get help loading items. Very understaffed in the yard. There was 1 guy there trying to do everything there today. A manager came out to yard seen the guy trying to help customers and told him to go unload a truck. She didnt bother to help just walked off. Didnt send any help out that i seen either. Most of there policies are not shopper friendly. The rebates are just a joke. Most of the time you will never see them. If you get a defective item don't bother taking it back to store. I was told with a chainsaw once you buy it it's like a used car it's yours. That came from the actual store manager.

If u like being treated like an idiot and a thief this is the place to go. While most of their people are super nice one bad apple ruins the bunch. Just spent $ 125 and had to go to lumber yard for one purchase they didn’t have what they sold me in stoke which i thought was pretty bad but when they’re lumber yard guy found something that would’ve worked he handed it to me and said bring this up front with the receipt and they will swap it out. The new item being cheaper than the one already purchased so I grab the item bring it to the gate and explain what the lumber yard guy said he looked right at me and no he didn’t that’s not our policy as if I was trying to steal an item that was cheaper than the purchased one. So after words were exchanged I ultimately went right inside and returned the entire order and will NEVER shop here again!

Barely any staff, the staff they do have is more interested in making sales than actually being helpful or just not interested at all. Furthermore, they have almost no product knowledge.

The store overall is messy, there's a ton of dust, the second floor is borderline dangerous composed mostly wood splinters & actually is sinking in some places, allot of product looks tampered with or is damaged, overstock pallets are stocked half wrapped or in sketchy unstable ways.

There's way better places to do hardware business. Go to Lowes.

Ordered 2 door panels gave the salesman pic of door and model # picked up door panels got home totally wrong panels guy was rude on phone said 25 percent restocking Fee when in fact they ordered wrong panels..talked to MARKthe manager who was also rude and said he don't need my 120k a year in business...SO BACK TO HOME DEPOT ...NEVER AGAIN

Had the items that I needed, which included drywall. I needed help to load up in my van, but no one readily available to help. Ended up doing it myself, splitting the pairs to singles that I could barely manage. Seem understaffed.

I will never shop this store again. I was doing a bathroom makeover and went into store with exact dimensions of vanity I needed. Bought the sink top to fit. Also bought a stand up shower package along with many other things.
Contractor started to install the shower and one of the walls was broken at the bottom. Contractor told me that the person that put it in the truck dropped it prior to loading. Then contractor installed the vanity unit and the sink top. They gave me the wrong size vanity!!!! I couldn't return it at this point because the contractor didn't know. So I have to return the sink I really wanted and get a much smaller sink to fit a vanity I did not want.
Do these people know what they are doing? Doesn't seem like it.
I will not recommend or go to any Menards again

Love the store otherwise.
I went to check out and paid with cash. I gave the cashier a $20 and while he entered that amount, I told him I had change. I said I can give u the exact change so I don't get any coins back. He then stares, I already entered it in and I can't do that. I said it's simple math, exact change and ur drawer won't be short. He didn't say anything else and handed me the changed. Really!?

Menards in Port Huron truly saved the day.
We rented a U-Haul on Sunday to get our washer and dryer out of our old apartment and U-Haul didn’t give us our appliance dolly we paid for(U-Haul store was closed so we couldn’t get it). We called Menards and the woman was so nice on the phone and assured us we can rent one from Menards.
We had family helping us move, truly saved the day.

They attempt to manipulate you into buying more by putting the entrance and exit at opposite sides of the building which makes you walk thru more of the store, super inconvenient for contractors trying to be efficient with their time.....also, their rebates are a joke....I've filled out three and never received one yet....been almost a year....Menards just screams "we don't care about our customers".....I'll stick with Home Depot or my local hardware store....eff Menards.

worst customer service from nolyn however it’s spelled from customer service. as soon as i walked in he gave the rudest look. was basically carelessly handling my items i was trying to exchanged dropped a few . and was very rushing and rude . i’ll stay going to lowe’s i always get the worst service from the younger kids .

Port hurn store , Worst interaction ever, customer service was awful. Policy's are to screw the customers. My mother purchased 5 plants in 2022 before she passed away. The plants died, so I brought them back to menards. Now even tho they had all the tags on them including price paid , I was told that with out the receipt there was nothing they were gonna do for me . I explained that they were a gift and the purchase was made by my mom who is now passed . There was no way I could get the receipt. They then ask if I could go though her things to try and find it ??? Are fing kidding me ??? So instead of helping a customer with compassion and good customer service, they opted to be asshats and implie that i was lying . Ill never patron there again and warn others not go either they should be ashamed of how they treated me ! Hands down worst company ever. Port Huron store

Menards is huge...you could spend hours just checking out everything. I was a little disappointed they didn't have a big variety of outside garden ornamental statues and such. Years ago I had bought a huge outside bird...somewhat like a pelican maybe?! It was beautiful...I received tons of compliments on it...I haven't seen anything like it since.

Large variety of rv and camping equipment. No long wait today. An easier trip than usual. Not sure if I got lucky or Menards upped its game, but I'll take it.....Update 1/19/23* Must have been luck. My check out experience was so bad I left my full cart and walked out. No amount of savings is worth the horrible experience. I prefer higher quality merchandise anyway......I believe some employee training is in order. Update 2-5-25 NO SALT IN FEBRUARY. Nice job Menards. Off to Lowes again......No more poor quality Masterforce tools, off brand food, or Chinese knock offs. Done with Menards for good. Update*****5/31/25. Actually shredded my Big card right in the store today. Customer service is horrible. Handicap accessibility is very poor. The store layout maximizes sales but runs customers in circles. Yeah, you may save a buck, but you sacrifice product quality and shopping convenience. Bottom line is Menards is the bargain bin, bottom of the barrel home improvement store in our area. I will now refuse to purchase anything from Menards, even at a clients request. I will also not install or deal with Menards branded anything.

Great if you need to use a bathroom. Product selection good but the atmospheres not worth it. Managers and team members are rude, unless they're attracted to you. Loss prevention was creepy- made me uncomfortable, so I took my money elsewhere.

* Update this last visit I was delighted to have my autism pointed out by an employee while I was shopping it was very uncomfortable, she basically hung around trying to rush my decision and if you thought I was stealing because of my clothes or idk? u could've just asked- be direct. Again loss prevention was also creepy, very obvious and clearly had nothing better to do.google loss prevention tactics if u wish to improve
