Don't try to redeem a "military discount" here as its a 10-20 minute process of searching for a golden egg. I usually prefer Lowe's to home depot, but this store has too many incompetent workers. Thank you, Paula for being the outlier and correcting these faults for me many times. That being said, after 20+ visits to this store with a hopeful outlook, I will be going to Home Depot from now on.

Normally when I visit the Lowe’s store in Fairbanks in person, I receive good service. But this morning’s experience over the phone was the exact opposite — more like “customer no-service.”

I called with a simple question and was placed on hold while the associate "checked something." I waited 28 minutes on hold with no updates. So, I called back from another line. The same associate answered, and when I told her I was still on hold on the other line, I asked, “Is anyone ever going to pick up?” Her response? She didn’t know I was still waiting and didn’t seem to know what happened. I asked if the phone system didn’t show someone still on hold, but she gave no clear answer. Then — conveniently or not — the line disconnected.

I called back again and asked to speak with a manager. Instead of being transferred to one, I was sent to a random department. I asked again to speak with a manager and was sent right back to the same person at customer service. At that point, I gave up. That’s nearly an hour of wasted time.

Out of curiosity (and frustration), I called Home Depot right next door — and what a difference! Quick, professional, and helpful. Same town, same kind of store, but the right associate makes all the difference.

Thank goodness for competition and the ability to take my business elsewhere.

If you are a military family DONT ORDER from Lowe’s Fairbanks. They said they deliver on base - took 2 weeks for first date to deliver-, but the driver refused to wait for his van to be inspected at the gate and left with our washer and dryer and marked the order as delivered. Refused to give me his supervisor phone number and nobody in Lowe’s picks up the phone. Don’t trust them if you are PCSing, just a horrible experience in the middle of the move and not having a washer and a dryer just tops it off. You are better off getting it at Home Depot and bring it in yourself, I’m going to ask for a refund and do just that.

The customer service is so bad here that we started getting a kick out of it and find it funny so I’m giving two stars instead of just one for the humor we obtain.

“The bar code won’t scan, can you just start writing down the skew number when you shop here”

“Can you look it up in your system?”

“That would take longer than you walking back to get a different one, please come back with a different item”

lol train your employees. I don’t work here or get an employee discount for helping your employees troubleshoot issues with your store.

I placed a simple pickup order for C&D delivery to pick up and they forgot to get my ladder ready in time despite having 2 days to simply grab the ladder and bring it to the Front. Additionally, they didn’t have anything else ready for the pickup either and didn’t let C&D know that the ladder was even part of the order so now they have to make another trip to get it. Only problem with that is that no matter what number I call, I can’t get a human on the phone to speak with about the issue and ensure that the ladder will be ready tomorrow. Horrible service and extremely unprofessional which is now causing more and more issues for me.

I went for a couple of items that cost me about $300 at Ace Hardware when I got ready to check out at Lowe's there are no checkout clerks it's all self-serve. Well that doesn't fit me I enjoy talking and I enjoy asking questions about what I bought. You find that at Ace Hardware and you don't have to chase them around the store to get it. Back when I first bought a home I always went to Ace Hardware and unfortunately I got out of the habit. It doesn't take long going to ace to remember why you go there service that you don't find at Lowe's

This store is an absolute joke. I ordered an appliance on April 15 with a scheduled delivery date of May 14. On May 12, I even received a confirmation text. So I called to double-check — waited over 20 minutes on hold — and when someone finally answered, they couldn’t give me a delivery date, couldn’t tell me where my order is, and had zero useful information.

No accountability. No communication. No clue. Completely unacceptable.

I Stood in the tool isle for 25 mins after hitting the help button then I called the store trying to see if anyone could help me they called on the over head and then refused to come help me still. I waited another 25mins and then gave up because no one was coming. Disappointed.

I usually go to HomeDepot. I found Lowes to be cleaner with MUCH LESS unshelved product still on the pallet and in the aisle.

Came in thursday and purchased a new washing machine and arranged to pickup on wednesday as they do not deliver to my home 45 miles away. Appliance checkout lady thought it would be charming to crack a joke about my facial tic, which i attempted to get past but now its sunday and they gave us the wrong washer, a bottom of the line cheapo we didnt discover until we got home. After 4 times of being put on hold for 20 minutes and being told "well you can come back and get the right one", and a farcical offer to discount the crappy little one they gave us if we just keep it, we made the NINETY MILE round trip and now are standing at customer service while everyone acts like they have no idea what we are talking about. Guess im a Home Depot gal now

Easy to find products. Staff is hit and miss but for the most part most of them try. Home Depot is across the street and Walmart in between lol.

I went into the Fairbanks store on 10/23/24 and purchased some window blinds. I needed 5 of them cut down. I went to the front counter and they got a hold of someone who works in that department and was on lunch. So I left the measurements on the blinds and my name and phone number
( what I was instructed to do) 2 days went by and no call, so I went back in and nothing was done. I talked to the girl (Claudia) and she told me she would take care of it. I went back in 3 days later and nothing was done talked to a manager (Katie) she assured me they would be done that day. I went in 2 days later and nothing was done! Spoke with the same manager (Katie) she told me she forgot about it. So after 4 different times no one had done anything!! I will never buy anything from them again even if I have to pay double the price!! Worst customer service ever!! Yes they did get them cut for me after a week and 4 trips.

I realize that it's close to the end of the line but during our short stay trying to order supplies for pick up was dismal. 2 days waiting for drywall to be ready for pick up was gut wrenching. We were unable to finish our project because of the wait. I get it, everyone needs supplies with winter approaching so why doesn't the manager hire extra people for the last good weeks of the " construction" season to deal with the mad rush. Can't say I won't shop here again because there are nice people working here and it's the only Lowe's around

Got what I wanted, very helpful staff. I do no like that there were no cashier's, we had bricks with no SKU's, and no one at the register to help. We did not buy those.

Initially had a bad experience in person with getting help for appliances due to very poor customer service. Have since ordered several appliances online with delivery, and everything worked smoothly. Locally Lowes has Home Depot beat in terms of available inventory since they have some room for storage.
There are some very good employees in the store. Had very prompt and professional help in customer service.
Like most box stores, it seems to be a mixed bag.

If I could leave -10 stars I would!

I preferred Lowes over Home Depot until this last visit! And now I'm never going back!

They have ZERO cashiers now. Not the one with a long line that was already annoying, but NONE!

There was one frazzled lady bouncing back and forth from register to register because EVERYONE needed her. Even if you're not a moron & can swipe crap easily they have so many things that need a key or a cashier approval that you can't just grab, scan & go.

HEAR THIS LOWE'S - I'm not shopping & then having to work for you for FREE!

ITS NOT MY JOB TO BE A CASHIER!

(Note: Home Depot is just around the corner! I did not go there so I don't know if they are also doing this crap, but I'll know next time - because Lowe's is NO LONGER AN OPTION!)

If I wanted to be a 52 year old cashier I could have saved a hell of a lot of time, money, energy & schooling and made that my career AND GOTTEN PAID FOR IT!

If I could give no stars I would. I placed an online pick up order at 10 am this morning and by 9:27pm it’s still not filled. So much for 3 hour pick up. When we called the first time we asked if we could just get the item off the shelf ourselves if the order hadn’t been filled. They said yes. However, we ended up calling a second time to get more details and see if they could put the item at the desk for us. The person who answered sounded high and as if she was the dumbest person on the planet. It was obvious she had no clue how to do her job and did nothing but talk to herself while we waited to hear something about our order. She put us on hold to find someone else, but that person hung up because we didn’t answer them fast enough when they took us off hold. We called back for a third time and the lady still sounded out of it and confused. We once again told her we would drive to town and come get the item ourselves because it sounds like everyone there is lazy. No apology for the inconvenience; all she did was defend the workers instead of acknowledging that she understood why we were upset. Order is still not filled. Luckily we found an AC elsewhere. We will not be shopping here anymore. What a horrible experience.

I would give zero stars if I could. Ordered a door on March 12th. I had to do their job and track down who the carrier was to try and track the door. Figured out who it was shipped by, and the door had already been delivered to lowes on may 29th, lowes didn't even realize. We had to go in with proof of delivery from span alaska and demand they look for the door. They found the door, promised to deliver it twice, and failed to show on the scheduled delivery days, because they were overbooked on deliveries. They have had the door sitting at the store now for 22 days and couldn't make us a priority for delivery. We decided to cancel and find a door somewhere different.

Carolyn, David and Miguel helped us load landscaping blocks into several pickup loads over the course of the weekend. They went above and beyond to stop what they were doing to organize a forklift each time. They were also quick to find pallets and blocks that were in great shape, ensuring we got our money’s worth.

Checked into curbside pickup no one came out for 45 minutes. Then I went inside , and I’m pretty sure that Kyle at refunds is a sloth in a humans body because it took him 5 minutes to write a few numbers on a piece of paper. Then after waiting for 30 more minutes I went back and and Kyle said “ not gonna lie I forgot you were on curbside order “ and to say the least I was dumbfounded by this response. Then after waiting 15 more minutes. I had to go in and make them take it out to my vehicle. If Kyle is not fired I will be very upset. From now on I am using Home Depot. Every time I go to Lowe’s it gets worse and worse. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOWES!
