What people say about “The Home Depot”?

Customer feedback regarding Home Depot is mixed, with many praising the knowledgeable staff and pleasant shopping experiences, but significant concerns about service and product availability remain. While some customers express satisfaction with the inventory and assistance they received, others report frustration with the long wait times for help in various departments and difficulties with returns and cash-back policies. Communication issues, especially regarding in-store inventory matching app results, also contribute to a less favorable perception. Overall, while the store offers a good selection and helpful employees, inconsistent service levels create challenges for shoppers.

You never have any issues at Home Depot. You know what you want before you get there. They almost always have what you're looking for, unless it's something you don't buy every day. Finding someone to help you in a specific department, such as appliances, home improvement, and so on, is the biggest area of concern, in my opinion.

What a disappointing experience the HD has become. I was set to buy a bundle of furring strips thinking the 10 pack was $2.67. Silly, me these trashy little scraps are $2.67 each…it’s “the tariffs”, I learned.
Some time ago, you used to be able to get a little help loading things but not anymore - it’s possibly too much for the low pay. Today I had a young employee, probably late 20’s watch me load an exterior door on top of the 40 2x4’s while an 80 year old fellow customer offered assistance. I got er loaded but man, I’m gonna get too old and too weak to shop there… time to start looking elsewhere.

They’ve got a good knowledgeable staff there! The guy in plumbing is really good. Don’t usually ask the staff at most Home Depot questions due to the fact that most of them cut the board three times and still too short. But I have to hand it to his Home Depot friendly, and polite and knowledgeable for the most.

This is a pretty good Home Depot location, up until the point that you receive help from a Gen Z that apparently doesn’t know how to work retail. Carrying a light bag and one can of paint, claimed she couldn’t open my car door (although I did so with carrying those same items when I got home), so I found myself opening the door for her, thanking her, and wishing her a good day just to get a “uh huh” and off she went. You can’t even fake being happy to serve someone who’s spending money at retail location you work for? Just going to complain that the not-heavy items you’re carrying make it too difficult to do your job. Sheesh.

All I wanted was some cash back with my purchases… Usually get great service but…
1. self checking… Sorry, can’t get cash back at self checking you have to go to a register. Someone can give you the cash… OK
2- at the register… Tried to get in cash back with credit card, but must use a debit card by the way… I ask i’d like to get cash back please OK grabs my card and swipe the chip then tells me sorry you can’t get cash back unless you insert the card … 3. Come back to the same register the next day tell her I want to get cash back attempt to insert the card because I know that’s the only way it works card error inserting and swiping does not work. Tried it four times each. She says it only works with a chip. Good luck! Once again, no cashback I go to Customer Service tell them the whole story they say yes you can only get it if you insert it they say it’s the only register open and I can’t get it anywhere else …..they say… You can always bring it here and check out and I said, but this is Customer Service for returns Etc. so you probably don’t want me to come down here checking out and they say right! I give up!

I wanted to share my thoughts on Rebecca, the cashier. She truly is the best! Always wearing a smile and ready to help, she makes shopping a pleasant experience. I noticed that on Sunday, while there was a long line and three cashiers were chatting, Rebecca was diligently working at self-checkout. When she saw the line growing, she took the initiative to open a new register, which was greatly appreciated. Her speed and positive attitude really stand out, and she deserves recognition for her hard work.

I can't say enough about how helpful everyone was here, but especially Greg! My boyfriend and I came through on a road trip needing to make some adjustments to a project and Greg was incredible with helping us with ideas. It's sometimes hard to find help at the big stores but we were very well taken care of.

As a truck driver I have to say this is one of the best HD to deliver to. Access to the receiving area was amazing. Organized and clean. Jeff in receiving was professional and super nice. Thank you for making my delivery a pleasure.

Pretty good selection. They're still having issues with inventory on their app versus what's in store, so if you order something through the app you might want to call to make sure it's in store if you need it immediately

Lo que más me gusta es que siempre encuentras la ayuda que necesitas. Si el empleado con el que estás no sabe la respuesta, el mismo busca a otro para que tengas lo que ocupas.

I love going there, can browse for hours. However, this time I wanted to buy stuff and they didn't have half of it in stock. Have to order online.

Spent 20 minutes looking for someone to help me in the garden center to but retaining brick in bulk. Couldn't find anyone. Found someone in lumber. Said that he would call someone to the garden area because he knew that they were goofing off. Went back to the garden are and waited another 20 min.

Same as all Home Depots, huge and spread out. Apparently, they have an app you can download to search for items and the isles they are in. A worker there was very friendly and found what we needed right away through this app! Very helpful and friendly!

Update your hours...says updated 2 weeks ago that its open until 8 but it's not 8 and they are closed. I'm updating my review to include the fact that there was some sort of power outage or electrical issue I don't actually know because no sign was posted or did the employees tell the people outside, but I do think the posted hours are correct?

I recently went to this Home Depot to purchase supplies to paint our bathroom. This is my list of which products I liked and which I didn't like:

1. Wooster Paint Brushes These were good quality and cleaned well.
2. Green Frog painting tape The tape was easy to use and the paint did not bleed through.
3. Behr Premium Plus paint. I will never buy this again. The sample swatch led me to believe my almond roca color was a much lighter brown. The result was a darker color and did not cover well. I had to do 2 coats. Next time I will buy a better quality paint somewhere else at twice the cost and half the work.

I like this store in general because they have just about everything. That said, however, I would say that 4 out of 5 times the employees that have helped me were not knowledgeable about their products. The company was excellent in rectifying any errors but I would prefer not to have had the problems to begin with.

Quick place to grab nearly anything for your home projects, from tools to appliances and drywall. Today, it was weather seals for doors and windows. Helped by the staff, and it was a quick sub-10 minutes trip for everything to do the job right! Great experience and fantastic people!

I purchased a dishwasher from Home Depot. Upon its arrival, I noticed an unusual amount of water inside the dishwasher, which I assumed was due to factory testing after a google search said there could be “a trace of water”. However, when I tipped the dishwasher, water came pouring out onto my carpet.
Furthermore, I observed that the dishwasher's door did not seem straight. It had a slight bend or arch to it. I considered that it was a sleek design for a new dishwasher and proceeded with the installation.

Dishwasher did not work.

Several individuals with tremendous experience attempted to troubleshoot the problem. It would turn on and hum, but it wouldn't pump water. Reflecting on its condition upon arrival, I concluded that it was faulty and needed to be returned. I did not have time to wait for a replacement to be delivered, so I decided to return the dishwasher and buy from a local small business. They keep dishwashers in stock and could deliver the same day.

I waited until Home Depot opened the next morning to return the dishwasher.

As a disabled individual, I face difficulties lifting or moving, especially large appliances. My neighbor loaded it, and I managed to get it on Home Depot's platform carts by slowly pulling the blanket it was placed on. However, the slight incline to the store's entrance caused significant pain in my back and legs as I attempted to pull the cart to the door. Two employees that were moving bark at the time watched the entire struggle without offering assistance.

Upon arriving at the store, I was informed that they couldn't accept my return because it was an online order. I pointed out that Home Depot advertises easy returns for all online orders directly to the store, which influenced my purchase decision. They cited a different part of their policy stating that all major appliances can be returned in-store within 48 hours, as long as the order wasn't placed online, which appeared contradictory or at the very least misleading.

I acknowledged my mistake in bringing the dishwasher to the store but explained my difficulties in transporting and that I had already brought the dishwasher to the store. Still, they insisted I should take it home and schedule a time for them to pick it up. Despite the dishwasher sitting in front of them, they refused the return. I continued to argue and after they made a few phone calls, they maintained their stance, only this time they threatened not to authorize any sort of return because the dishwasher had left my house. Frustrated and realizing that escalating the situation wouldn't help, I decided to leave and contact Home Depot customer support.

Upon reaching home, I called customer support, and they explained that it is their practice to have returns picked up from the customer's home, but as a courtesy. However, I asked if I could return it to the store, to which they confirmed I could. I shared my experience with the support representative, who apologized for the way I was treated, especially given my condition.

She clarified that coding the return as "item already in the store" was a common practice and that there should have been no issue with my return. Although I had the option to return to the store that denied me, the online customer service representative ultimately scheduled a pickup from my property. This was to prevent further interaction. The representative also offered compensation towards the future purchase of a dishwasher, which I declined due to my urgent need for a replacement now. I may call back and see how long that offer would stand. It would come in handy down the road.

Unfortunately, I couldn't leave the dishwasher in my vehicle as I needed all the seats for my children. This forced me to attempt to unload it myself, resulting in what feels like a slipped disc.

In conclusion, I strongly advise avoiding this store at all costs. I know it is difficult because there are limited options in the area, but it is not worth the trouble. They are not in the business of doing the right thing.

This home depot sucks for customer service. I went in looking for RV antifreeze and asked this young man by the entrance. He said yeah it on isle 27 about half way down. Well that was in the middle and at the back of the store. I got there and it's the plumbing fixtures. So I asked the next guy I saw. He said yes I have some up in the front of the store by self checkout. So I walked back through the whole store and low and behold there's none there. I went back and found the second guy and told him there was no RV antifreeze up there and he just says oh well... I don't carry very much stuff for cars.. the people who work there are idiots !!

A lack of respect for their customers, but especially veterans. After attempting to shop here, my father and I were greeted with an unhappy, rude, and snarky employee at the checkout. He made unnecessary comments about our total after discounting a broken item with, "Oh, would you look at that.." and "Ok, your total is a x, a whopping $6 difference". Before my father went to pay, he showed the cashier his military ID as he is a veteran and Home Depot offers military discounts. The cashier immediately started an argument with him about how it's, 'against corporate policy' to scan his card and, "you have to do it on the app". The cashier absolutely refused to apply the discount and even told my father that it wasn't his problem and it's my dad's fault he won't apply the discount since he doesn't have the app.

The odd part is that not even a week ago my mother and I were at the Home Depot in Pasco and the lady assisting us told my mother, "Thank you for your service" and happily added the discount after my mother showed her ID. Is it against corporate policy? If so, fire the lady at the Pasco location because she clearly violated the policy and even had the gall to thank my mother for her service. The absolute nerve. Yet, this cashier in College Place is willing to start an argument over the same action? Not to mention the Hermiston location also doesn't enforce this 'corporate policy'... Either way, my father didn't pay and we walked out. Why support a business that treats their customers that way?

Needless to say, this Home Depot clearly doesn't value their customers and has no respect for veterans. I advise others to support the Home Depot in Hermiston and Pasco rather than this one as they themselves don't support you.

TL;DR- Rude cashier refuses to honor father's military discount as it can only applied through the Home Depot app due to 'corporate policy'. My mother and I went to the Pasco Home Depot 4 days ago and they had no problem honoring discount without the app. The irony. Guess it pays (or lack thereof) to be a jerk.

Update 5/15?....oh I'll call some1 to help u unload those heavy items! I went back 3 times to ask! Cashier Lied to me! Finally(45 min later)w supervisor (who I saw) helped me unload a bunch! Soooo. I dropped 3 Stars.

Not Home Depot's fault for the astronomical increase in the prices of building products! But....but they don't mind at all passing them to us! So I debated...1 Star or 5...I'm a nice guy!
They are very helpful if you go to the service desk!!!

Smiles are few and far between here
Bad attitudes abound and doing business here, can be unpleasant.
We purchased a Traeger pellet grill here this week, assembled and delivered. Delivery was fine but was framed in by pallets and was told the store would appreciate them coming back to the store. We brought them back and was told they really didn't want them but if we wanted to leave take them to the loading area. We did so and was told to take them to the customer service dept. OMG this store's staff is dysfunctional with attitudes. If I asked which is up to three employees, they would point in 3 different directions.
PS One piece was missing for the grill and was told to bring it back. So rather than supply the missing small piece, return the grill. Absolutely insane!!!
Doing business here is like going to crazy town. Confusion and disservice, rule the day.

2. How long does roof replacement take?

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
