Sutherlands - Topeka, KS

I was reminded this week why it's better to shop at a big name store like Home Depot or Lowes. Bought a gallon of paint and on my way home, the gallon knocked over in my van. Shouldn't have been a problem... if the lid to the paint was sealed leaving the store. I started smelling paint and so I pulled over and noticed paint spilling ALL OVER THE FLOOR OF MY VAN. I called and spoke with the manager... thinking it's the least they could do for me to replace the gallon of paint that I had just spent $60 on and was not able to use because the lid was left open leaving the store. He told me it was my fault and didn't agree to replace the paint, but did promise me a discount if I came in that night to get a new gallon. 15% off! Wow! What a great gesture. He even had the nerve to try to upsell us a product to remove the paint from my van carpets. Next time I need something for my new home, I'll shop elsewhere due to the lack of empathy and lack of basic customer service skills from this manager.

So two weeks ago I took my bow into Sutherlands in North Topeka to have a new string and cables put on and also have the cams adjusted so they’re in time. I called yesterday and it had been done for a couple of days and they hadn’t called me to pick it up yet. So I picked it up and took it home and tried to shoot a little last night. I absolutely couldn’t pull it back what so ever. So after talking to a couple of my buddies who bow hunt we determined something was wrong with it. So I took it back today to have it looked at and the bow tech tried for 30 minutes to figure out the problem to which he figured out he put the cables on wrong. And he tried 3 different times to get them right and he couldn’t so he goes over to his computer and looks at google images to figure out how they are supposed to be in the cams. Finally he got it right and the bow was able to be pulled back both by him and myself. I get home to sight my bow in and I notice the string was damaged where he had it in the cam wrong. I called the store to talked to the manager and told him I’d either like new cables or my money back. He told me they could order the new string in and they would put it on. I told the manager I would take the new cables and I wouldn’t be allowing them to work on my bow anymore so he told me they couldn’t do that but I could have my money back if I had my receipt. And I said well I hope I still had it and this manager started laughing at me because I wasn’t sure if I had my receipt or not. (Which I did find it) so anyone that bow hunts around Topeka I strongly recommend NOT taking your bow to them! The guy behind the counter has no clue what he’s doing and the manager was extremely unprofessional!

This location has a wonderful inventory, including cross bows and free, first hands-on lesson with purchase that I'm aware of. They had the materials that inspired the Perigola-type structure that I built for my mother. They offer a military discount. Pretty friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend them for your property investment needs.

I buy my HVac filters there, they have them in stock. That's the only business they are getting from me, due to the fact that those weird managers and customer service people walk and follow you around.The younger floor people are friendly, but seem unhappy to be there, just so depressing in there.

We love going to this store it is super convenient they are 30mins from us vs an 1hr to home Depot or Lowe's, The people there are really nice, We bought a mower from them a few weeks ago today we were mowing and our tire whent flat so we brought it in and they fixed the tire free of charge. The last couple times we went we had a guy named Evan he was super nice and helpful also helped us get a mower and deliver. I would recommend going here.

I went there because I was in town. I needed a couple fuses,and they had something that would fix my problem. I also priced some breaker boxes. They don't have everything, but they had what I need. In this destroyed economy, they have pretty decent selection of electrical things.

If you don't want to have to deal with the stress of Wannamaker then this is your store for almost anything you need for your home or business, great prices and friendly service.

Very impressed with my experience here. I had 3 different employees welcome me in to the store, and it was very clean and had a lot of merchandise. Good variety of landscaping material, and nice selection of trees.

I had to return some extra materials I'd purchased. Sutherlands made it super easy. The store is always clean, and the people are friendly and competent.

It's the one large, "box store" that still has the feel of a neighborhood hardware store. Friendly, knowledgeable staff and a great inventory.

Was okay. Nothing there to get excited about. If you go to the west side to the bigger stores you can find better prices and more options.

Good experience this morning. Very nice manager helped me find what I was looking for. I'm somewhat intimidated by home centers. I felt welcome and appreciated.

Very helpful, had two men load 30 sheets of drywall into the truck and off we went, in and out in a minute.

Low on hired help, but what they did have for help were really nice and got my request done as quickly as they could. My overall experience was worth the drive

Had a good time there with shopping today. I got some really good flowers and found all the other stuff I was looking for. It is handy for me, less than one mile from my house.

This store is awesome! I was greeted as I was coming in the door friendly happy employees working got the help I needed cashier that checked me out was super and all employees went above and beyond that I encountered I will go back

Their prices aren't usually as good as the other big box stores but some things are less there. It's a great place for gardening supplies. The help is usually knowledgeable & helpful
