This store can get overwhelming at a very fast pace, but it was a rather chilled and laid back experience this go around.

BUYER BEWARE: I paid $1600 for items to be delivered. They rescheduled my delivery through Voicemail, didn't ask my input. We couldn't wait for a $100 bucket of sealant. I called ahead and sent my business partner up to pick up the sealant. I was told they would just make a note that I had picked it up being that I had already paid for it. Instead of marking that down, they canceled my entire order, recharged me for the sealant and then recharged me for another $1500. The overdrafted my business checking doing this and I incurred NSF fees. The mess they made with the accounting only got worse from there. I had to spend more time on the phone sorting things out with my bank, filling out forms to request my NSF fees back, and request the double charge for the sealant back. In addition to that the delivery was canceled because the Lowe's ordering system was registering it as unpaid since they kept making multiple attempts to draft my account. The employees and Manager were rude and unapologetic for making a mess out of my delivery. Their corporate office did nothing about my complaint through their chat service. What a headache to deal with them for something as simple as a delivery. They are a $118 Billion dollar company but they can't deliver supplies and lumber or sort out their accounting properly for a small business owner. I will NEVER order lumber or delivery from them ever again and you should be careful and think twice before you do too. They did end up bringing our lumber and supplies after hours of wasted time sorting it out but in order to be vengeful (even though it was their mess up) they gave us sub par wood. Every post they gave us was bent and crooked. This is a location where the people clearly just want a paycheck they could care less about building a local community where local businesses are hospitable.

Seems like everyone in lumber has something to do other than help customers and then when I finally get someone to help, they call someone else because they're "too busy" yet I watched the dude walk back behind the register and start texting on his phone. It baffled me the lack of work ethic in those employees. I have also never been charged to cut lumber at any Lowe's or Home Depot I've ever been to and their "cut" prices were more than the wood I purchased. Absolutely insane and for sure will not be back. Better off going to a mom and pop lumber store to support your local communities instead of wasting an hour to drive there just to be ignored by staff and have to wait around for 2 HOURS to get 2 boards cut. I would have just left but they leave their skid steers in front of the most used lumber and expect patrons to work around their equipment. Should have done it cause had I hurt myself it would have been a hell of a pay day.

The store’s small space is filled with numerous displays occupying the middle of the aisles. Despite this, it’s an overall great experience. I always find it convenient to enter the store and find what I need.

Im sorry for bothering you. I stood in the wire cutting area and waited for help. I pushed the button no one responded to the call for help on the intercom. I needed the wire for a job. All the employees in the next row went to lunch and so did I. They watched me pace back and forth. Someone said it's lunch time and they all scattered. From the looks of the other reviews I'm not the only one.
Thanks

Very nice well stocked store I really do not like being forced to use self checkout. It’s nice if it’s an option but not at this store you have to self checkout or go to contractor sales in lumber.

Been going to Lowes as long as i can remember. I give 2 stars because I HATE self-checkout!! I Don't Work for Lowes! Should be a option for customers NOT the ONLY option... If they only realized how much FREE merchandise walks out the door because of it.
I refuse to use it. I walk all the way down to contractor sales or lawn and garden. Makes No sense to inconvenience your customers and try to Force them to use something just so you Think you are saving a penny! When you have Dollars walking out the door due to self-checkout!... Lowes is Not the only place to shop.

So disappointed in the Pounding Mill store we’ve been in and out a few times a week and every time it just seems to get worse the trash outside and inside in the floors are awful and the employees walking around doing nothing. Really needs better management and someone on trash detail.

I was at Lowe’s of Claypool Hill today and bought over $2000 dollars of building materials, I had to get all my lumber myself with Lowe’s employees watching and never offering there help, I was recovering from a shoulder replacement and sure they could tell I was struggling to load the lumber, it actually looked like they were avoiding me. I asked one if they could help me that I needed 3 rolls of mesh wire for concrete and 80 1/2’ 20 foot rebar and he replied he would be getting off in 10 minutes and couldn’t help and he called someone else and they responded that they had just gotten there. I went ahead and checked out and paid for what I needed and asked the cashier at the lumber desk if they could get someone to get those items for me and they contacted someone. I proceeded to load my truck with all the lumber I had gotten with no help and still had to wait an hour and a half to two hours before they brought me my order. There claims of great customer service is false and the help they have is riding the clock on them!!! I don’t know if I’ll ever go back!!! Telling others my story and they said they were done the same way. What happened to the days when you could get help? They raised the minimum wage and people are working less!!! If anyone else has these same issues please make them aware that they need to improve there help. They want you to pay the high prices and get everything yourself! Bad business!!!!

Don't trust the manager here... Purchased an oven here and within a year it didn't operate properly. Discussed with the manager here and he claimed the warranty starts when the order was placed.

Correctamundo. It is when the appliance is installed, not when purchased. Apparently, they don't like helping little, old ladies here having appliance issues with products sold from this store.

Go to Walmart, Home Depot, Amazon, don't trust these idiots!!

Otr drivers, you might be able to check in at 630 if you say please and thank you. 18 pallets in and out. You gotta wait till the yellow gates are open, come right around the building and set up for a blind side although. You’ll be able to site side

This location is just ok. It always seem hard to get assistance from employees that are usually standing around in small groups cutting up. I purchased 3 6x6x12 posts. I asked for help loading them on the cart and was told that someone would meet me at the lumber. After several minutes, my wife and I loaded them ourselves. They have lots of young employees having a good time, but don't care to assist the customers. Maybe Lowe's needs to take a look at the management of this store.

Worst experience to date in the store. Plumbing section is a complete mess. Spent an hour digging through fittings to find what I needed. Spent another 30 minutes pushing the button in electrical 3 times to get someone to unlock the wire in the cage I needed. Not to mention a phone call to the electrical department nobody picked up. Kids running everywhere as apparently making kids happy during Halloween is more important than helping a customer get his water back. Had to go to another store because when checking out realized someone had put the wrong size fitting in the box I got it out of. The only redeeming point of the whole trip was that I helped a gentleman find the breaker he needed when he asked for help when he realized neither of us were getting helped anytime soon. If my water wasn't out I would have left all of what I bought and just ordered it from Amazon and Home Depot. The sad thing is Lowe's was great 20 years ago and now I can't find plumbing fittings but I can buy clothing there.

Inadequate assistance with finding a list of 5 items, misdirection to product's locations causing time wasting and retracing steps. *Very helpful lady employee at the Lumber checkout/pickup area, efficient, knowledgeable, and timely help.

Looking for some plumbing stuff. We didn't have to ask anyone where stuff was but I've been to this Lowe's and if we had asked someone, they'd have known right where whatever was. Very helpful employees!

I go to Lowe’s for everything regarding the home. But the Lowe’s in Claypool Hill is smaller than the one in Bluefield. I recently needed trim wood and the local Lowe’s did not have it but the Bluefield Store did. Now in all fairness I could have ordered it and Claypool would have gotten it but in this particular case I had to see the trim. I will say in both stores the staff is great and everyone is waring a mask and practicing social distancing

Found everything we needed for the job on our own in appr. 30 minutes. Probably less than 5 minutes after checking out, someone loaded the pallet of concrete bags onto our truck.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
