Home Genius Exteriors is a wonderful, phenomenal and great roofing company!
They really helped out my father and I in a time of emergency and trouble. The ceiling and roof collapsed in a corner of my room, leaving a huge gapping hole due to unexpected water damage, caused by all of the excessive rain/ inclement weather we have been experiencing.
I called, explained the situation and received priority in getting a immediate scheduled appointment for estimate. The next day, we received an visit and roof replacement estimate from Rusty. We applied for financing, was approved and the replacement of the roof commenced two days later, promptly Monday morning.
Roofing Crew was Awesome ( Ezekiel, Alex, Joshua and Herado)! Very professional, knowledgeable, excellent work ethic and very prompt and always on time!
Val, our project Coordinator was excellent in contacting us to get us scheduled as promptly as needed.
A.J Smith was our Project Manager, and he was just phenomenal! Highly professional, direct, and helped us solve a minor financial situation.
Lastly, Eric, District Manager was also, just awesome!
Assisted us in finalizing all of our financing. Exteriors roof is complete and it looks beautiful!
Finally, A.J. is organizing and finalizing the job to fix the hole in my room, beginning next week.

Home Genius Exteriors just finished my roof, and the whole process was impressive from start to finish. Kevin Short was my project manager, and he really stood out for his clear communication and thoroughness. He answered every question I had, even when it was about other parts of the project, and made sure the crew knew exactly what needed to be done. The roofing crew themselves were great, on time, respectful, and they did a fantastic job with cleanup.

Since Kevin already has a good handle on my project and has made the process stress-free, I’d love for him to manage the rest of my exterior work, too. It’s been great having someone detail-oriented and easy to reach throughout this whole thing.

Beware of Home Genius Exteriors – this company is a nightmare when it comes to respecting boundaries and following the law. After initially inquiring about their services, they’ve been relentlessly harassing me with multiple texts and phone calls every single day. I’ve asked them repeatedly to remove me from their list, but they ignore it completely.
I even went so far as to send a cease and desist message via text, and they responded saying they would honor it – but that was a lie. The harassment hasn’t stopped; if anything, it’s gotten worse. This is not just annoying; it’s illegal under telemarketing laws and reeks of terrible business practices. No reputable company should operate like this.
In the end, I had to shell out $80 for a robocall blocking app just to get some peace, because they call me from like a hundred different phone numbers all day, every day. Stay far away from Home Genius Exteriors – they’re not worth the headache!

He called to report an estimated time of arrival which was accurate. :-) His attentiveness to the successful completion of our project was refreshing. He and Kevin came out to thoroughly inspect the completion of the project. They answered our questions concerning other home projects and made suggestions. We recently had them come out to fix the siding and the window. They didn’t do the window right so they had to come back the next day and didn’t come at the time they said they were going to. It doesn’t look the greatest but I guess it will work. It is also very weird that they watch you while u write a review. After the window was done, I had to do a survey where he watched me and then changed the numbers I put originally put down to a 10. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone.

Home Genius was timely, professional and made sure that my roof replacement went well. They were the only company that done an attic inspection during my process of finding a company to replace my roof, it sold me!

Had a free no obligation quote done by rusty for new doors and attic insulation. I don't think I've ever had a more unprofessional "sales" experience before. Rusty said he wasn't a sales person but was filling in. He did the normal measurements and questions to build out a quote. Then sat down and went over them. That's when it went down hill. His tablet kept having emails pop up about someone from the office having to talk to him about issues they were having with him. At least that's what it looked like. Then I had to switch with my wife taking care of our daughter within ear shot. He dismissed almost all her questions and even laughed at her. She asked if he had any information about the doors and he said "what? A fancy pamphlet about how good this door is would make you want to get it" and then laughed. He said that over 95% of the installers in the area used the same doors they were using. Then tried to have us sign paperwork when we had said we just wanted a quote because yes, we are shopping around. He said that's not normal. Had we done it with other things replaced in house? Yes we had. Then went on about how they were a platinum roofer with corning... and I said so was the company I went with that did my roof and they gave me a guaranteed quote. My wife had to excuse herself because she didn't feel her opinion or questions were being valued. So he said he would email us a quote that might be different than what he had shown us after. Handed me a card that said sales manager. So no. He wasn't a sales person. He was the SALES MANAGER. Then he never emailed me a quote. And even after I called again to ask for it. No quote. I guess they just don't want business. When offering the same product as everyone else the smart thing to do is shop around. But I guess home genius isn't too smart or has something to hide since they want you to do the purchase right then and can't rely on them being the best or best price to get your business.

Home Genius is amazing! From day one when I met sales mgr. He was not pushy, but patiently answered all my concerns. I was sold. The next day the roofers came on time, worked diligently on a hot day and finished with excellence. They cleaned up thoroughly and I have a beautiful roof. I highly recommend them!

The work looks wonderful! My Home is beautiful and the neighborhood is already asking about it. Mark handled my project. He was so nice and professional. Very easy to talk to. The crew was on point and dint stop until the job was done . Great experience

10 out of 10. Workers very competent and friendly. Supervisor Mark and Foreman Elmer very responsive with requests and communication. Job looks beautiful. Only (tiny) hitch was it took longer than advertised, but since we had no deadline, it was not a problem. Unexpected problems with original siding were resolved quickly and fairly. They even fixed a soffit problem for free that was not in the signed contract.

The salesmen stated that a special condition was entered into the contract. It was not done. Roofing project manager never came to site. Crew left siding open at j-channels. Had to get them to come back and correct j-channels and siding that was damaged during roof installation. Also damaged rain gutter at front of house. Don't want to deal with hassle of the project manager to try to get it fixed. I'll take care of it myself. Be wary when dealing with this group.

I really didn't know what to expect when I was contacted because I wanted an estimate, for siding. When the representative came to the house, he was very friendly and quite knowledgeable on the products carried by his company. When the workers came to do the job, they were clean and courteous.

Work was great but the clean up afterwards is basically bad. I still have leftover materials in my yard and the work was completed on April 30th. I have call the company's customer service department and the Site Supervisor and nothing has been picked up to date.

This company did an excellent job fixing the siding on our home that blew off from a storm. Very courteous and knowledgeable. Workers were quick and fast with the job. Extremely satisfied

They were the first to call and offer a quote. They nogotiated the price with me and I felt the price was worth the work for complete gutter replacement, to include new wood, trim, gutters with leaf gaurds and all new down spouts. The wood and trim was accomplished first. I was very happy with the work Mark Johnson's crew did an outstanding job! The trim was secure and sealed very well also completed in one afternoon.

Eric, one of HGE's training managers, cares about people as well. He teaches home remodeling experts in training to focus on helping the homeowners make an educated decision based on their needs. Eric wants his students to do things ethically from start to finish. There's no compromise with him in that. Passion isn't the word.

Don't worry. It gets better.

Rusty, the HGE Manager for the Tidewater region, also cares about people. I've seen this first hand as well. He teaches his team to go above and beyond for every homeowner. Even if that means HGE misses out on giving the biggest estimate available. You can't teach that or buy it on Amazon.

I have a sign requesting no solicitors at my home. Salesman ignored the sign to tell me he’s actually not selling anything just bothering people at their homes about whatever. Why is it so hard for companies like yours to just respect homeowners wishes when there is a clear sign asking to be left alone?

Home Genius was prompt, courteous and friendly. Mark was a pleasure to work with and his crew was on time and now my gutters are better than ever!

To be honest, there were some issues getting my windows replaced. However, I also comment and evaluate how the company reacts to fix those issues. Mark did a great job communicating what will be done and followed up with a resolution in a reasonable amount of time. To me, that speaks volumes, and my overall experience has been stress free. I would never recommend this company to anyone and I would honestly avoid this company. It started off with high pressure sale tactics which I was ok with because I just used it to negotiate the price down because it was ridiculous. They started on the roof quickly but luckily I was there to realize they had the wrong color materials. Besides that the roof job went smoothly. Next came the vinyl job and that was an absolute mess. They use a subcontractor to do the vinyl work. They started by setting up their scaffolding and nailed the anchors all over my new roof. I was very upset like any reasonable person would be and explained the roof is brand new and why would they do that. The owners explained that’s how it’s done which I said sure but now those portions of the roof now need to replaced. They told me they would take care of it as well as the home genius representative said it would be taken care of. I told them I didn’t want any scab patch’s but that’s exactly what they did they took some flashing with chalk and just put them under the shingles. Which I’m confident voids my roofs new 50 year warranty. You would think it would stop there but it didn’t I caught them trying to not tape the wrapping or put J channel in the gables and just thought I wouldn’t notice. They damaged a lot of shingles in the process of installing the vinyl they didn’t care. They also damaged my fence because they just lowered their scaffolding on it. Then we move to the last job which was the gutters. They installed the gutters and put one of the downspouts on the roof. I told them no run that to the other gutter so the runoff doesn’t ruin the shingles. They told me that is a special request normally which should be a standard for gutters. They told me to pay them and they would come back out and fix it. I told them I don’t feel comfortable paying until the job is done and they were like yea you right we will get right on it. I proceeded to not hear from them for two months so then I just fixed the issue. They finally reached back out November. I explained the situation to the new guy calling Aj told him of my terrible experience he said he would talk to the boss. After a few days of nothing back I texted him and just told him to get the money cause I was done dealing with this. He said he would be out and another month passes to no contact. I reach back out via text to try and pay them and he was like oh that was supposed to happen weeks ago. I didn’t hear back again until two days ago from Tom this time again asking about the money. I once again explained everything and told him to get the money. The other issues with this organization is their the project managers run like 10 jobs. Which they basically run materials from site to site so their is no supervision it’s just the workers. Which would be fine if they did the job right or could communicate with you they mostly all speak Spanish. They also left nails all over my yard I actually found one today after 7 months. I hope this review helps people.

I scheduled an appointment with Home Genius for an attic insulation quote, but the visit quickly turned into an aggressive sales pitch for a new roof. Despite my roof being replaced in 2022, the two salesmen insisted it needed to be redone and spent over an hour trying to pressure me into signing a contract on the spot. When I told them I needed time to think it over and discuss it with my wife, they became increasingly pushy and dismissive of my concerns.

Instead of respecting my decision, they escalated the situation by putting me on the phone with their boss, Rusty, who merely repeated their talking points and demonstrated a complete lack of interpersonal skills. One of the salesmen, Brent, became visibly frustrated when it was clear I wasn’t going to be pressured into an impulsive decision.

Skeptical of their claims, I sought second and third opinions from reputable roofing companies in the area—both of which confirmed that my roof was in fine condition. Home Genius relies on high-pressure sales tactics and becomes unprofessional when their tactics don’t work. I strongly recommend avoiding this company.

You get what you pay for. These guys showed up fully inspected the property, did the project in a timely manner. Kept the area clean. And resolved any issues that came up quickly. Warranty is a huge plus.

Mark and his crew were AMAZING. You never know what your gona get these days with quality and customer service but with Mark and his crew I felt like I was in good hands the whole time. My siding looks so good. Like a brand new house and they addressed any issues in a timely manner with the best customer service I've received from contractors. I was questionable about using them at first because they are only a few years in business but they got it figured out. Mark you deserve a raise keep up the good work!!!
