If I could go back in time, I would have never hired Southern Roofing Renovations. I’m sharing this not to vent, but to inform others of the long and frustrating experience we’ve endured, one that’s still not resolved after nearly three years.
We were initially approached by a man named Lex (who no longer works there). While we were skeptical at first, we gave him and the company a chance. Lex was helpful early on in dealing with insurance, and the crew completed our entire roof replacement in one day, but that’s where the problems began.
Here’s a breakdown of what went wrong:
• Shoddy workmanship: I personally caught the crew cutting corners, including covering up rotten deck boards instead of replacing them. They also damaged our gutters and fascia, and left behind several issues that should have never passed quality inspection.
• Lack of consistency: Since 2022, we’ve dealt with 5 or 6 different managers, all of whom left the company. Each time, I had to start over, resending pictures, text messages, and emails to explain the same problems repeatedly.
• Delays and excuses: Repairs took weeks to months, often blamed on weather. Meanwhile, we were left with unresolved damage and no clear timeline.
• Poor communication & professionalism: Our most recent interaction in Easter 2025 was the final straw. After a repeat issue in the same spot previously repaired in September, a team was sent unannounced on Easter Sunday. They damaged our deck boards, and when I reached out, a representative named Tony told me not to bother him because it was Easter and asked to be removed from the text thread. Completely unprofessional. Later, their quality manager Tate apologized, but said they’d no longer assist us unless we paid for further repairs, even though it was their responsibility.
On top of all this, it’s very clear that Southern Roofing Renovations only responds to positive reviews. They don’t engage with people who leave detailed, negative reviews or follow up to ask how they can improve. That alone should raise a red flag.
So this review isn’t about trying to get a response from them we know we won’t. It’s for you, the potential customer doing your research and trying to decide whether to go with this company. Read this and decide for yourself if this is the kind of experience you want to risk.
They may have good crews, but we clearly didn’t get one. This process has been filled with stress, repeated mistakes, poor management, and no accountability. If I could do it over again, I would have gone with someone else.
Got a new roof in 11/2022. Very nice to me until they get the contract signed. Went downhill from there. On day of roof replacement, they drove truck into the yard, even though I asked them not to. Left deep tire marks. We kept finding cigarette butts and nails in our yard even after clean up crew was there twice. We have two dogs and a kid playing in the yard.
About 5 weeks ago (March 2025), we noticed a dripping sound from the roof on our bedroom ceiling. Apparently, when it rains hard, water comes through the pipe boot they installed on the roof. Called company four days in a row, no one picked up, left messages, and finally got a call back. Then it took another two weeks until someone showed up. He put nails in the boot to attach the lower flap of the boot to the roof. Apparently 'this does not need to be done, but he would do it if it were him'. And he put some glue on the pipe boot around the pipe. Not sure what did the trick, but it is sealed now.
I do not know how long it has been dripping because you need to be in the bedroom, when it is quiet, and raining very hard to notice the dripping. I inquired about the water on our bedroom ceiling (the drywall is soft, so something is not right) and if they could look into that since there was a problem with the boot. First guy said his quality assurance guy would come by and look at it. Never happened. When I inquired what was going on, he said that this is not covered by workmanship warranty (2 years), because it has been past 2 years. But wanted to check if they can put a new boot on the roof. So, maybe it was not workmanship but the material, which has a much longer warranty. They stuck with the workmanship warranty. No help or further communication, just evading the issue when texting or calling. They left us hanging.
There is plenty of competition out there. I have found other companies in the region that offer longer workmanship warranties and care more about customers once they got their money. Go somewhere else where people care for you and actually stand behind their work and products. Should have done better research before signing the contract. That one is on me.
10/10 recommend Southern Roofing. Ask for Angel if you want top tier customer service! I can’t thank him enough for making the process so smooth while my husband was deployed. Our roof looks amazing!
