My roof was damaged by Hurricane Helene in 2024, and James was quick to come out and help inspect the roof to assess the damage. I sent an email upon discovering the damage, and James was on my roof within a two-hour timeframe from the moment I hit send on my computer.

The damage was extensive, and it was challenging for me to make sound decisions or physically get up on the roof to inspect or touch anything. I was also very distraught because the emotional impact of the roof damage was significant, and seeing it in such bad shape was difficult to bear. I woke up to find my roof in pieces! I tried to keep my composure, but it’s tough when the roof that protects your home is in poor condition. It’s an expensive element that safeguards your home, so you can’t afford to cut corners during the insurance negotiation or building process. This is why I called James; I needed someone I could trust.

James took over all the headaches—inspections, pictures, reports, and communication with the insurance company—and made everything right for me. I did very little, as his mindset is for the client to “do nothing and worry none” during this process. When James came to my home, he took pictures of the damage and spoke with me—not with a sales pitch, either—for over an hour about the process and how it works. He answered every question I had and assured me that the roof would be taken care of, so I had no need to worry. I trust James because he did exceptional work on another client's roof that I had seen built in the past, and his service to our military means a lot to me as a veteran.

James and his company, Southern Roofing and Renovations, turned the insurance company's request from “fix it with some Home Depot shingles, you'll be fine” to “we need to replace the roof.” The process of dealing with the insurance claim can be a headache, but James and his team took over all my stressors and issues with the insurance company to make it happen. Thanks to James’ attention to detail, my roof was repaired properly and quickly with little to no delay. If I ever have any questions about my roof, I can just call or send a message, and he will get back to me. When James and Paul came to monitor the roof repair, they both supervised the process to ensure my home was not damaged and that everything went smoothly. The build crew that came out was amazing! They did exceptional work and were very efficient. They had my old roof off in two hours and the new roof on by 3 PM, having started right at 7 AM. Within an eight-hour timeframe, my roof was replaced, which shocked me as my roof is not small by any means! I am very particular about my home, and when we did a final walkthrough after the roof was replaced, I couldn’t find many issues at all. The only thing I noticed was that my roof looked a bit wavy after the build was done, but with the Florida sun, the roof flattened out and cured into a work of art.

The crew chief for today’s job is Preston and he did an excellent job. I couldn’t ask for more. Preston did a great job keeping up with the insurance company too. I told him to take over with the negotiations and he did. He always knew what the latest information was. I would certainly have them do another roof.

Preston from Southern Roofing & Renovations was passing by our house in Neptune Beach, Florida, and talked to me for a while. During our conversation he noticed that one shingle was bubbled up a little out of alignment.
I meant to get it fixed for some time (a couple of years), but never really acted on it. Preston pulled the ladder out of his car, got up on the roof and glued the shingle down. After all that, he stated that the roof still has quite some time in it.
Preston acted very courteous and professional, and there is no question as to what roofer I will call to get it replaced.

Paul was extremely professional and courteous. He provided us a free roof inspection and only found minimal damage to the vent boots and repaired it for free! Definitely recommend using his company as he isn’t just a salesman!

PaulVallejo with Southern Roofing and Renovations gave me a free inspection of my roof after the storms we were having in our area. He was courteous and professional. He took photos of the problem areas and explained the deterioration and how a roof aged with the sun and heat in Florida. He answered my questions and I felt much more informed than before he came. As an added bonus he blew the leaves from the roof and gutters as a courtesy. I was very pleased with my experience.

I only have good things to say about Southern. We worked with Preston who answered every question and phone call in a timely fashion. The work itself was done well and quickly the workers were polite. Definitely a five star job!

Paul Vallejo did a roof inspection for us yesterday afternoon. He was meticulous and professional throughout the entire process. The man even blew the leaves out of my gutters! Talk about going the extra mile. He seems like a genuinely good guy all around.

I had a new roof put on 4 years ago by Reliant Roofing. Over the last two months, I placed almost daily calls with voicemails regarding a repair issue with no return calls. Overall a fantastic company, spoke with a young man named Preston who came by my house offering to inspect my roof. I have only heard negative things about roofing companies lately but my gut feeling decided to give him a chance as he seemed to be honest and respectful. He showed me pictures of my roof including a minorly damaged shingle, however told me the roof is okay in its current state and that I did not need a new roof yet. I am very glad that there are still a few roofing companies that teach their employees to have integrity rather than lying about a roofs condition for a check. I will definitely be recommending this company as well as using them in the future for any roof issues I have. A+ experience & would highly recommend to anybody with a roof issue!
