Best Choice Roofing and their employee Sheldon Stimeling I would recommend to anyone. They seem to really care about the customer.

Patrick is the one I worked with and since the beginning he has made an effort to answer my questions and concerns. He is very kind and professional.

Patrick did a great job for me he was a huge help with the insurance company, I couldn't ask for a better job . All looks great and so pretty too. He's your guy for a great new roof, I had given up hope till he came along. Thank you so much Patrick!

What do we need to do to make it very clear none of your representatives are to step onto (my) private property without permission! I asked the representative to leave and he was rude. This is not the first time this has happened. It’s harassment at this point. As others have pointed out “No” does not mean maybe or try again. Let’s not have another round.

Riley and Tyler’s Customer Service is SECOND TO NONE! They had all the information needed to deal with our insurance company. This made the process effortless.

Patrick and Aiden were phenomenal throughout the install process. Then again when a fallen tree resulted in some damage to the 6 month old new roof. A+ customer service that extends beyond the day of installation.

Horrible experience, their crews have harassed us for 6 weeks now. We were almost scammed in the Insurnace Claim process.

And they still come by our house and hide behind BRC. Just had a crew come by the house that I told about the scam while working w/ Best Choice Roofing and I didn't put it together, they kept saying BRC instead of the full name.

Run Away, any Roofing company calling door to door is not a great or even good company.

We asked the Company 3 weeks ago, to leave us alone. They said they would mark our house off their website. That sure didn't happen.

Jon Bostic with Best Choice Roofing was very easy to talk to and was very knowledgeable about roofing. He was very enthusiastic about helping me out in a timely manner.

I really want to give 5 stars but my experience with Best Choice Roofing in Roanoke, VA has been disappointing. First, it took almost 2 weeks for my insurance company to receive pictures of my roof. Then, I was told that the 3 tab shingles were going to be upgraded to architectural shingles for free but when the contract was presented there was a $250 charge.

My insurance company said I would be responsible for the decking but later agreed to pay. I relayed this information to BCR but they still demanded I pay & said I could submit the info to them. Their invoice was wrong by $150 & I asked for a correction & have been waiting almost 3 weeks.

My roof was completed 3 weeks ago, but there was damage to the soffit & both of my sidings with vents in the attic. After speaking with BCR, I was promised these issues would be fixed in 2 weeks & my final payment would be picked up. As mentioned earlier, this bill has not been adjusted & I am still awaiting repairs.

I also asked BCR for verification that my roof was up to code and was promised an email stating this would be sent almost 3 weeks ago. I still have not received this email.

I understand that the majority of BCR’s employees that I have been in contact with are new. I also appreciate their time, efforts and responses but my invoice needs to be adjusted and the work that they have promised to do needs to be completed.

Mr. Thomas from Richmond, VA called me approximately a week ago apologizing about the length of time it took to correct the invoice and corrected it. He said Roanoke’s manager would contact me the next day about repairing my soffit and siding with vents but still no contact. I still have no specific date. Hello? I feel like I keep knocking and no one is answering the door.

Update, BCR told me that someone was coming to repair the damages I complained of on a Thursday but there truck broke down on the way to my house. Then they said the repair would be done on the next Saturday but the gentleman who came said he was only looking at it to see what was needed. Now there is a hole in the soffit. The second picture shows what it looks like from the road. They have to do better for their customers.

Also, they have still not sent me an email stating my roof is up to code that they promised.

***Two gentlemen came yesterday, May 20, 2025 and fixed the hole in my soffit. Thank you! They repaired one of the sidings with the gable vents but the wood was not replaced. I contacted Mr. Sloan and he said it would not be and I told him he said he would replace all of it when we had spoken. I apologized that there seemed to be a misunderstanding.

The other gable vent with siding could not be repaired because they said there was no information about it. I had sent pictures within 10 days of the damage as required by BCR, so I sent Mr. Sloan pictures taken by Mr. Manning before starting work and the pictures taken by me after it was damaged by their roofers, who had worked extremely hard from 7 am to around 7 pm that day. I assume from my contact with him yesterday that he is inferring that the damage was already there and BCR will not fix it.

Also, I want to mention that when I first posted on Google about BCR, I received a phone call from one of their employees accusing me of causing him to lose $500 because of my review. I mentioned this to Mr. Thomas but do not think he should have lost $500 because of my review and Mr. Thomas said he would not. BCR sent me my Owen’s Corning Warranty that they say guarantees that my roof is up to code.

Would I recommend BCR to others? No. This has been an unbelievable journey.

Aiden Wright hooked us up! Our roof was in its last leg when he came by and gave us a free inspection. He filed a claim with our insurance company and the money we got from them went straight towards the already competitive quote we got from BCR. Within a few months, we had a brand new roof for a fraction of what it would’ve cost if Aiden hadn’t come by that day!

James Meadows at BCR has been truly a delight to work with! He made the process simple for me and my wife. As first time home owners, this was something we did not expect so early into moving into our home, but we are glad James and his team were able to work with us from the start. They cane to our house and said they could fix the leak around our chimney by replacing the flashing. After they finished the work our ceiling leaked 3 times worse. Eric called and said they would make it right. He brought a chimney guy with him and was told it was a chimney issue, we were assured they would take care of it. Later they refused to fix the problem as they said the chimney was not their fault. They had done the work they said they would do. I believe all the banging and chipping away at the bottom of the chimney made it worse. I would definitely not recommend them to fix my chicken ccop.

Jake Thomas came out to hour home to do an estimate. He was super friendly from the moment he got there. He went over every detail in full and was happy to answer all the extra questions we have. He even did some extra for us and put some little area of tarps on the roof. Super grateful they came out and look forward to how easy he is making this process. Bryant came to our home in Virginia the day after Hellene blew shingles off of our roof, blew down trees, and caused other damage to our property. He inspected the roof and set a return date for temporary repairs and tarp placement. He worked with us from the insurance adjustor visit through the entire process until his company, Best Choice Roofing, completed the roof replacement. Associate came out 11/4, inspected roof, advised that since roof was so old, he would put me in touch with someone who repaired older roofs. Evidently felt the company would not be willing to take on my roof. And since I'm on SS, I cant afford a $15,000 roof. Never heard anything. Called and texted office several times, nothing. These people don't follow up and evidently are not interested in helping anyone who cannot afford a high priced roof.

My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Patrick from Best Choice Roofing who was referred to us by our friend. He came by and gave us an inspection for free and filled out a roof health report for us. He also said that he would come back every six months and do free inspections. They worked tirelessly, for several months with my insurance company to ensure a new roof for my home was finally approved, keeping me updated through every step. The tremendous amount of time and effort they put into this was above and beyond, and more appreciated than I am sure they will ever know!

If there were negative stars to give, I would. They tied up an entire Saturday in August for an estimate. 4 months later and I can’t get so much as a return call to let me know if they can even take the job (of course, by now, I wouldn’t hire them, anyway). Might I recommend a tarp and a nail gun over this useless company.

Jesse helped me to navigate the process of replacing the roof on my house and garage. He was very down-to-earth and personable, while also being knowledgeable and pointing me in the right direction when we hit a few snags with my insurance company. Had our roof replaced about a year ago by best choice roofing. Jesse was great to work with, and made a major task simple, and got us a great price on the new shingles. Would recommend reaching out if you’re in need of a roof, ask for Jesse.

Wouldn't recommend to anyone. It's technically not a scam, but it's not a job for about 99% of people. The only pros are that you make your own schedule and that you can make a lot of money. HOWEVER, you're likely to not make that much. If you don't have money already in the bank, STAY AWAY. You will not make money for a few weeks or even months. They claim that employees sell 2-3 contracts a week but that's totally false.
Essentially your job is to drive around looking for houses with roof damage. You're mainly looking for roofs with missing shingles. You get about 7 hours of training from a Google slide over the course of two days including some motivational videos(which are always dumb and not helpful). After training, you likely will have to go out on your own and look for houses even though you have no idea what you're doing or where you should go. They don't tell you a good area to look. You will waste gas. A LOT OF IT. There isn't much training on the paperwork aspect of the job which is actually where the money is. There's a lot they won't tell you in the interview so read this if you would like to know.
Yes you make your own schedule, but they do have some stipulations they ask of pretty much everyone. Here's what their "training module" is below.

Weekly expectations
On Mondays, you're required to collect 125-150 addresses with damaged roofs. This means you're driving around for at least 6 hourson Monday alone . But don't knock on any of these doors, just put them in the app(they have a business one) or write them down.
Tuesday- Saturday, knock on 25 doors each day. These will be from your Monday addresses. Your goal is to set up an appointment(they call it a soft set) at a later date in the week(they prefer 2 days max).
Tuesday-Friday, set up 3 soft sets each day and knock on 25 doors.
SUPER SATURDAY, this day is basically required. On the mandatory Friday meeting, every employee has to commit to how many contingencies they will sign on Saturday. The branch has to meet the collective number as a group or there's a mandatory meeting Monday.
What they push more than anything is a contingency. Basically, this is a piece of paper that the h/o signs to give the employee permission to speak to the insurance. It really has no legal weight because the h/o can verbally tell their insurance you have their permission. The contingency plays a major role in the corporation. BCR requires you get this signed to do anything for their roof. The paper is filled with information that you have to learn on your own or ask because it's not a part of training, despite being their biggest priority. You're required to send a picture with proof it's signed to Groupme(company group chat). They have two group chats, one for lions(the main chat) and the frog chat(like probation). If you don't follow the weekly expectations or at least get close to it, you eventually will be placed in the frog chat. If you're not active in groupme, you'll be in the frog chat. If you miss a mandatory meeting- frog chat. There are requirements to meet to get back in the main chat or you'll be fired. You only have 7 days. One thing the branch is huge on is selfies. They love when you're taking selfies(esp door knock selfies). The culture is a huge frat house. It's a lot of unnecessary cussing and screaming because they love when people "bring their shout". They yell and motivate more than actually teach. They have 3 trainings/meetings a week. Most of this is noise and motivational videos. Every meeting will have at least 2 videos that just waste time. In my opinion, the group chat and meetings were the dumbest because they both were aggressively pushed and usually useless. If you're desperate looking for a job, fast food will be easier.
