Aubuchon Hardware - Barre, VT

What a great service. So easy to get what we needed in the middle of a job. Picked out the item on line, paid and my handy guy picked it up. Really glad this exists! Thanks so much!

Very comfortable location- good amount of parking, separate entrance and exit to leave the lot. Inside (very clean!) has wide path in and decent space in aisles which are efficiently organized.
I was greeted almost immediately by David W., and offered assistance in finding products. When I was done making my selection I went to wait in line, he came back through shortly thereafter and hopped right over to a counter to ring my sale and send me on my way.

Amazing store and amazing service. Chris was instrumental in our purchase of a Big Green Egg. His knowledge and friendly manner made the purchase a very pleasant one. He also delivered the egg, which was wonderful. Both Chris and his staff make this a first class store.

Normally very satisfied with the service and products, this time I ordered on-line and had my husband pick up… the product was not exactly what I ordered. Still usable but I can’t help but wonder if the product he brought home might have been a different price than what I actually paid for, despite the sku being precisely the same. Weird.

I could not find an item that was listed as in stock. The CSS told me that they were outside and I had to find them myself. I completed the purchase and was left to myself to find the items. After searching the store and parking lot twice I told the same CSS I still could not find them and was told I could purchase a different item.

Is it really that hard to just show a customer where an item is in your store? Terrible service.

Janet was so helpful and patient as she helped me figure out how to fit screens in the warped doors of my 120-year old house. 100% would recommend.

Like a small Home Depot, only much more expensive and without the lumber. I don't mind paying 10-15% more to keep my $ local, but... Yesterday, I went in to buy supplies needed to hang 20 feet of gutter, and my total was $140 plus tax! I was shocked but blamed it on inflation and moved ahead with the purchase. When I got home, I built the same list of materials online at HD and Lowe's, and my total was $80. That's a 75% premium at Aubuchons! I double and triple checked, but no mistake. Sorry, that's too much. With pricing like that, I will go only when I have no choice.

Admittedly I often try to avoid Aubuchons as their prices seem to be significantly higher than most competitors, even small local hardware stores (hence the 4/5 instead of 5*). I realize the employees have absolutely nothing to do with this, and I have to give a big shout out to Janet and the South Barre store for being enormously helpful with a variety of window screens that I have been bringing in in various states of disrepair. They (and especially Janet) are polite, helpful and their prices--at least for screen repair--seem significantly better than a variety of other stores and even online. Thanks y'all!

Very little wood options, no opportunity to cut wood at site and employees were rude and offstandish when asked for help or advice.
This is the opposite experience I have at my hometown store in Springfield, VT.
Whoever Gloria is, manager, owner etc. Needs to work on her customer service skills. NO need to be curt when I'm about to spend 300$ at your store and if I was closer to home I certainly would not have chosen this place. Very disappointed in the shopping and purchasing experience here.

Wow..I never get service like that anymore. A clean restroom is always appreciated and my items were carried to my car and everyone was nice. So rare. I would give them ten stars if I could. They did hit me up for a donation which I usually resent but the donation was for the local high school !!!!! and not some corporate charity that pays their executives millions. Thank you for showing me that decency and customer service and local charity still exist.

We usually have very good experiences at this store. Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful. There is, however, one manager that my husband and I have both found to be very condescending (on separate occasions that we've discussed later and found it to be the same man). We will continue to frequent this store and avoid the one bad egg.

Favorite go to store for what I need. I go here first to see if it’s available to purchase. There’s more here than most people think there is. Friendly environment and someone always there to help with questions I have, and alternate suggestions if need be.

Looking for something off-season. Called, and they looked around up front. Said it must be stored with the pools. They refused to go get.Even though the website said they had two. Had to drive 1.5 hours one way to Middlebury, who was more than happy to help and look. If you know what you want and can find yourself this store is ok. Help is like pulling teeth. Miss my store in Northfield they were very helpful.

The online inventory was wrong, staff called me and offered alternatives to be sure I had what I need to complete my project. When we arrived, the product was ready and staff loaded our truck in a way that we could easily unload and get back to work!

Great selection but you’ll pay the price. I’ve not received much in store help on products. Kinda have to know what you want and serve yourself.

Several minutes before closing on July 10, we had driven to this particular Aubuchon Hardware to grab sandbags before the flooding occurred on North Main St. We asked one of the staff members who was preparing to close that we needed several sandbags in order to keep the water from flowing into our restaurant front. We also informed the staff member that we had cash and did not need change back. However, the staff member refused to sell the sandbags to us. He proceeded to shut the door in our face and lock it. Since we relocated to Barre in 2018, we've gone above and beyond to support local businesses like us. We strongly believe that such businesses as well as New England-based franchises are what keep this small city alive. However, my family and I will NEVER support Aubuchon Hardware again. We encourage those who value kindness and compassion to do the same.

Needed some plexiglass cut and I was new to the store. I asked an employee for help and was promptly taken care of. The cutting of the glass was done perfectly!! I'll use this Aubuchon's in the future.

Yesterday I purchased an Ocean Breeze OBZ-O5CM Window Air Conditioner, Order #001458831,but when I picked it up and got it home and installed I realized that it was a Comfort-aire air conditioner, not an Ocean Breeze. Why? I specifically wanted the Ocean Breeze, because I already have one and it works very well. The Comfort-Aire seems to work well, but is not what I ordered.

I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the excellent service provided by one of your store employees. Yesterday, I visited your store to get my Koehler engine fixed, and the employee who assisted me did an outstanding job.

The employee, Ken Boutin, took the time to listen to my concerns and thoroughly inspect my engine. He quickly identified the issue with the carburetor and explained the necessary repairs in detail. The employee then expertly fixed the carburetor and had my engine running like new in no time.

I was thoroughly impressed with the employee's knowledge and expertise, as well as his friendly and helpful demeanor. He went above and beyond my expectations and provided exceptional customer service.

Great selection of tools and hard goods for the farm and home. New upgraded store is nice and tidy. Easy to find items within the store.

Several online orders have not been filled 100% even though the items are said to be on hand at the time order is placed. When order is filled the customer receives a text saying that one or more items are not available due to inventory issue but no info on what is not available, which is usually the reason the order was actually placed. Later an email will be sent out indicating which item(s) are not available. Better inventory control would save on a 20-mile trip.

Needed some penetrating oil at the last minute Sunday. Devon let me in at the stroke of five!!!! Thanks man. Much appreciated.

They have what I need when I need it. Everything from nuts n bolts ,garden needs, painting supplies to a cool air conditioner. Prices are reasonable. My neighborhood hardware dealer… thumbs up!

I ordered a cordless Black & Decker hedge trimmer from the website for store pickup. Within 15 minutes I received an email stating it was ready to pick up. I went to the store and made a quick trip in and out. ALL were wearing masks! The hedge trimmer is incredibly sharp, lightweight, and continued to amaze me through three rows of hedges. Battery life was even longer than I expected. My lawn looks awesome!
