On Side Restoration Services - Friday Harbor, WA

We used On Side Restoration as it was recommended by our insurance provider. We had 2 claims that occurred within weeks of each other. I don't think I can express how frustrating it was to deal with them - they were so unorganized and the communication was terrible. If I wasn't the one calling, emailing, asking questions things wouldn't have moved. The PM rarely answered the phone. The tradespeople that showed up did do a good job but they regularly didn't have the information they should have or materials they needed. Some trades would show up before work was done, then have to be sent away. The planning of ordering materials, installation etc - everything was reactive and only when I pushed. This was without question the worst service I've ever experienced.

Ray W. is top drawer. The man makes disasters seem like vacations in Maui. Problem solver and calm as a Hindu's cow. We need more Rays in the world.

Little to no attention to detail. Takes months to complete anything. Flaky. Promises to fix things they have damaged or left incomplete never come to fruition. Poor communication. Very poor work ethic and execution overall. They do not take any pride in their work and have been extremely unprofessional. I did not want to review until they were finished on my home, but it seems like nobody there keeps their word or has any intentions of completing the project they have been supposedly working on for months. More damaged left by them than there was to begin with.

The teams from On Side were very helpful during our 7 month restoration after the dishwasher broke and pumped water over and under the kitchen floor. Special mention goes to Andy, Tim, Michael, Jill and especially the women, Colleen and Angela, who recently cleaned our home. Gerry the project manager was very good at responding to calls and emails when necessary. Only a few times did workers appear at our door without warning. I would recommend this company when restoration is needed.

This is how project manager Todd Dayton managed my sewer flood of my apartment. He failed to do the most basic things, showing up with appropriate PPE and communicating important details. On our first scheduled meeting he forgot his mask and I had arranged to be late to work. Todd has sent emails to me by accident more than once intended for someone else. Todd has sent an email about me, stating untrue things intended for someone else to me.

Todd failed inform when my contents were being packed out of my place that a company spent a week cleaning due to asbestos. We had commuicated 3 times from the time the work out was placed Jan 17 until the day my contents were moved out Jan 25. (Another mistake from a different company/insurance not getting contents out.) Sewer contaminated contents were mixed in with non contaminated contents - as a result I am being put in a position to make choice from my insurance company to loose everything I own including photo albums and be paid on the maximum amount of my policy - that my contents exceeds that amount. You can't put a price on memories.

I had a flood in my entranceway which necessitated new drywall, flooring and carpet. I am so happy with the results! Everything was done really well and the tradespeople were all professional, polite and extremely helpful! I give them 10/10 and 5 gold stars! Well done Onside crew! Thank you! Marie

When you have a disaster, this is the company you want. Throughout the 2 months, ordeal lines of communication kept me up to date. Highly recommended!

In June of this year I accidentally destroyed my vynal deck using 30 second cleaner, I contacted my insurance company and they said I was covered and assigned,,Onside restoration Victoria to do the job .I was apprehensive as I had a real bad experience with a similar company in 2008 in Courtenay with a big player who's name starts with a" B" .
Onside was very excellent from the moment of contact, Gerry Bernard the project manager attended and informed me of how the repair process would be done ,no corners were cut and the repair proceded as promised. Great skilled employees and a great choice of sub trades.
I never had to call them as their communication was excellent, on time and their work was top notch.
If you are ever in need of a restoration company in Victoria make sure you use these guys as they are focused on
quality and customer service .

Absolute worst customer service and quality of trades. Our project manager was for lack of better word, useless. He lied multiple times. He didn’t double check the sub-trades work and ended up re flooding our basement because of his lack of care and effort. We had to fight tooth and nail after the second flood that was clearly onside’s fault to have any accountability or compensation. Highly recommend avoiding using this company. Especially if you get Matt Stachiw as your project manager.

Very very happy with the total service and with the people. In this time when trust and commitment can be difficult On Side was a real pleasure to be with. Sincerity in customer service rings loud and clear with the Victoria crew. Thank you all.

On Side did a great job restoring our house after a burst pipe. They provided an accurate estimate on how long it would take and all the contractors did good jobs painting, drywalling, flooring and plumbing.

The repairs for the insurance claim we made on April 7th are still unfinished as of September 12th. We have been very patient but it seems that no one knows what they are doing. I would have completed the repairs months ago (and for less than the deductible) and I am considering just finishing it myself. Not sure they deserve even 1 star.

Folowing serious water damage to our condo we couldn't be more pleased with the restoration services provided by On Side during what was, for us, a very traumatic period. Gerry Bernard of On Side came through for us with his excellent organizational and communication skills and, while the industry has been struggling to deal with customer's problems during this time of Covid and weather extremes, his prompt responses to our emails and phone calls meant more to us than anyone could imagine. We were also very impressed with all aspects of the actual restoration work. Everett and the contents/demolition crew had to shuffle furniture and remove all of our hardwood prior to installation of new flooring. Following the installation of the hardwood by the flooring company, On Side carpenters Ian and Tom, were extremely careful and professional in their task of repairing baseboards and toe strips. Finally, Everett returned with the contents crew to put all the furniture back in place and, now that they're done, our place looks like new!

use anyone but on side, hire these clowns and you will regret it. project manger is incompetent, workers are sloppy, work is shoddy. edit: now they want me to waste even more of my time sending emails. here's a tip on-side: how about having project managers (gerry) not hang up on irate residents when the gantt chart he produced isn't worth the paper its printed on.

We hired On Side for flood repairs in our condo. The work started out OK but after the repairs got going there was constant stalling and absolutely no communication from dispatch or the project manager. We were told over and over there would be a schedule for repairs provided to us but would go a week without hearing anything from anyone. After having an unfinished massive hole in our wall for almost 3 weeks without a confirmed date to repair it we decided to hire another contractor to finish off the rest of the work.

On Side Restorations were at our house the same day we called the insurance adjuster. Their people are great and their work is top-notch. This is the third time we have used On Side...they are always our go to restoration company.

We Had a floor Reno done it was done in a speedy time since it was a little job I could’ve done on my own with similar results

The lady working the claim was pretty rude and grumpy came to our house from Vancouver

They damaged the bottom of cupboards pulling out old laminate chipping it the bottom of counter and fixed it by using a black jiffy to blend in better which sticks out like sore thumb

They came in slapped it in prob in couple hours to make biggest profits
Wouldn’t recommend better off doing it yourself

Having never had an insurance or restoration claim before, we were extremely satisfied with On Side Restoration Services. All the employees we worked with knew what they were talking about and did their job efficiently and effectively. We were very pleased with all the repairs and restoration. Highly recommend On Side to anyone needing restoration work done.

Our home flooded and Todd and his great team dried up and restored the house in a timely manner and got us back in much sooner than we could have ever hoped to do on our own.

Contractors are scares due to Covid and materials are taking months vs weeks due to inventory shortages but restoration was all done and complete in 10 weeks which was less than I had anticipated.

I was very satisfied with the OnSide's prompt response to my flood from the inception. Their staff and sub-contractors did excellent work. There was some room for improvement re communication when there were lulls in the project. Overall, the project was completed and the quality of work was excellent and all the staff I interacted with onsite was very pleasant. Overall, a positive experience!

Very professional and polite team of men, women and tradesmen who did an excellent job on my flooded basement suite. They set up a schedule arrived on time and advised of any changes and kept me informed on the work. I appreciate everything they did would not hesitate recommend them.

Gerry and the team at On Side guided us through what otherwise would have been a terribly disruptive kitchen repair. The entire team was professional, more than competent and above all showed empathy through the process. We highly recommend On Side Restoration for any renewal or repair project.

Nick managed my claim from start to finish - he was very quick to communicate, as were the office staff in setting up scheduled times for the trades. All the trades were friendly and efficient, and did a great job. The couple of deficiencies (including one I caught AFTER I had signed off on the claim) were addressed quickly and to my satisfaction. I would recommend On Side.

Ray is terrible at coordinating jobs. I have had multiple trades guys show up without notice. When I mention that Ray was supposed to give me notice, they acknowledge that "that's not surprising at all" or ""yeah that sounds like Ray".

Why have someone so disorganized in charge of organizing?

They ended up being fired mid-claim for attempting to remove mouldy materials, without following safe abatement procedures. I caught two workers with a manager(Ray) present, about to remove mouldy carpeting without setting up containment for the spores they were about to disturb. On top of not caring about my family's safety, there was little regard for their own safety. The two workers and the manager were only wearing cheap paper masks, not proper respirators .

Had a flood. Started out well. The project manager came out quickly and did an assessment. They came in and removed flooring and lower walls within a few days (although there was additional damage done in the process). Then it went downhill from there. Not responsive at all (awful!), and they refused to work with the flooring company that I wanted to use even though the flooring company was ICC approved. The insurance company was fine with me using the flooring company that I wanted, but On Side wanted me to use a specific company. My only option would have been to take a pay-out on the value of the flooring for a much lower amount and then try to co-ordinate between the two companies myself.

I ended up severing the relationship and going to Downs Construction. Downs did a great job and happily worked with my chosen flooring company. Their communication was awesome.

Have worked with On Side very frequently over the past couple years and they always follow through with professionalism, great group of Project Managers and some lovely ladies who work in the office!

Throughout my unfortunate involvement with this company I have been continuously mislead and misinformed - as have their on-site people. This has been the single worst experience I've had with any company. Such an intense level of disorganization and failure to communicate - it's a wonder this place stays in business.

A car damaged a hydro pole which pulled our hydro mast which caused the drywall indoors to bulge into the living room. On Side Restoration with Alan Reyno's organizing skills were key in organizing the repairs. At least six different trades were involved and each was excellent. It was a pleasure seeing their skills reassemble the room. Alan answered all oour questions promptly, people showed up on time, did their jobs perfectly and were very conscientious. This is the second time we have had to use On Side and I would totally recommend and use them in the future if sadly something went wrong.

This has been one of the worst company I had to deal with. Incompetent, unfriendly, untrustworthy and unorganized. Tradesmen would show up without notice. Had to do some of the job a couple of times as they tried to rush into it. Subpar work. Unavailable and rude management, very difficult to deal with. Lack of communication and time management. Do not use them if you can. Other people in our building affected by the claim felt the same.

On Side Restoration took over a job that was started and totally mismanaged by Downs Construction. A much better option for your insurance claim if you value your sanity.

Of course insurance jobs are a bit of a racket ($1,100 for 17sf of linoleum?), but if you need a restoration company, I suggest Onside over Downs at least.

Taking 6 months to do a insurance claim at the apartment. Don't use this company if you can. All the contractors they use come for a few hrs never putting in a whole day. Hopefully they will get the job finished soon. I've seen a whole house go up faster then these guys can get two kitchens fixed.

The On Side team, has done an outstanding job for us. Alan was here shortly after our LR, DR, Kitchen and hall floors were flooded, and communication with each of the service providers, kept us updated from start to finish. We are so pleased with the new floors, and with the expertise of everyone that made it happen. Thank you.

We could not be more pleased with the fast, efficient and caring service provided by Kyla and her associates. She managed not only our emergency but our emotional and financial concerns as well. I sincerely hope we never have another emergency but, if we do, I certainly know who to call - and who to recommend to any friends who need help.

Throughout the renovation process I knew I was in good hands with On Side Restoration. The workmanship, friendliness and cleanliness of the workers was superb.

Worst experienced ever ,all the excuses for not being on site or getting work done , famous quote "your expectations are to high" this means we
are not capable of doing work to the quality that was there. The work is
now having to completely redone by a qualified trade construction company.

Alan Reyno and his team were amazing. Our basement was flooded and the prospects of dealing with it all were not something we were looking forward to, whether by ourselves or with a contractor. Alan had a great team that worked quickly and professionally together. The project got done on time and with minimal fuss. We have had bad and so-so experiences before. Alan completely turned our opinion around. I would use him again in an instant.

Alan Reyno was super easy to work with, extremely accommodating and diligent...I was under a very tight time line and he got the job done. I am very grateful...this is the second time I have used On-Side and I have been very pleased on both occasions.

Al Renyno and his team were absolutely amazing. Al came to our home in Nanaimo the very next day after contacting our insurance company.. He took the reins and had everything organized from start to finish with the most efficiency I have ever seen.. This was no small job.. His team were professional and polite every step of the way and did a fantastic job...

We had a major flooded basement, with an insurance carrier that was causing me grief. Alan and his team took the bull by the horns and handled the whole renovation, glitches and all. He relieved me of the stress during the long process and made things easier. Best experience with a Restoration Company we have ever had. This company has some good tradesmen, but poor communication and the case manager assigned to handle my job has been terrible. The job has been dragging on and I can't get answers half the time. I asked to upgrade counters that needed to be replaced and it became a ridiculous mess, with no discussion about what I wanted until weeks went by. This has caused delays and a lot of aggravation. I wouldn't recommend this company if you want a stress free experience or any kind of customer service.

Best company I have come across...professional, knowledgeable, quick, efficient and they include you in every decision made. I highly recommend them.
