In the October, 2024 atmospheric river, our condo building basement was flooded (storm sewer backed up and fully flooded, lockers, party room, kitchen, bathroom, parkade). Our property manager called Onside Restoration as he had had good experiences with the company in previous emergencies.
MELVYN Valenzuela was our Onside Project Manager. He became our hero from Day 1. Melvyn’s calm, composed demeaner and his management and leadership were exceptional. His various crews and sub-trades did a great job with both the initial clean-up and the restoration of our building. Melvyn kept us comfortably informed over the six-month period. We would happily recommend Onside for building emergencies.

I am very impressed with Onside, Wade and his Team. The customer service is definitely top notch! They answered all my questions clearly and in an efficient manner as I navigate through this stressful time to have my floors repaired. The work is also excellent. Highly recommended!

Wade is helpful, professional, and communicative. He was there and helped with the most difficult situations, all whilst taking over a huge multi unit flood from the previous contractor, who had failed.

Restorations are extremely difficult. I won the jackpot with Wade and his Dream Team that helped to restore my home, now it's better than ever.

I highly recommend On Side Restoration following my experience with them after a recent leak in my condo unit. The entire process was very smooth, and they were proactive in letting me know the necessary steps in order to repair the damages done, as well as the renovations that followed. It was a huge plus that they worked closely with my insurance company, the flooring company, and the moving company that were all required throughout this entire process. Coming home today to my unit, aside from the new floor and it being a lot cleaner, my home looked exactly as I left it.

In particular, Wade, who was the project manager for my restoration was great. He was kind and very responsive to any inquires I had throughout the entire thing, so I wanted to give a shoutout to him and all the other people who helped get my unit back to the way it was. They were contracted to do some renovations at my building, and it turns out that they sub-contract their jobs. They took forever to do the renovations and did a shoddy job. For example, the baseboards had to be removed for a section of a common hallway. When they put it pack up, it was all patchy and you could totally tell which section they removed and put back up. Shoddy job done, do not recommend.

Very Disorganized since the flood. Doesn't do any follow up whatsoever throughout the process. Expect yourself to constantly chase the company.

I highly recommend to document everything with photo, video including the video with any walk through with staff.

Assess anything left behind such as your cabinets and appliances and try to get a third company to assess any damage and to wrap and protect better yet to place in storage to prevent damage.

Expect a ton of your own time and unnecessary stress dealing with this company. I would highly recommend getting a trusted local contractor to restore.

Some units in my building were damaged about 2 months ago due to a water leak and On Side Restoration was assisted to repair the damages. They first came with a dehumidifier and a fan to dry the wall and mentioned that the damaged drywall would need to be replaced. They said they would call me to schedule for the drywall replacement. Two months later and still nothing. The strata agent has followed up with the 3 days, but no response.

We had a small leak in our roof. On side was called by our insurance company. They came in and placed some humidifiers into our house. After our claim was refused by Intact Insurance, On side sent me an invoice for over $2,000. I never asked On side to come in. Now they insist we pay their invoice and have threatened legal actions. All customers should not allow them into your homes without making sure who is paying for them.

My apartment flooded and onside was unfortunately assigned to “restore” my apartment. Not only did they destroy my apartment and make it worse, they are dragging their feet when asked to fix everything they ruined. Put in brand new floors and then ruined them. Put holes in the walls ripping off the baseboards and didn’t even fill the hole. Worst communication from grown adults it’s extremely unprofessional and truly embarrassing. The most difficult company to deal with. RUN AWAY from this company and if the insurance company assigns them to “restore” your place, find someone else immediately. If I could give zero stars and the last 3 months of my life back I would.

Update: another month has gone by and things just keep getting worse! They broke my closet doors completely which took 3 weeks for the replacement to arrive. To no surprise the closet doors don’t fit, they measured them wrong. They told me they “cracked the glass” but told my building manager they weren’t wide enough…here’s to another month NOT living in my apartment. To be reminded, they’ve been replacing the floors in a 1200 square foot apartment for the past 4 months

" This is my 3rd flood-related move-out in 22 years & I've had 3 different restoration companies for each move-out. Although the others were very good, Onside was EXCEPTIONAL! From initial introduction through to completion, communication between Jay & Viken were excellent - friendly, quick response time & patient with questions. Almost all of our house was damaged in the fire. It took a lot of time to do the restoration during the Covid-19 period, but it was a perfect restoration in every way. In particular, I am very satisfied with the recommendation of an on demand hot water system for heating. One unfortunate thing is that there is noise due to friction with the fixed part when the heating pipe contracts or expands. This is something to be aware of when installing plumbing. During the entire project, project managers Guy Bruyere and Steve Henderson were very kind and professional. I am very happy that this company was chosen

Drew Hogarth was the project manager on two flood claims I had into my apt and was always very professional and respectful to me. He answered my emails and phone calls promptly. I felt fully supported by Drew and his team especially by Vik who was exceptional in his job. He was very caring and made sure I was aware of any delays or disruptions and quickly corrected any deficiencies found. He is a great asset to your company and should be commended on his performance. I will not hesitate to recommend On Side Restoration for any restoration work in our strata building or to any of my friends and family who are in need of restoration services.

There was a heat pump malfunction in our building causing a flood that affected a number of levels, including our own unit. Most of those affected have been living in temporary accommodations since November 2022. It is currently May 2023.

On Side was hired by our strata for the restoration work. At the outset, we were impressed with the level of organization prepping the building for repairs and posting the scope of work on the doors of each affected unit.

Unfortunately, it has been an extremely frustrating and exasperating process since, dealing with the assigned PM. It has been incredibly difficult getting a hold of him for updates on the repairs, as it has made coordination with moving from temporary accommodation to temporary accommodation a very rushed and more involved process than it could be. Each time, we've had to coordinate accommodation bookings, coordinate with our personal insurance company, reschedule elevator bookings, take time off work, re-pack, and reschedule our contents for move-in, but with no knowledge of schedule, leaving us in a lurch as to where we can even live.

On top of that, when we had questions about potential deficiencies regarding the work of one of the sub-trades, we were told to reach out to them ourselves. Wouldn't the responsibility of the PM be to coordinate the work? He has never apologized for the issues brought up in this review.

UPDATE: Thank you On Side for immediately addressing the above concerns and taking them very seriously. Had we not done our own checks, we're not sure all of the deficiencies would have been addressed; however, we also recognize that we may have spoken too soon on some items and apologize if that is the case. We're pleasantly surprised with how good our unit looks now. Also, thank you for spotting the ceiling cracks which were not there before.

Restoration companies such as yours do incredibly important work, especially as a result of highly stressful and unexpected situations resulting from, in our case, building deficiencies. I think it's so important to keep that in mind for jobs such as these.

My mother's apartment suffered extensive smoke damage from an improperly cleaned chimney through her fireplace. She is an elderly lady in poor health who was overwhelmed with the situation. On Side Restoration was very responsive, professional and patient in dealing with her. They gave us a schedule of what would be happening and they worked to that schedule answering questions along the way. The cleaning and painting done was quality work and with the exception of one item that was broken, everything was carefully returned and positioned back in the apartment as it had been.

I would not hesitate in recommending this company to anyone requiring restoration services.

They came in and made more damage than flooding and wanted to up sell whole kitchen and dragged my claim for months. There are much better companies than them avoid at any cost. I guess they have a lot of work or they have poor management.Really painful experience, all repairs are done for then times cheaper within two days. I would never let them come near any of my properties.

I have been in the house renting business since 1974. With my husband's help, I have frontlined all of the tradespeople during that time.
So, we have a broad base of experience and we need you to know that working with Wade, on back-to back projects, was a pleasure.
He was interested in our projects and in seeing that we were taken care of.. He kept us informed of what was needed and how the work would progress.
He was available for updates, initiated info calls and was responsive to our enquiries.He is customer oriented and his approach, with his ready smile, made us feel that we were in good hands.
It was such a comfortable relationship that it seemed like he was family.

Our home was recently flooded and three floors required complete renovation. Our experience with On Side couldn't have been better. Brock and Wade, the leads on our portfolio, were responsive and thoughtful. The care, labeling and restoration that went into all the furniture and possessions was amazing: our couches look better now than they did before. We were impressed with the quality and professionalism of all trades (flooring, painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, cleaning and move-in). I would highly recommend this company.

Where should I start with this horrible company!

I live in a condo and my unit was flooded few months ago. On Side was called to the scene by the strata to dry the floors and walls. They brought in their equipment and told the fans and dehumidifier need to run for about 24 hrs. After two days, I sent an email to Onside project manager, Joe Connors, asking him to send someone to collect the equipment. He didnt respond! I got tired and call him, it went on voice mail, left him a voice maessage, but again no response after one day!! After a week, he siad he is going to send someone to collect the fans, but again no one showed up the next day!!!

After NINE (9) days, finally somone came to pick up the equipment.

Now, they send the bill to the unit owner and they have charged him for FOUR (4) days.

The charged $40 per day for the fans!!! The new fan is just under $300!!!

They charged $1000 for debries removal!!!

Total rip off. DONT aaproach this company!!
They are not going to be there when you need them the most, they will show up just to exploit the situation.

We were flooded in last November's "rain river". On Side provided excellent service and quality of work. Highly, highly recommended.

Our rental unit had a flood from the upstairs unit leaky toilet and our insurance adjuster set us up with Brock from On Side Restoration to come to assess the damage. For 4 weeks there was no response from him , after phone calls, emails and I finally got a reply to set up an assessment with him. On the day of the assessment, he didn’t show up and couldn’t be reached on all 3 phone lines. This is really frustrating as we had to travel 45 minutes to get to downtown and wait for 45 minutes to know it will be rescheduled from his supervisor because nobody can be reached. This is extremely unprofessional and a big waste of my time.

Like many other folks in British Columbia, this week - heavy rainfall caused our drainage pipes to back up and massive amounts of water got into our basement suite. To make matters worse, by partner is 9 months pregnant and due any day.

Our insurance company set us up with the On Side Restoration team and they have been a dream to work with through these stressful times.

Everyone I have dealt with has been communicative, responsive, patient with my many questions, and (what I've appreciated the most) empathetic of my situation. All the while, they have been managing 100s of similar claims.

James R., our project manager, has been so helpful and communicative, and pushed to make sure our issue gets dealt with in a timely manner - knowing that the water damage could impact the health of my partner and our unborn child. He's even been so thoughtful to ask about her well-being every single time we've spoken.

The rest of the crew that I've dealt with - Laura, Darren, and Kelly have all demonstrated the same level of professionalism, kindness, patience, and empathy along the way.

While I hope you're never in a situation where you have to deal with a restoration company, I can say with unequivocal confidence that you'll be in the best hands with these incredible folks.

Winson was a super professional Project Manager, super appreciate his quick responses and accompanying what our space needed to recover from the water damages, highly recommend. His team was great too.

It is not easy to organize projects like a restoration in someone's home. I highly recommend On Side Restoration, as they did an excellent job. Organizing subcontractors which is very hard to do these days during COVID. From the beginning, the manager Matt explained to me how the whole process will be progressing and he presented to me the work schedule. Project manager, Wade was coming regularly to our home to check on the progress. He was a nice guy who kept his word and delivered what he promised. Thanks for a good job!

Throughout the past two months after a water damage happened in my house, I have experienced and witnessed the excellent and professional restoration services and performances provided by the Project Manager and all the service crews of On Side as well as all the trades and sub trades. Their dedicated efficiency and quality workmanship are very much appreciated and will highly recommend On Side to my friends and others.

Water leak and resulting damage to my dining room ceiling was very unpleasant and stressful. On Side was very professional and respectful which made our entire experience stress free. I would not hesitate to recommend On Side.

Watching water pool on the hardwood floor from a leak above in the middle of the night is never a fun experience, and neither is scrolling through restoration company websites to find a reputable company to help get the problem solved. Fortunately for me, OnSide restoration, with Drew at the helm and Viken coordinating the crew of emergency repair guys and then the restoration team, were FANTASTIC from start to finish. All the team members, from the first guys at the site, to the drywallers and finish carpenters were polite, experienced, and professional. Drew was also very accommodating with our schedule and Viken supervised his team at the site and communicated with me along with Drew every step of the way. We have an old, heritage home so I was very particular about details, and was not willing to settle for ‘good enough’ repairs. Drew and Viken never suggested we use lesser materials than we originally had (fir, hemlock etc) and the drywallers went over and above to make original, imperfect ceiling, as smooth and even as possible and ready to accept the wallpaper that was originally installed over the drywall. A flood or other home ‘disaster’ is always stressful, but working with Drew and Viken and their team, made the experience, if not pleasant, at least much less painful. I HIGHLY recommend Drew, Viken and the OnSide team.

Expensive, but they do everything right. We had them come in after a fire caused over $300k in damages to our home. I would totally recommend them to anyone who values quality.

On Side Restoration completed the repairs for our condo unit which had undergone major water damage from a neighboring unit. The team was informative on the extent of the damage and the necessary repairs. They provided us with photos and documentation. Communication was good and the overall experience was positive.

I have had the misfortune of three water-damage incidents (two accidents from 'outside', one family-oops) and our insurer referred us to On Side on the first one. For the next two we went to On Side right away, because our experiences have been very positive. On our most recent emergency restoration (leak from the strata floor above), our project manager James Rosencrans and our Site Superintendent Vik Mardikian were a great team and carried us though the process which involved other parties and insurers. Their work was responsive, professional, kind and all completed with beautiful conscientious workmanship.

Vik Mardikian was on-site regularly, introducing a sub-trade or two, sorting out any small glitch, orienting On Side staff to his expectations, and keeping an eye always on quality outcomes. He also stepped in himself at whatever task needed his hand; he has loads of personal experience and many skills.

I recommend On Site and their great teams whole-heartedly.

I was very impressed by the quick response to our water leak. They had people there within a couple of hours of the leak with dehumidifiers and fans to dry everything out. The work was also done efficiently and when they said it would be done. I would recommend them to anyone needing restoration work done.

We had a flood in our condo and On Side Restoration did a great job helping us make the condo livable again. One stop shop that moved, repaired and cleaned our place. We were most impressed with the care and time taken to pack up our belongings (ie. books neatly packed into boxes, various items packed carefully, good records taken to put things back, etc.). I was devastated when the my water-main burst and flooded my basement. When the Intact Insurance agent recommended Onside to do my remediation, I was a little skeptical; I thought they were just trying to cut cost. But I was so WRONG!!! Onside Restoration is SIMPLY THE BEST!!! Matt, the project manager, was friendly, professional and super organized. Wade, the field supervisor, was meticulous, hard-working and had a great sense of humor. The trades and sub-trades were respectful and efficient and their workmanship was impeccable.

My basement flooding was a disaster, but Onside worked its magic and turned it into a blessing.

On Side Restoration is an well established firm and procedure was quite systematic. Excellent project manager and he always on top of remediation. On Side always provide advance notice of each appointment and will call prior to contractor arrival. Good drywall and flooring contractors. Cabinet and plumbing contractor workmanship were below average. Remediation took longer than initial scheduled due to errors from cabinet and plumbing crews. Overall restoration rating worth 4 stars.

From the moment I called and spoke to James Rosencrans, Project Manager at On Side Restoration, I felt that I was dealing with a professional company. He came to inspect the scope of the work at the rental property (bathroom). He lined up all the trades and the demolition and rebuild proceeded quickly and in a timely manner by professionals who know their trade.

This is second time water damage repair through insurance.

On Side was a real blessing to our business, Rosemary Rocksalt when we had issues with a leak in our sub-floor. They understood our need to keep the business running and did their best to accommodate during the process. The communication over the whole process was a big relief and the pricing was unbelievable fair for the quality of work that was provided. This is a well run business. All work was ontime and professionally completed. The staff take pride in their work and it shows. I would highly recommend this company if you are in need of restoration work.

on side restoration trades basically can provide satisfactory service.
Nirmal from on side can be reached most of the time and is communicative .The trade to do the fence of our damaged areas, CJ is very excellent in his performance, the trade on HVac cleaning is also ok. But the cleaning and power washing service providers not that professional, even not quite know how to use our machine. And the cleaner came to our site first time is not polite at all and just left without solving our problem. The traders for paint for insultation and fill up the water leakage crack, be complained about their tidy up work each time after they left the site.Overall, their job was at satisfactory level.

1) they restored my cabinet door upside down and didn't bother to fix it. They just left them as it and told me they are done! Who wants lay on the floor to reach the door handles? 2) They broke their promise and didn't dispose my furniture for me 3) after replaced my hardwood floor, they moved my washing and dryer machines back to the closet but they didn't plug in the power for me! How's am I suppose to move those machine by myself? 4) they broke my plug on the wall while moving things around and of course didn't notify me 5) they sent a worker who tested covid positive to work in my home. After that, only sent a couple cleaning guys to briefly wiped my home and refused to compensate for my living out cost, so I had to take the risk and go home. They told me that they are professional restoration? how so?? everything was restored wrong! Was my home a learning center for their trainees? as far as I know, it was not a free trial job too. Time for me to go hand wash my clothing... because of their professional mess. No, I would not recommend @OnSideRestore to any of my friends, family and anyone.
