Had a great experience with Steve Johnson and his teams services to install a new roof. Communication was great with Steve and his team was efficient and cleaned the surrounding area well. I partially appreciated making sure the neighbors drive way and decks were clean of shingles and nails. I would highly recommend Johnson Roofing.

Steve and his team are awesome. When I hire a contractor, I want to them to honest, a good communicator and to provide high quality work. This is exactly what I got. They took my bad situation, 37 year old neglected roof with inadequate gutters, and put me back in business. Can’t recommend them enough.

My sister hired them 15 years ago to replace the entire roof. Didn't install drip edges! 25 years shingles, 10 year workmanship warranty. Complained right away...Scott came out and told me everything was perfect. But the wood was sagging & should have been replaced. 15 years later roof is rotting. Beware! Terrible customer service & workmanship! Should have lasted much longer!

I was referred to Johnson Roofing by a family friend for some minor repairs after buying a house but we had difficulties from the beginning.

Very poor customer service, unresponsive to phone calls and emails.

Poor quality of work. We shared a copy of a certified house inspection report to complete necessary roof repairs and asked if their estimate covered the items from the report. They assured us it did; however, have completion of the work, a few items from the report were not addressed.

We immediately shared out concerns with Johnson Roofing and received no response to our calls or emails.

If you want a job done quickly and with good customer service, please look elsewhere.

I plan to tell the family friend (realtor) that recommended Johnson Roofing to stop referring this company to all future clients.

After being a customer for 30 years, it is sad that we now have to terminate our patronage of Johnson Roofing. Inability to coordinate repairs and the complete lack of customer service has finally exceeded our customer loyalty.
Some of the issues we have experienced:
3 years ago we had facial boards replaced on the carport. During this job, the worker noticed additional wood damage but forgot to pass that information on. Even though the job requested inspection and repair of any damage discovered. We discovered the damaged wood a couple months later and had to have them return to repair the damage. (With the additional cost of removing and reinstalling the facial board)
Last year we attempted to use Johnson Roofing to repair some damage caused by squirrels. The work needed to be coordinated with the pest exterminator. Unfortunately, Johnson Roofing's complete inability to coordinate anything forced us to use another contractor.
Last month we found a loose shingle and, after a heavy rain, that the gutters needed cleaning. We scheduled a date and time to have someone come out but the day before that date we were told they needed to cancel. Earlier this week we called and rescheduled to have Johnson Roofing fix the loose shingle and clean the gutters, only to receive a billing invoice 2 day later indicating someone had been out the week before and reattached the shingle but because the loose shingle was on the front of the house and the clogged gutters are on the back and on the carport the person either failed to properly inspect the gutters or decided since the water faucets were turned off (the reason we needed to coordinate a time) he didn't want to do the job.
Yesterday I called Johnson Roofing to try to resolve this issue and was told "Steve will call you back". When I failed to receive a call back, I called today and left a message asking to be contacted and expressed my frustration.
The call back I received from Steve basically said piss-off!
30 years of customer loyalty obviously means nothing.

The most unprofessional experience I have ever had with a contractor. Contacted them months ago for a simple roof repair. It was pulling teeth every step of the way to get a quote, invoice, and then after being promised someone would be out to fix it within a week, I heard nothing for over a month. I had to beg to get a call back, and was told on multiple occasions that someone would be by that week to fix it. Finally, the owner called and said they were behind because of winter and my part was special order, but I would get a discount. Do you think I ever heard back? NO. I told them I had to list my property and it was urgent. ZERO CARE given. I finally got a friend to help me, who charged me ONE FOURTH of the initial estimate, and was able to fix it within 3 days of coming by, and guess what - it wasn't special order. I have no words. This was an awful, pointless experience from beginning to end. Stay away if you ever want someone to fix your roof, or give you a fair price.

Johnson roofing installed a brand new roof on our townhouse and installed new soffett and wrapped the trim boards in aluminum in the rear of our home. The roof replacement was through our insurance and Steve worked with our insurance to make sure they understood what needed to be done to meet local code and get us taken care of properly. His prices are very good compared to some of the larger companies in the area and if you need to call him you reach him directly and not someone working in an office. The quality of the work is top notch. I highly recommend Johnson Roofing.

Not only did they do mine, but several in our townhome row. Excellent in every aspect, and since we did some right next door, we got a great price. Wouldn't let anyone else touch my roof. Great!!!

We had a leak coming from somewhere on our roof and I had several other roofing companies come out to try to find out what was causing the leak and give estimates. The rep from Johnson Roofing said that the flashing from one of the two skylights was leaking and that replacing it would solve the problem.

I let them do the job and sure enough, the leak stopped. They did a great job and I watched their repairmen do the work and was very impressed by their professionalism. They knew what they were doing and had the right tools they needed.

One well-known roofing company I had called wanted a $450 deposit before they even came out - I would never do this. Would highly recommend Johnson Roofing and will call them again if the flashing on the other skylight starts leaking.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
