I am writing this review because I am so very happy with the service that has been provided by everybody here. I recently did a remodeling job at my house, Nick DeLong came to the house and had our order delivered in no time. I added a couple other things later on and they were happy to get them to me quickly. When the job was done, they picked up the leftovers and promptly refunded me for the unused materials. Thank you to Nick for being a true professional, I am looking forward to my next time that I will buy from this great Maine company. Thanks to everybody that works there!

If you are looking for affordable kitchen cabinets this is the place to go, the quality of the cabinets at Hammond lumber on outer Hammond Street in Bangor surpasses home Depot or Lowe's right down to the delivery, Hammond won't try to deliver or pass you off a dented box with a damaged cabinet inside of it, that was a special order, they won't even attempt to do that. Things happen but when they do Hammond will be much more helpful than those big box stores. if there's a problem, return policies can be ignorant. Especially when a delivery isn't right and you try to bring it to the driver's attention but the driver doesn't speak English so we have no choice but to accept the order and that's the bottom line of Lowe's or home Depot, that's their way of sticking it to the customer and Hammond wouldn't do that

I went in to look at cabinets and was treated quite poorly gentlemen who was showing me the cabinets acted like I was below him like I wasn't good enough to buy their cabinets after u looked at some tools I was maybe 5 minutes browsing and was literally watched from both sides I was a their it was quite disappointing to be treated like this when I just wanted to see their products and prices really is why I was their I definitely will never shop their again it was quite unbelievable for a place to act the way they did towards a customer if you call acting professional by having multiple people stare at you like a criminal well I guess that's how you do it but. Most places don't try to make their customers feel like their doing something wrong by talking to their service people and and browsing for a moment

As a homeowner with a small bathroom project, I found Hammond Lumber to be unwelcoming. Quality assurance was also missing - they didnt know my bathroom vanity was damaged and actually told me I should have done the quality inspection. When my contractor arrived they found the issue. This negatively impacted my project time line. This was my first, and hopefully last, experience with Hammond Lumber.
I rated 2 stars (instead of 1) because the vanity is nice. Although, I wouldn't say it is much better than the one I purchased at Lowe's 2 months ago. The price was comparable to Lowe's as well.
Nothing especially great about my experience.

Worse place to get your stuff, very expensive and time consuming. Takes months to even get one piece of what you need in and then they lie to you and tell you it's there to make you waste your time driving there to find out they don't actually have it. What a waste of time and a joke company. There are better places to go, I do not recommend this garbage place.

I have my go-to guy that works in project sales, very knowledgeable and efficient in what he does. I prefer to support as local as I can, and this Maine owned company serves me amazingly well at every location I visit.

Very helpful with planning a project and buying what was needed. Didn't oversell product, helped me save money which is greatly appreciated!

Went in today to purchase a new kitchen and bathroom along with ship lap. Not one single mask. They had small pieces of plexi hanging but when they got up to help no mask. I had to ask repeatedly for them to mask up. The reason I share this is because I called ahead and asked if they were following CDC guidelines. I was told yes. If they told the truth I would have shopped else where and no bad review. Closer than 6' you wear a mask. It's that easy. Today we had 151 new cases. So disappointing.

Great selection and nice service from a friendly staff. They are also a Festool dealer along with other high end quality tools. Their #2 is like big box #1.

If you want fast paced service, respectful people, and quality materials, Hammond Lumber would be the way to go. Brent Beal was able to provide me a quote within minutes and had my materials ready for pickup the same day. It’s not very often you get great service when getting building supplies.

We recently completed a kitchen renovation with products and services from Hammond Lumber in Bangor. We could not be more pleased with our kitchen or with the helpful, courteous service, especially with our design expert , Lori Hardy. She made the process seamless and helped us every step of the way. We will definitely return to Hammond Lumber and to Lori for our next project.

Lori is fun to work with and graciously walked me through all the design options and decisions needed to completely transform my kitchen! No question was too minor to ask, orders were tracked meticulously, and problems addressed quickly. By sharing information in a straight-forward, objective manner, Lori made it easy for me to select products I know I will love and enjoy for years to come. I'll be back when it's time to upgrade the baths!

Outstanding knowledge, guidance, pricing and service. Paul was a step ahead of us all the way through our crisis rebuilding project, anticipating the materials we would need and continually checking out the progress in person. And when it turned out we didn't need everything we had ordered, Hammond picked up the extras and credited our account. Couldn't be happier!

Kitchen designer was very thorough and took whatever time we needed to go over our plans and offer design ideas. Great service.

Update: I was contacted by the store manager and he seemed very concerned with the situation. I was assured that a truck would be made available within a few days to pick up materials. I got another call a couple hours later to tell me it was coming today. They came and picked up the materials being returned and my customer is happy and so am I.

I am a contractor and had my customer purchase 1/4 log 2x8 pine siding. I specified enough to cover 15 square. My delivery looked too large, and I ended up with 680 L/Ft extra. I originally thought it was my mistake and remeasured the job, and still came up with 1448 sq/ft. They miscalculated and sent too much. Not a big deal until I have called 5 times over a month’s time about a return and scheduling a pick up. I expressed concern about the length of time the pine siding is sitting outside causing possible damage. The siding is still piled on dunnage and wrapped in the original tarp but can still become discolored or the tarp could develope holes. But my customers are sitting on over $1000 due to Hammond’s sales mistake and they wont pick up the extra material even though it was their error to begin with. I shouldnt have to consider a small claims court suit over a material return. I will gladly deal with SW Collins and Wallboard Supply. I am done using Hammond Lumber.

As a Trustee of the Hirundo Wildlife Refuge in Old Town and Alton, our recent experiences with the Hammond Lumber Company in Bangor have been outstanding. During the past several months, we have been engaged in constructing the second phase of our universal access trail that we call the Trail of the Senses. The trail is designed to provide access to visitors with sensory and mobility impairments. Student engineers from the University of Maine Construction Engineering Technology Program have been involved in design and construction of the trail, an observation deck and benches. The staff at Hammond Lumber Company, especially Ron Abbott, were outstanding at helping our student engineers with selection and pricing of materials needed for the project. All of the materials were delivered when and where needed. HLC even provided some of the materials at no cost. Needless to say, we are most appreciative of the involvement and support of HLC in this project.

Excellent company to deal with. They do what they say, orders arrive on schedule, and the people are responsible and professional.

My preference when stopping by for building supplies. Prices per piece may not always be the cheapest, but I've never been hassled when returning items. Deliveries are always on time with competent operators. Need a job done and failure isn't an option? Go see these guys. You'll be happier than what the big box stores offer. Hammond eggs, Hammond cheese, go on, say it. You know you want to.
