I've had lots of work done on my many houses over the years. But the new roof that Smith Builders installed recently, was by far, the best service I've ever had. The quote was reasonable (for a big roof). The crew showed up promptly at 7:00am and worked like demons to strip the old roof and put the new one on by the end of the day. They left the yard in better shape than they found it. Other than the normal noise, I never heard a peep from them. I couldn't recommend them any more highly.

With my experience with Smith Builders, I would absolutely recommend them to replace your shingled roof if you are considering a new roof for your home. We were gone on vacation when our roof was done. I was assured that that this wasn’t an issue as they said it happens often. I gave them a list of things that I had concerns about and they did everything that I had asked them to do. They completely stripped, removed some existing sheathing to correct a sag in the roof and shingled the roof all in one day. Their speed was amazing according to all my neighbors watching our project being completed. When we returned home, our new roof was beautiful. It didn’t even look as though anyone was even in our property. We had concerns about all of our new landscaping and flower gardens and not one thing was out of place or damaged. I have not found even one roofing nail around the house that was left behind. They came highly recommended and they certainly lived up to their expectations. They aren’t cheap but as far as I am concerned, the job they did was worth every penny. The old saying, “you get what you pay for”, we got our money’s worth for sure. So thanks to all of the Smith Builders employees for the excellent work on our roof and to Glen for his communication in keeping us up to date on all of our requests and pricing and seeing that our request was met. They certainly get an A++ from me! Don’t hesitate to call Smith Builders for your roofing project. You won’t be sorry!

Smith Builders is a top notch company! We recently hired them for two small projects and were are very happy with the work they did. This company was super responsive and kept us posted as rain delays pushed our start date back. They were here for just a few days and we couldn't tell we had any work done around the house because they cleaned up so well. Recently had my roof redone and have no complaints with any part of the process. Met with Zach for initial inspection. He went on to the roof to inspect dormers and vents then headed to the attic to check for water intrusion. Which was nice since I had other quotes where they just rough measured ansgave me a very generalised quote. They started when they said they would and it was complete including cleanup in 48 hours

Mike and the crew worked together to communicate expectations and necessary changes clearly and effectively. Compared to other quotes, this was competitively priced and the most thorough quote and explanation we received. The final product looks great and comes with a warranty on both materials and workmanship.

It has been a real pleasure dealing with Zach. He was very polite and informative. Good follow through and a joy to work with.

Our family is delighted with the product and installation of siding on our cottage provided and carried out by Smith Builders of Bangor, Maine. All communications from the project manager to the onsite builders were positive. Erick proved to be a very skilled carpenter and siding installer as well as answering my many questions about the project.

They not only did this in one day, but did it with expertise, professionalism and thoughtfulness and did a great job cleaning up afterwards. I highly recommend Smith Builders for all of your roofing needs. They just did a full roof replacement on my house and I am very pleased with the results. Mike Gray was our project manager and he did a great job from start to finish. He kept us informed throughout the process and was quick to respond to all of my questions. Requested an estimate and got a call to schedule the estimate appointment the very same day! Mike came out to do the estimate and was friendly and knowledgeable. He listened to what I needed and had his team come out to install my seamless gutters. From start to finish the whole team were friendly and professional. They cleaned up, left no trace, and were respectful of my time and property. The gutters look amazing and are already doing their job to move the water away from my garage door.

This is the second time I've had roof repairs with Smith Builders and worked with Zachary Christian. I was concerned about color matching, but they did it perfectly. Zachary’s estimates are accurate, and the crew always shows up as scheduled. They are professional, courteous, and do great work. I highly recommend them for repairs or a new roof.

My experience with Smith Builders has been life changing, as Mike from Smith Builders saved me from a possible foreclosure on a recently purchased home using a VA home loan.
For some context, due to new home owners insurance policies set in place at the turn of the year, my home was uninsurable. The main concern was the asphalt shingle roof which was just over 20 years old, and had caused slight water damage.
When purchasing the home, I had gotten a personal home inspection and had used the VA assessments, and no one was able to address these issues to me, so I didn’t know they existed. After purchasing the home the insurance was denied and no one was able to help me. I was looking at foreclosure because I couldn’t afford to fix anything to meet the standards for home owners insurance.
Finally, when I had researched that Smith Builders had a program called roofs for vets, I picked up the phone and spoke to Mike. He understood my issue, and had arranged to come look at the roof during the week, and a few weeks later I had a date planned for a new roof. I was beside myself at this point, because I had finally found someone that was able, and willing to help me.
The day arrived when a well organized group showed up, I observed that everyone knew their position, everyone had a job, and they were all very professional and friendly. No one seemed to complain about how windy and chilly it was that morning, or how icy the ground was. Instead they just got along and worked together.
I had to go to work that morning and when I got home the crew was gone, all they left was an amazing new roof and some footprints in the snow. I walked around the house looking at the new roof and was just amazed.
Words cannot describe how grateful I am just knowing that there are such kind people who are genuinely willing and able to help.

Mike and team did an excellent job, didn't leave a mess, and was very professional and courteous. Mike even called me to be sure everything was ok, the power went out while they were there, obviously affecting their work, but also to let me know there was beeping coming from inside.

Mike and the folks at Smith builders were great to deal with! When I first called, they didn’t think they could get to our project until late April. I explained that we needed it sooner if possible. Mike said he couldn’t promise anything, but that they would do their best to fit us in if anything opened up. And that is exactly what they did for us, just a short time later. The project was completed exactly as I requested. Wonderful people to deal with, highly recommend.

Zach and the team from Smith Builders did a fantastic job on getting our roof repaired. We needed a partial roof replacement on our garage following the most recent storm. Zach worked with us and our home insurance carrier and was excellent at communicating with us about our quote and their schedule. They arrived as promised when promised and worked a full day into the night. The roof is sound and looks great. Would highly recommend to those looking for a good roofing team in the area.

I have not actually had them do any work, and I’m probably glad for that. They took several days longer than they had told me to get me an estimate back for a roof replacement and was $13,000 more than the company we actually ended up going with. I implore anyone who gets a bid from these guys to get other bids as well, as there’s no way their product/service is worth the extra cost they had quoted me.

Smith Builders replaced our roof and re-pointed our chimney. They are the best contractor we have ever worked with in the 32 years we have been in our home. Great communication throughout. Zach Christian came out and did the estimate, and stayed in communication throughout. He was very easy to work with. The owner, Chris Smith, had installed the previous roof. The shingles were at their life expectancy, but still holding up strong. We wanted to replace them before they started issues. So I am not just speaking to the quality of the job they did now, but the previous roof was still going strong at the end of its life expectancy. They treated the property with respect, in fact, I heard a foreman giving some of the employees guidance on how to do that. This is likely the last roof we will have to put on our home, but if that changes I would choose them again.

Smith Builders installed a new roof on my house last week. Working with them was effortless. I haven't bought a lot of roofs in my time, this is the first actually. The choice was do it myself, and undoubtedly live with a blue tarp on my roof for an indefinite period of time. Or, find someone to do it.

I used the 'Free Estimate' form on their website, and was contacted by Zach. He was like the "guy in the van" on mission New Roof. He coordinated everything from the estimate to the options. All along the way I received detailed quotes, plans, and updates.

They were able to start the job earlier than expected, which from what I saw can be attributed to efficient planning and work. The materials were dropped the day before, and they arrived the next day to do the work. A small detail that I appreciated, no one showed up before I had left for work. Not that I would have minded, but having it be a regular morning with no involvement on my part was nice.

When I arrived home later that day they were wrapping up. They'd completed my 2-story, attached garage home in a day. From removing and disposing of the old shingles, installing the new singles, flashing, and re-installing heat-tape on a flat section, to cleaning up the yard debris. As I walked up a woman gave me a smile and moved the protective curtain surrounding my home so I could enter. An hour later it was like they were never there, except for the beautiful new roof.

Smith Builders just finished replacing our home and garage roofs. Zach, our contact, and the crew were completely professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. Zach worked with us for delivery and work times and the crew made sure shrubberies and flowerbeds were safe and undisturbed as they QUICKLY worked. My roof shingles took a beating on the first bad storm, back in December 2023. A corner of my roof had shingles, waterproofing matt, drip edges, along with vinyl fascia trimming on the back of my house ripped away by the winds. Several roofers I called never returned my phone call, not even to inquire what I needed. Looking further out, I noticed the Smith Builders (Glenburn) website. Hoping for a response, I requested a call from them via their website. The very next day, Jessica, from Smith Builders, called me and ascertained what my needs were. She was extremely polite, responsive and professional. Smith Builders was the only company to return my call. A couple of days later, a crew came by at 7:00 AM and temporarily repaired the damaged area. The repair crew told me to call Zachary in the office as he could help with any further roof issues. Contacting Zachary, I opted to have Smith Builders replace all shingles on the roof. Now, to date, Smith Builders had a large crew come down to replace all the shingles. The crew arrived at 6:50 AM and were completely done by 12:30 PM! Amazing! The crew members were efficient, friendly, conscientious, extremely hard working and very reactive to my roofing needs. When the crew completed the work and left, you would never guess they were even here at my home at all. Everything was picked up and even the lawn was raked in the area where they were working. Hats off to Smith Builder's! They are highly recommended!

There is nothing bad to say about my experience with Smith Builders. We worked with them to replace the aluminum siding on our house in Old Town. From quote to contract, to work to final bill, they were timely, professional, and easy to get ahold of. Each phone call was recorded, which gave me complete confidence that each change we discussed would be put into place.

Last December there was a storm that blew down a tree, which grazed our home. Had Smith Builder's of Glenburn Maine come out to access the damage and give us an estimate. They were very quick to do so with all the other business they must have had. Today, after we had seem the estimate and agreed to have them do the work, we were surprised to see a crew out here and fix the damage. Less that 3 weeks from the inspection to the fixing and their work was amazing. We elected to paint in the Spring since we have the primer and matching paint. GREAT JOB, Smith Builder's. I would recommend them to my friends, any day.

I value honesty, hard work, and getting quality in return for money spent—even if it requires paying a little more than the average. With Smith Builders, I received all three. It became apparent fairly quickly, when I met Issac, who did the initial roofing estimate, I was dealing with a company that also values honesty and integrity. This fact was reaffirmed when I met Zach, the crew lead, a fine young man. I did not speak to all of the crew, but the individuals I did talk with gave me a pretty good indication of the type of people Chris Smith hires—those I would trust to have my back.

The crew was respectful and professional, and despite being on a roof in 30 degree weather backed by a stiff wind, seemed surprisingly good-spirited. The equipment they used was all in good condition and appeared to be very well-maintained. These two facts speak volumes. Smith Builders takes care of their people and their equipment. In my experience, they approach their work in the same diligent manner.

I couldn’t say Smith Builders is the best roofing and siding company in the area because I have not had any dealings with other roofing contractors, but, I would not hesitate to put them up against any roofing company in the Bangor area. They showed up when they said they would, swarmed my roof like locusts on a bean field, and had the job finished in a matter of hours. After they left, if it weren’t for the facts I had a new roof and my deck was cleaner than it was before they came, I wouldn’t have known they were ever here.

Smith Builders business model is one to aspire to, and I would recommend anyone looking to have a roof replaced give them a call.

I am pretty disappointed with our experience. We called and got a quote for our entire roof repair which at the beginning was quick - a technician came out and checked out the roof quickly - the entire quote took over a month to get back to us and we had to call multiple times to know what it might cost.

then we asked if a repair was possible until the spring when we replace the entire roof - the receptionist said she'd ask the technician and have them call us - it's been 3 months.

Horrible communication and customer service. They don't really care to follow up and they are really unorganized. Was going to be a customer, but now will be looking elsewhere.

I am very pleased with the quaility of work by a very professional crew who installed new gutters and gutter guard. Also, working with scheduling and administrative staff added to making the whole project experience flawless without stress.

We have been converting our “camp” to our permanent home and were ready for the outside to be done including siding, new metal roof and the remaining old windows. We contacted Smith Builders and within a few days a project manager visited and took down all necessary information. When it came time to start, 4 trucks full of people rolled in and it seems like within 10 minutes they were busy peeling off the old roof. Two weeks later, our project is done and looks fantastic. I would like to call out the following things:
The crew was very respectful to us (we work from home and here the whole time) and our property.
They listened to my concerns and made sure I was comfortable with their plan to address them.
The attention to detail and the quality of work exceeded my expectations. My wife and I are very pleased with the results.

Smith builders replaced my roof will a new metal one. Their work was exceptional. They had to work under very difficult conditions. The materials had to be brought in by barge from the road which ends 3 miles away at the other end of the lake. There is also no electricity. With all these problems, they completed the task at cost and on times. I can give them only my complete and unconditional recommendation. THEY ARE THE BEST!

They exceeded expectations!

The project was pushed back several times due to rain and exterior painting on portions over the roof that needed to be completed before the roof replacement.

Once all the lights were green they installed new architectural shingles (GAF HDZ Timberline) on a steep roof on multiple levels in just 5 hours. They arrived at 20 to 3 in the afternoon, started taking down the old roof in earnest at 3 pm and by 8 pm everything was done, including cleanup.

The roof looks great and has a great warranty. It survived Lee with no leaks.

Smith Builders was recommended to me by a family member. He is a supervisor of large Building corporation and started building construction business with his brother shortly after high school. He had worked for well established construction company's for decades. So he knows his business and when he highly recommended this company after they did his own home as well as his brother in laws I listened. And boy I'm glad I did. Not only was dealing with these folks a pleasure but the work and work ethics of the crew who did our roof is nothing short of amazing! Our house is a small ranch and they completed stripping and replacing the roof in 4hrs and 45mins. This included reflashing the chimney, replacing 2 stink pipe vents and boot flashing, and installing a roof vent hood. All of the products are of high quality. The system, and multitasking that each crewmember did was perfect rhythm and enjoyment to witness. I highly rate this company from seeing what they did and with quality at my own home

They replaced our roof in one day for the quoted price. Excellent job on the roof and cleanup. We would definitely hire them again. Wish it could have been less expensive but I don't blame them. Everything has gotten so expensive lately and the other quotes we got were about the same.

We had a tree fall our house last winter. Smith builders completed all repairs for us including new roof, new vinyl siding, and replaced a large half-round window. They did a great job, communicated well and it was always easy to call and talk to someone. They showed up on time and got the job done quickly with good quality.

I could not say enough good things about this company !! From my very first phone call to them until the end of my roof replacement was a great experience Jeremy came out walked me through the entire process and let me know what to expect . The team came out and had my house and garage roof replaced in about two days. After the project was done I still felt like something was missing to complete the look of my new roof I let Jeremy know I really wanted my facia boards to match my new roof and he helped me set up that project as well! Both projects are now complete and I can say they went above and beyond and I will be using them for my future siding needs as well .

1 Year Update: I had a leak in the gutter past Summer. I sent a text and picture to the contact. In a couple of weeks, they came and fixed it. Turns out, they had not done the water test in the first install. I was glad to see they performed the water test. It hasn't leaked since.
