On 2/22 I called Cloverdale Plumbing because I believed I had a leak in my shower. Cloverdale Plumbing came and quickly realized I had a shower tub leak and recommended Disaster Response to come out for mitigation and repair. I researched reviews for Disaster Response and found very few negative responses, so I felt good going with a company that the plumber has recommended. Mitigation finished on 3/15 and I signed the cert of completion. On 4/2 we received a quote for repairs and on 4/9, my insurance company released funds. On 4/22 (2 months from the original leak) I still didn’t have a working shower, and was left with only the demo being done, carpet ripped up and half of my wall torn out. On 5/18 (3 months to complete) I finally signed the cert of completion out of pure frustration of not receiving any response of a few open issues.
The issues that we had during the process was:
-it took 3 months to complete a 4x4 shower. Should have taken at the most a few weeks.
-I had 4 adults sharing one working shower for 3 months. Working around work schedules, and college classes.
-My house was open for 3 months to contractors coming and going. Some appointments made and had no shows to showing up with no notice and working until 9:00 pm.
-After the shower was complete, a huge pile of trash was left in my garage to the point I could not park my car in the garage.
- When we were told we could finally use the shower on a Saturday morning, the first person to use it noticed that the water was backing up. Called the project manager and the soonest a plumber could come out would be Tuesday. The plumber pulled out tile, rock and grout from the drain.
- I asked questions on original bid that insurance paid vs. what was actually done. Per the project manager, there is no reconciliation that is done. The reason I asked was because I was quoted as having new baseboards put on when they put back on my original baseboards. There were 3 full boxes of extra tile left over, along with several extra bags of grout. Among other cleaning items that were never done.
-The shower never had a final cleaning. There were marks and grout left on the file, along with grout on my bathroom floor and minimal cleaning done in the rest of the bathroom.
A final payment invoice was sent to me on May 14, I expressed my complete displeasure on dealing with Disaster Response. I was told to hold off paying the invoice until the CEO called me back to discuss my experience. I never received a call from the CEO, but I did receive a call from the Chief Business Officer who said he would have a team meeting and call me back in a few days. I never heard back from him. On June 9, I received a call from the project manager asking for payment. I told him that I was still waiting for a call from upper management. During the conversation he said he talked to the tiler into not putting a lien on my house because the tiler was not getting paid for doing the job. Again, after complete frustration I just wanted to pay the invoice and be done with this company. I was sent another invoice on 6/15 with a credit for all my trouble, which ended up being MORE than the original invoice. The only advice I have is to go for another quote with another company and go with someone your insurance company recommends. But, unfortunately, I would not recommend Disaster Response.
