Big Bear Roofing - Pocatello, ID

Two years ago, we commissioned Chad Bearup doing business as Big Bear Roofing to replace the roof on our house. It was approximately an 8,000 sq. ft. job. Two octagonal pyramid peaks on the house and gazebo were supposed to be fitted with metal caps to replace the copper ones that were torn off for the reroofing. It has been two-plus years, and Chad is still balking at finishing the job. He still claims that we are “on the list” of jobs to finish. He claimed that he had Briggs Steel in Rigby to do the fabrication of such structures in the past, but they no longer did such work. We called Briggs Steel on July 7, 2023, and they said otherwise. Additionally, there are secondary obligations that were not met. They were contracted to clean the gutters of construction debris. They didn’t. They were contracted to clear our yard of nails and other debris. They didn’t do it very well. They were quick to leave when it started to get warm, and they never came back. We live at 1219 College Rd in Pocatello, and you can see where a cap is missing on the peak on the right side of the house above the diamond windows. I suspect that they do passable work on small jobs, but don’t trust them with jobs that may be over their heads. We were stupid to pay before the job was completed. We were stupid to generously tip the crew. Never again.

I would recommend this company. I worked with Becca and she was very professional and knowledgeable. She walked me through the whole process. The whole process was done extremely well.

I did not know it at the time, but when Eddie Moreno from Big Bear Roofing knocked on my front door and told me I needed to replace my roof, it was a lucky day. After looking at the evidence and talking to some other contacts, Linda and I decided to go ahead with the contract. Eddie stayed on top of all the details involved in the job and made sure everything stayed on track. The crew he sent over was competent, energetic, and worked well together. Ten minutes after arrival, they were tearing off the old roof. Six hours later, they were finished and packing up their trucks. It was a good experience all around.

I contacted Big Bear Roofing because they had done a terrific job replacing the roof on our neighbor's home after hail damage. Chaun Siemple visited our home, photographed the roof using a drone, and recommended several repairs. He arranged for the repairs to be done and we were very satisfied with the service.

After calling Big Bear to check out leaks coming from my barn roof they had a gentleman Diego Garzon come and look. He got on the roof, worked with the insurance co, put up a tarp to stop the leaks & when I found another leak in a different area I called him and he came right back and added a second tarp. A very nice, polite, friendly & professional man. If you need roofing call Big Bear and request Diego!! He is amazing!!!

Danny was wonderful to work with. He was and is with you through the whole process, from original estate to meeting with my insurance adjuster, to still helping me with anything I need.

I have been in contact with chad. We arranged for someone to take a look at our roof at the beginning of November. He told me he would have someone out to fix it by the end of the week. He did send someone to take pictures but they did not work on it. I called again the following week. Once again I received the same response. Someone by the end of the week. The week came and went. We began to develop a leak through our light fixtures and began developing damage to our structure. I continued to call and ask for an update. All I was asking for was communication on where we were on his list (if he didn’t have the time I wish he would have been honest and let us know so we could call other companies rather than pay $$$ for extensive water damage). Every time I called I continued to get the same old response. Someone will be out today/end of week etc. here we are at the end of December and there was still very little communication, empty promises and it got to the point we called and left multiple messages just to get a call back asking for updates. Finally I called a different roofing company for help and guidance and due to the nature of our business and the severity of the leak they were able to fix it the same day. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of communication, no follow through and complete run around. I have never received this type of service from a company. Would ABSOLUTELY NOT recommend this company!!!!

Chad came out and put a roof on a little library I was building. We called asking for some help and advice and he drove out within the hour and then stayed and installed the whole thing! He was extremely professional and helpful. I 10000% recommend Chad and this business. We will be using them again for any roofing in the future. Danny Craver was our go to person who initially inspected our roof. He guided us through the process which made it completely painless for us. The installation was done and finished as he predicted. Our property was cleared of all debris. Thank you Big Bear and Danny for a job well done!!

Submitted a request for a repair on their website at about 10 this morning, got a call at 2, someone came and looked at what needed to be done at 3, gave me a quote, and repaired the leak for a great price by 4! I loved the response time, the friendly professionalism, and the fact that I wasn't pressured into getting any more work done than was absolutely necessary. I will be using this company again!

After it came to Chad Bearup's attention about a problem with my roof installation he immediately addressed this in a professional manner. I was very pleased with the effort made to ensure customer satisfaction. Mr. Bearup was very professional in the handling of the issue, I believe him to be an honest and reputable business person.

What an absolute pleasure it was working with Bo Briggs at Big Bear Roofing. We had contracted with a different roofing company to replace our roof in December and in March they still had not done it. The rainy weather caused much damage, and I got tired of waiting. I called Big Bear Roofing on Thursday, Bo came and looked at the roof and started the roof on Saturday. They were finished on Monday. He was honest and kind, and very prompt. Wow! I found wind damage on the shop after a storm and searched for a roofing company. Called Big Bear and Chad came the same day to give an estimate. We discussed options and I realized that the old section of the shop roof was never properly installed. Chad gave me a fair estimate. I liked his honesty, professionalism and the timeline he proposed. Yes, it was a smallish job; one that could be completed with a crew in one day. In under 10 days I now have a new roof. Big Bear Roofing is the roofing company you want to use! We had a leak in our roof with water coming into our kitchen. They squeezed us into their very full schedule within a week. Chad gave us a fair bid and sent his crew out to get the repair done quickly. Chad was very professional and had great communication with us. His crew worked quickly and did an excellent job. They were very detail oriented and cleaned the job site before they left. We are very pleased with their workmanship. We would recommend Big Bear Roofing for any job big or small!

Our sales person was great at first then wasn’t so available as time went on. They moved the install day out one more day. That wasn’t a problem. I understood the weather issues. The materials showed up on the original date (the day before the original date) I wasn’t sure if the date had switched back or not...it had not. Then on the day before install I get a call wanting to come on the original date. I wasn’t completely ready and at work but whatever. They were going to start at 11am. They showed up around 1pm. Were outside till well after dark. This explains all the nails I have picked up from the driveway. They left the dump trailer in the driveway until 9pm the next night. Probably would have been longer if I had not stayed on top of them. It also smelled very much of stale beer. The guys were drinking during the install so I hope it was done correctly. Today is 4 days after install and I found two more empty pint bottles in a crate beside my driveway. Not sure how much was actually consumed but I know for sure half a case plus two pints. The salesman and superintendent were very apologetic but this is the roof over my home! I was not super impressed

Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Chad is incredibly knowledgeable and his team did an excellent job on my tricky roof. If I ever need anything done with a roof again I'll be going to Big Bear and I suggest anyone else do the same!

Big Bear did a great job!! The initial presentation was very informative and they totally know their product. They showed when they said they would cleaned up every day. Every one was just awesome. Donnie, our project manager was there every day checking in and was there at the end making sure our property was cleaned of any debris. Clean, proficient work crew. I would highly recommend them.

Chad came out and gave me a fair quote. When we were ready to do the roof on our garage it was done in a timely manner. The workers were great, fast and professional. I'm very happy I went with them. I will go to them again for future roofing needs.

We had Big Bear come out to install complete new roof. Upon arrival to completion they where professional, prompt and respectful (answered all my questions and requests without hesitation). The quality of the work was perfect and flawless. Jim let me know every little detail before they did anything. I was very pleased. The quality of shingles are superb and it looks great. I would definitely recommend Big Bear Roofing.

In December 2020, we experienced a fairly sever wind storm here in Pocatello. It took me a few days to notice, but my roof had been damaged beyond repair. I lost MANY shingles, and worried about the cost of such a daunting task, I called a few well reviewed roofers here locally. Big Bear was the first to even answer. Once I had explained my issue, he had me contact my insurance company with the date of the severe weather to let them know my roof was in trouble. As my claim was being reviewed, Chad from Big Bear was there the whole way. He was beyond helpful, and made time to come to my house to meet adjusters and walk them through the damage to my roof. In short order Chad's skilled and well mannered crew were hard at work replacing my entire roof. Given the time of year, it took a few weeks, but only because of the unforgiving Idaho weather. That said, when they were at work, they were at WORK. On the few clear days we had they accomplished a very great amount of work. I am attaching a few pictures below. I absolutely recommend Big Bear for any and ALL of your roofing needs!

We had Chad and his crew come out to bid a repair for a leak in our garage roof. They arrived quickly, they got us an estimate on how much it would cost and how soon they could get on it. They fixed the roof, and did a great job.

I never knew getting a new roof would be so painless and effortless. The Big Bear crew took care of everything from the free inspection, negotiating with insurance, and a fabulous new roof! All I had to pay was my deductible!

Started off well enough when I called and made an appointment for the same day for an inspection. Half an hour past the appointment time, I call and ask if he's still coming, to which I was told, yes, but he's selling a ford excursion and someone was looking at it and it was taking longer than expected. Which, okay, whatever, but maybe call me to let me know. Then he tells me that's he leaving right now, and to give him another half hour. Fine, I don't have anything going on today. Another hour rolls by and hes still a no-show. I call again and get voicemail. Don't hear from him the rest of the day. Thanks wasting my time and lying to me.

After the high winds in Idaho my mom noticed a wood piece sticking out of the plastic ceiling panel on the back porch. The team at big bear roofing are the guys to use for sure, professional reliable and very knowledgeable. Can't wait to see you guys again soon!

I had decided to replace my roof myself and I got it torn completely off just in time for the weather to hit. Andrew from big bear was the only roofer in town to answer my phone call due to severe storm damage in our area few weeks prior. the crew was on the job promptly and had my roof "dried in" in one day and finished the second. The work itself was immaculate. Dave the crew leader addressed my concerns and answered my questions and offered expert advise on the venting and sagging of my nearly 100 year old house. Under Dave's leadership the young men and women installed a new roof in a tenth of the time it would have taken me at ten time the quality, plus they warranty their work. The customer service at Ursa Major is beyond 5 star, I'd give them 10 if i could. I cannot recommend enough.

Amazing and fast service, had them install a brand new roof on my new house when I bought it. never met a crew that worked so well together and were so friendly. Amazing customer service and speedy timing, excellent cleanup of job sight when they finished. the owner of the company called months after the job was complete to make sure I was happy about the job him and his crew had done, will NEVER look at another roofing company for any further projects and Will absolutely recommend them to everybody that I know.
