I work in the wholesale roofing distribution business, and have worked with many contractors, but I personally hadn’t gone thru the process of having a new roof installed. Steve Kemp builders Foreman Jennifer Solomon came out for an estimate, and I was very impressed from the start. As she prepared to get on the roof, she paid special attention to safety, I’m very safety oriented. Then as we sat at the table, I could tell she was very knowledgeable about the products and the process. Being in the business I threw some tough questions at Jennifer and she didn’t miss a step. From the start of the process to the end, she made it completely painless , and actually enjoyable. Jennifer’s attention to detail and accuracy was also very impressive. Quality workmanship, and professional. Would I recommend Steve Kemp Builders, absolutely! I would also recommend Jennifer Salomon

Ursula took a very detailed assessment of my roof and even met the insurance adjuster to point out damage caused by years of storms and high winds. This made it very easy to get my insurance to cover the replacement.

The crew that came out to do the work was also great. They had the roof off and back on in about 8 hours.

We began this process with you guys in October of last year. The roof shingles have been done. We have been patiently waiting for the metal part of the roof, the gutters and downspouts for a very long time now. We are told that you guys will be here, or we will call you back, and nothing happens. What do we need to do to get this thing finished? This is borderline abandonment at this point. Do I need to go that way?

Found this company from posting their signs in my neighborhood. I called them and the gentlemen came out at his earliest convenience. He was very friendly, professional, and always got back to me. We had a great experience with Ursula. She was very knowledgeable, personable, and helped us get our roof covered by insurance. She also helped us pick the color (we love it!) We have, and will continue to, refer friends to her and Steve Kemper Builders. The roofing crew was finished very timely and cleaned up the yard, and Ursula came back afterward and did another sweep of the yard after the crews left. The roof held up to a heavy rainstorm two days after they were finished with no leaks. We could not have been happier with the customer service that they provided!!

Everything was done as agreed and on time. In addition to the new high quality roof and gutter work we had low-e insulation installed as well as copper strips to help keep the lichen down. The crew was professional and efficient, and cleanup was excellent. Dustin Bowers, the project manager, was a pleasure to work with including communication, which is a top priority for us.

I would give this company ten stars if I could. Ursula has been great to work with. She was patient, kind, extremely helpful, and she went above and beyond to help us. She was here to meet with our insurance adjuster and helped get our insurance claim approved. She was very professional in helping us pick out the colors. She was also here during the project and kept checking in to make sure everything was going smoothly. Excellent customer service! Also, the quality of the roof and workers is exceptional. My house now looks like a show piece.

My saleswoman Jennifer Salomon was amazing to work with. Extremely helpful. She pretty much took care of everything for us. Any concerns or issues that arose she had taken care promptly. The work itself was done in half a day. Can't say enough good things. I have referred numerous folks to Jennifer and Steve Kemper Builders.

Dave the gutter guy was amazing. He did great work and with good quality.

The roofing crew was not good. I would not recommend them to anyone. They broke a light on my deck and just pushed the broken glass into the yard. I have gathered up three shopping bags full of nails and other debris even after I made them come back to clean up. About a month after the install I had shingles blowing off that they had to come back to repair. Absolutely terrible to deal with. I do not recommend Steve kemper builders for roofing to anyone.

The sales person Jennifer was very personable and friendly. She seems very overworked as it was difficult to reach her sometimes, but overall very pleasant.

This is the worst company, very unprofessional owner. So, this guy came and assess my roof and gave me an estimate to replace it. In the meantime I had other companies came to my home and gave me free estimates as well. As a customer, I chose the company with the best deal.
Today the guy from steve kemper builder called me and asked about the status of the roof and I told him that I had somebody else did the job for me. And Oh my god this dude went off on me cursing me and threatening me to punch me in the face and he is going to see me... He even thought that I am indian and you f.... indians. Unbelievable. He said I disrespected him because I didn’t go with his company to do the job. I already called berkeley county sheriff office to put a complaint against him. Beware of this guy.

Very shady company with very poor communication. Salesman and managers blatantly lie to you. My salesman told me lies such as “ you will not have to pay your deductible, we will cover it for you.” After raising my concerns with my salesman to the general manager, he told my wife one thing then met with me and gave me a different story. There was no communication amongst the company or toward me as to when the work would be performed. As far as the laborers and the work they provided, it was great. In and out with no mess and roof looks great. I really wish the laborers worked for a company that cared about them and their employees.

Dustin Bowers is a true professional. Knowledgeable, informative, prompt and friendly. He liased with my insurance company, keeping me informed along the way. Product options were explained thoroughly (Kemper sells great product, they will not let you put junk on your home)! The overall process of my roof installation was easy. The crew worked fast and did a fantastic cleanup after completion. Again, I can thank Dustin for a seamless, easy, and qualitative experience.

He, at my request, took the position of liaison between Nationwide Insurance and Championn Mortgage. When he returned to me with his computer and showed m..e his calculations, I was blown away with his comprehensive, detailed document. The quality of the work performed was beautiful. I have a rental property that lost few shingles, in Alexandria VA, related to bad weather we had in the area so I asked him to if he can assist me in replacing the roof for me.
He explained to me the whole process dealing with the insurance company as well as the shingles types and the different qualities. After meeting with the insurance adjuster, he scheduled and oversaw the installation of the new roof based according to the choices I made.
He was instrumental in executing the replacement of the roof in a timely manner and made sure that the work quality was as expected.
I would use again this company with any work involving roof or siding in the future.

After a hail storm last spring I looked up at my roof from my yard and could not tell if I had damage. Fortunately Badou Hadidane from Steve Kemper Builders in Falling Waters WV stopped by. He talked with me about the storm and explained to me what hail damage really looked like. Then we went up on the roof and I could see as he explained to me what I was actually looking at. WOW! I did not see the damage easily from the ground but his experience in the field opened my eyes to what I was overlooking. He was respectful, educational, and very helpful. He worked with my insurance company directly for me and met with them at my house for the inspection.

Badou worked with me to find the shingles I needed and the guttering. The actual removal of the old roof and installation of the new was completed in a neat and timely manner. He oversaw the operation and kept me posted throughout the process. I would highly recommend them. The new roof and gutters looks great and the process was made easy due to Badou's knowledge of the job.

I would just like to say that Dustin from Steve Kemper Builder was amazing to us.I know some people will promise you this and that and tell you what you want to hear but when Dustin told us when they would start and be here we could set our time by him. He was so professional but yet talked to us and treat us family. We loved the fact that when we had a question he was always there when we reached out. The crew that worked on the house seemed very nice and did an excellent job. Our over all experience was excellent. Typically, in my experience, project manager’s show up only at the beginning and the end of the project, but Badou was present at all phases of the project. We appreciated the continuity and quick response to any question or issue we raised. We were very satisfied and I would absolutely recommend Badou for roof replacement.
