Contracted Smart Roof for roof replacement after it was damaged by hail.

Seamless operation from the sales staff (Wisdom), project management team (Dominik) to the actual roofers. Interface with my insurance company was timely and efficient. Detailed photos and measurements were provided to aid in the evaluation of the project and insurance company requirements.

The website for payment transfer was extremely helpful as well.

Overall a first rate job. Would recommend wholeheartedly.

I am so happy with the work this company did for me. They replaced both my shingle and metal roof along with gutters and downspouts. It was a long process working with the insurance company but they stuck with it, and got it all approved! They were in constant communication with me even through staffing changes. Emmanuel was my project manager and I could not thank him enough for the customer service he gave me. He truly went the extra mile for me. In September 2024, our area experienced a severe hailstorm, leading to significant damage to many homes, including mine. Most houses around me qualified through their insurance companies for full roof replacements, and some even for new siding if they had aluminum siding.
Initially, I contacted a few roofing companies on my own, but they either dropped the ball or were not effective in working with my insurance company. Then Smart Roof knocked on my door, and I decided to give them a try and I'm glad I did (mostly).
From the start, Smart Roof did a fantastic job. They thoroughly documented all the damage, submitted everything to my insurance company, and consistently followed up. As the homeowner, I still had to get involved and fight a long battle with the insurance company to secure a full roof replacement, but Smart Roof's support and expertise were invaluable during that process. Their sales representative also did a great job helping me choose the right shingle color, making that part of the process smooth and easy.

Installation Day:
The installation itself went smoothly. The crew showed up early and immediately got to work tearing off the old roof. I expected the process to be loud and messy it’s roofing, after all and they did take precautions by laying tarps around the house to catch debris. However, the tarps they used were clearly old and full of holes. While not a huge issue by itself, it contributed to the cleanup problems afterward.

Where Things Went Wrong: Cleanup
After the crew finished, they did a basic "cleanup" of the site. However, the next day, I noticed significant issues: roofing tar was smeared across my front steps, deck railings, siding, freshly painted trim, and garage door. I immediately contacted Smart Roof, and they promised to send someone back out to re-clean. Unfortunately, a few days passed with no response. While I was dealing with unrelated siding repairs, I found even more debris and nails around the property.
At that point, out of frustration, I told Smart Roof not to worry about coming back I would handle the cleanup myself. To be clear, I wasn't trying to be passive-aggressive; I simply didn’t want to wait any longer. Still, I expected they might follow up or come out anyway, but they never did. Over this weekend while doing yardwork, I continued finding a lot of nails and other leftover debris throughout my yard and landscaping.

Final Thoughts:
At the end of the day, Smart Roof did a fantastic job helping with insurance, completing the roof replacement, and providing excellent customer service during the major parts of the project. However, their job site cleanup was extremely disappointing and left a bad final impression.

Cleanup may not be the most glamorous part of the job, but it's critically important especially when nails and sharp debris are left in the grass and around the house where people and pets walk.

DO NOT TRUST SMART ROOF, LLC – THEY ARE DISHONEST LIARS!

RUN as fast as you can away from Smart Roof, LLC! They are manipulative, dishonest, and will say anything to get you to sign a contract—only to hit you with unexpected charges later. I learned this the hard way, and I’m writing this review to warn others before they fall into the same trap.

Smart Roof knocked on my door out of the blue in 2023, claiming they could inspect my roof for free due to a hurricane on June 26, 2023 (which I didn’t even recall happening). They assured me—repeatedly—that if they found damage, they would handle everything with my homeowner’s insurance, and **I wouldn’t pay a dime out of pocket**. That was the key promise that made me agree to let them inspect my roof.

The Lies Begin
After the inspection, they identified supposed "damage" and promised to get my insurance company to cover a brand-new roof and gutters. The insurance company, however, sent out an adjuster who found NO damage. Smart Roof told me not to worry, claiming insurance companies just “don’t want to pay.” They encouraged me to appeal the decision twice, and on the third attempt, the adjuster finally approved a $25,000 claim for a new roof.

Smart Roof immediately scheduled a meeting to discuss materials and the scope of work. In the meantime, I did my due diligence and got a second estimate from another well-reviewed roofing company, which quoted me $22,000 for everything—roof, gutters, and upgraded gutter covers. But I decided to stay loyal to Smart Roof since they had done all the legwork. That was my mistake.

The Bait and Switch
At my design meeting, Smart Roof presented a massive 25-page proposal filled with flashy digital renderings. I let them do their pitch without mentioning my second estimate, just to see what their numbers looked like. And guess what? Their quote came out to $29K

I looked them in the eye and reminded them of their original promise: "This will NOT cost you one dime out of pocket." They reassured me once again, saying they’d go back to the insurance company to get the extra costs covered.

I foolishly believed them. I signed their contract digitally on their computer, trusting their word instead of reading the fine print.

The Final Scam
The work was completed, and Smart Roof immediately sent me an invoice for more than the $25,000 insurance payout. I was confused. My insurance company confirmed they had paid the full amount approved and wouldn’t cover a penny more.

I called Smart Roof, expecting this to be a mistake. Instead, they coldly told me: "You signed the contract. You owe the difference.”

I was in shock. I had given them every cent of my insurance payout, so why was I suddenly on the hook for more money? They claimed I had requested an expensive "Golden Pledge Warranty" that added $3,500 in extra charges

When I pushed back, their attitude changed completely. They stopped being friendly and started using the contract as a weapon against me. Their entire promise of “no out-of-pocket costs” was a lie. They manipulated me into thinking they were working for my best interests when, in reality, they were padding the bill and squeezing me for more money.

Final Warning to Homeowners
I ultimately paid the difference just to be done with this nightmare, but I’ll never make that mistake again. Smart Roof, LLC is a dishonest company that will mislead you, overcharge you, and trap you in a contract full of hidden costs.

DO NOT HIRE SMART ROOF, LLC. If they knock on your door, slam it shut. If they claim they’ll get your insurance to cover everything, they are lying.

If you must deal with them, use them to get your insurance approval—then take your insurance money and hire an HONEST company** with a straightforward contract and a solid reputation. I wish I had done that instead.

Read their terrible reviews. Don’t make the same mistake I did.

Isaac Green did an outstanding job during his service visit on January 14th. He quickly diagnosed and subsequently solved our inverter issue. Isaac was very knowledgeable and made us feel at ease throughout his visit. His follow-up report was timely and well-written. Very professional job, we are very pleased!

I recently worked with SmartRoot and had a somewhat mixed experience overall. The sales representative was fantastic—very helpful and informative throughout the process. However, the person responsible for showing us samples and helping us finalize our choices forgot to hand in a vital document, which caused confusion and delays in scheduling the installation date. Once everything was sorted out, the installation itself went smoothly and was completed in a single day, with the crew leaving the area clean and well-organized. Afterward, I did raise a few concerns, and although the project manager reassured me that everything was done correctly, he seemed primarily focused on getting the final payment paperwork signed. Ultimately, I dealt with multiple individuals, and each interaction felt different—some were straightforward, others less so—leading me to believe that every customer’s experience may vary depending on who they work with. Overall, I’d rate my experience a generous 3 out of 5 stars.

Had already a good experience of roof replacement, sales, insurance negotiations, installation crew. Reported a problem half a year later and got immediate respond and technician’s visit, and confirmation for a repair. Technician Elijah Green was sent to do the repair work. He first did the prepwork in a good, old-fashion way. He made a new counter flashing in stepped design adding edge stiffenings, fastened the flashing with stainless screws, used special caulk and finished the mastic by pressing it against chimney bricks. Every detail counts and Elijah was extraordinary skilled and disciplined every step of the way. Enjoyed seeing a young man adopting ways of experienced professionals.

Smart Roof salesman and project manager was great. Blue Tower was the crew that did the labor and I don’t have any complaints for the great work.

The same individual has come to my house not once but twice and blatantly lied about how long a roof is expected to last, which he insists is exactly eight years. I don't particularly care if sales person comes by but to have the same person come twice and then lied is over the top

SIX MONTHS LATER: I had a gutter that was overflowing during rain storms and called Smart Roof. They came out and quickly fixed the problem. I was still under their one year warranty. I was very impressed with their responsiveness!!! First with Isaac answering my phone call and following up and Rene scheduling the techs to come out. Still very happy with the roof job and now VERY VERY happy with their support and follow up. I can't recommend them more highly!!!

Smart Roof did a great job on my roof replacement!! Could not have been more pleased and impressed with the work, the professionalism and the final outcome including a couple of extra visits needed to finish the job. Kudos to Frank Scarchilli, our Project Manager, for his support and leadership!!

SmartRoof did a great job with our roof! Our roof had a section that was a flat roof, that had leaked, leading to damaged wood underneath the flat rubber mat. Isaac Green assessed the issues and recommended to get rid of the flat roof and replace it with a slanted, enclosed shingled frame. He designed, built and installed the enclosed frame single-handedly in 2 days! It’s a relief off our shoulders! Eli came the next day to shingle the frame. He did an outstanding job! I’m so impressed he brings his trailered Tool Box, with all his tools, and supplies! Now, that’s a professional!

We had a great experience with SmartRoof. The entire process was excellent from the sales team to the installation. Alex and Connor (sales team) did a thorough job of explaining the entire process and helping us choose to right shingle and color for our roof. Connor (project manager) was on site the entire time during installation, answering our questions and updating us on the progress. The installation crew did a great job of cleaning up and removing the debris when they were finished. The roof looks fantastic and we are extremely satisfied with SmartRoof and would highly recommend.

Two sides to this experience:
1. Salesman up front was excellent. He did an amazing, detailed job of discovering and documenting all the damage to our roof.

2. Contract lead on site with us seriously bate and switched on us regarding terms of the loan and insurance covered portions that cost us thousands. When I requested consideration and attempted to return to what was promised, the SmartRoof office literally laughed at me. At that point, it was clear they are a marketing firm with a quantity goal over captured client relations.

3. Team on site was local 100% Latinos. As we speak Spanish fluently, we received enlightening feedback on how much they cost vs what we paid. I understand commercial retail markup well but the SmartRoof markup is abuse. Like Credit card interest rate abusive.

4. The Latinos did an excellent job. Hard workers, attention to detail but missed a critical spot. Major point. When I too pictures and made a point, I was placate bit delayed. When one pays $80,000 one expects a micron level attention to detail and absolutely complete work. Not to be placate, delayed and a list of excuses. I just want it fixed. After several months, the finishing work was completed.

Again, the work is excellent. Management and corporate culture are pit of touch with client and do not represent well what is advertised. I would have been better off by far working with a local company. SmartRoof premium charges for name brand at the expense of any value to the client.

I cannot give a positive referral and will not suggest anyone I know use the company.

William Valencia is literally THE BEST Consultant:project manager we could ever ask for. Navigating through the insurance process is no doubt overwhelming. You are interrupting a meeting, a phone call, or my rare and valuable concentration. By far the best experience I could imagine with getting a new roof. It began with unbelievable support from Nathan in navigating options, the insurance company, and claims process. Nathan remained responsive throughout the project. SmartRoof customer support continued with Field Supervisor Frank Scarchilli, who kept us updated daily on progress and addressed any questions we had immediately. The quality of work was exceptional and we could not be more happy. Thank you SmartRoof

William Valencia from SmartRoof did an excellent job on my roof. He inspected the hail damaged roof and worked with my insurance company to have my 20 year old roof covered by the insurance. His leadership made the whole project move very smoothly.

DON'T TRUST THESE GUYS
Had someone stop by the house saying we had storm damage on our roof. We said we weren't looking to replace the roof. A second person comes by later to do a roof inspection anyway. Tell that guy we weren't interested, but he does the inspection anyway.

A third guy Jonathan comes by and will not take no for an answer. Says he's worked with our insurance company before and they'll take care of it. We let him set up a claim.

Well they don't show up for the claim inspection. Insurance comes back and sends a check for $167. Guess who we haven't heard from?

NO SHOW ON INSPECTION, NO CALL BACK, NO CONTACT INFO.

These guys are insurance scammers.

I had solar panels installed on my roof, as well as my electric box upgraded (which was originally put in when the house was built in 1972). All of the workers were very professional, and the entire project was installed within a week of obtaining permission to install from West Penn Power. While West Penn drug their feet in giving Permission to Operate, Thomas Bartley and Joseph Garcia kept me updated as much as they could. SmartRoof really surpassed my expectations! Thank you so much!

OK work but bad sales for solar projects.

Sales: The sales person made a lot of false claims on tax incentives during the estimate. For residential project, there is only 30% credit. But he added 10% domestic content credit (commercial only with tons of restrictions, 5% VA tax credit (non-exist) to make it like 45% initial cost reduction. We got tricked and signed the contract based on those lies. The cost was slightly above VA average.

Work: the actual work was fine. The communication was good, and the project was finished on time with good workmanship

I can't recommend SmartRoof highly enough! From start to finish, their service was exceptional. We recently had our roof replaced by SmartRoof, and the entire process was smooth and stress-free.

Firstly, their team was incredibly professional and knowledgeable. My initial meeting was with Frank Price, who was friendly and responsive to all my questions regarding the project. He was flexible to meet with the insurance adjuster and ensured that the whole process proceeded smoothly.

We had such a great experience with SmartRoof from start to finish! It started with Donnie Ware who stopped by and offered to check our hail damage of our 20 year old roof. We had 2 bad hail storms and he was really on the ball. He worked well with our insurance agent and provided everything they needed for an immediate approval. Working with SmartRoof was a great experience start to finish. Andrew Killian, Sales Consultant, surveyed my entire roof for wind and hail damage, marked and photographed all compromised areas, and fully explained the insurance claims process. He returned 2 more times with other roofing experts to further survey a cedar shake roofed gazebo and other sections of the main roof. He later walked over the entire roof with my insurance adjuster. When insurance failed to acknowledge proper dimensions and certain specialized roofing features, SmartRoof went to bat and was able to compel the insurance company to increase the claim settlement by 20%. Vernon Carfine, Project Meeting Representative, reviewed all details of my new roofing system, materials choices, upgrades and other special requests I had, which were incorporated into the contract. Emmanuel Odagbodo, Field Supervisor, was onsite before, during and after the roofing installation. He did an excellent job to immediately rectify the few issues that arose. Emmanuel liaised expertly between the subcontractors, other Smartroof personnel and myself to ensure the entire job was completed to my satisfaction.

Nathan Jerge and the team at SmartRoof were so wonderful to work with. We had hail damage and shingles no longer on the market. They worked with our insurance company to get a full roof replacement, and we chose to re-do the gutters with a larger size and covers. Nate was always in touch, making sure to answer so many questions along the way. The whole crew was fantastic, and now we have a beautiful new roof. This review is for the replacement of the skylights and not the shingles replacement.

They sold us 2 skylight replacement and did only half the work. Apparently, it was in the fine print that they are not responsible for any "interior" work or damages caused by the replacement of the skylight. What the heck does replacement mean if they're only going to complete part of the work?

I will never use these guys again and will post this on our neighborhood newsletter informing neighbors to watch out for the partial replacement of sky lights and their lack of care when it comes repairing damages they cause.

SmartRoof personnel worked with my insurance to replace my roof and worked with GAF to install my solar panels and they did a great job! I especially want to thank Lucas W. and Donte R. in SmartRoof and Kurt I. in GAF. I do recommend SmartRoof for roofing and GAF for solar panel installation.

The SmartRoof team handled all the details of working with my insurance company to get the hail damage to my roof fully covered. They accommodated to our schedule requirements and installation was completed in two days. The installation team was amazing. they worked together as a well drilled unit. I can find no fault with their work, the results speak for themselves. The cleanup process was well and completely done, with multiple sweeps for nails. Every thing is satisfactory, except that the unused materials have not yet been removed by the supplier.

When our insurance provider initially denied coverage, their adjuster proposed a lowball offer, seemingly motivated by a desire to minimize costs for the company. As claimants unfamiliar with the intricacies of negotiating such claims, Mr. Valencia's unwavering persistence and effective negotiation skills played a crucial role.

Smart Roof was a great experience. We worked with Donald Ware when the roof was found to be damaged and he ensured the insurance company found the damage. Jeremy Syverson worked out the quote and walked me throught the installation process. I would recommend SmartRoof as I had a great experience with SmartRoog.

SmartRoof got our insurance company to cover the hail damage to our 19 year old roof when other companies failed to deliver. Every aspect of the job was well planned out and we felt very comfortable having them lead the way. The job was completed in time and looks great. No damage to my screens, bushes, or exterior. Out of the possible 30,000 nails that come off an old roof, I found only 2 around my yard. The workmanship was excellent and I appreciate the care they took to clean up. Our onsite supervisor, Jairo was excellent and kept me informed. David, who did the initial inspection was top notch and documented damage missed by the insurance inspector ensuring the maximum payout from the insurance company. I would highly recommend this company for a pain free experience.

I'd like to update my review below, even though Smart roof did a great job on my roof, they installed the incorrect air vent for my dryer. My fiance' has reached out to them about this to get it fixed several times and they have not been responsive at all. As much money as we paid for this roof, this should not be an issue.

Shoutout to JJ, Jon, Thomas and the wonderful roofing crew that just put a beautiful new roof on our townhouse! They also did a wonderful job putting in new window screens, gutters, downspouts and painting our bedroom ceiling! We have been so happy!!
