SmartRoof - Roofing and Solar - Parsippany, NJ

This company is a disaster. Wouldn't be surprised if they went out of business. We signed a contract for a new roof and solar panels in February 2024. The project is still not finished. We financed through the company as well (big mistake). They paid themselves before the project was even finished and I had a finance company harassing me before everything was even done. I started making payments after the solar panels were installed after Christmas 2024, but they are still not connected and up and running. They keep blaming other parties for the hold up, like the utility company, but it's them that can't get things done. Everyone that works at SMARTROOOF passes the buck and doesn't seem to communicate with colleagues. Now I am paying for panels AND electricity. DO NOT USE SMARTROOOF.

I am 100% satisfied with the roof replacement. BIG thanks to the sales rep. Michael Berstler who put so much effort to inspect my roof and the project designer who went me through all the details. Also Sulaiman and Jacob for timely organizing work.The front and back yards were left clean.

From the initial quote and all throughout the entire process, Jason, Sulaiman and the rest of the team were there to answer every question and walk me through every step. If you called any of them they answered their phones happy to help.

They worked with my budget and insurance company to make the process as easy as possible and the work was outstanding. They even made some repairs that were not in the project quote at no cost just to make sure everything came out perfect - which it did.

Just recently had the roof done on our house since it was basically falling apart and our family could absolutely not be happier with not just the results but the process as a whole working with Smart Roof. From day 1 you could tell they really care about their customers and giving them the best customizable results possible. The whole team, from contractors to supervisors and especially the ones installing the shingles were so professional, worked so hard, and you can just tell how experienced they are. They all worked as a team and answered every single question or concern we had regarding the roof install. No matter the time of day or how small the question, Sulaiman was there to help. I am very happy to have worked with Smart Roof. Nick was the agent that contacted me and explained the process. From the beginning he was honest and clear about the process, he dealt with the insurance to cover all the costs, and the end results were amazing.
When the team arrived to do the work, they were diligent and timely. The job took only two days to be completed despite the cold weather and winds. Smart Roof agents were there to monitor the work from beginning to end, and maintained communication with me at all times.

Beware! Terrible after-service. There are certainly some good things about SmartRoof, but after-service is not one of them. The job remains incomplete over a year after. When they installed the roof, they took out a blind to a ceiling window. But when they finished, they forgot to replace it and threw it away. Their replacement blind did not fit the window, and they still haven't installed the blind. We've made repeated enquiries with the responsible SmartRoof person, but he only promises action and never comes through. In addition, we filed a warranty claim because of a leak but haven't heard back. They really make you chase them to get these things down.

SmartRoof is such a fantastic company! From start to finish these guys are wonderful! I truly have had an amazing experience with them. We had wind and hail damage on our roof and they did all of the leg work with working with our insurance company and they made it so easy! Miguel Ribeiro, Sulaiman Sesay and Pete Maloupis are all professionals and will bend over backwards for you. Excellent team work all around! I would use Smartroof again and again as well as recommend them to everybody!!

I had my roof done just recently and it came out really nice. Very happy with the outcome. The workers were professional, courteous and worked very hard. The turnaround time was also quick. The roof was done in two days. Overall, the experience was smooth. Sulaiman was very communicative and assisted with any and all inquiries promptly.

I enjoyed working with SmartRoof to get my new roof installed in North Caldwell. They were very professional and the project manager, Sulaiman, was great. The rest of the team was great as well.

Smartroof helped me get a new roof due to hail damage and they helped me during each step of the process including dealing with my homeowners insurance to get my claims and depreciation payments. David was great at explaining the insurance claims and the technical roof specifications and options, and Suleiman was terrific at managing the project and making sure the roof has been installed well. Although it took longer than the one day that was claimed, my existing roof was torn off and replaced in 2 days. In the end it only cost me 1k more than my insurance deductible to get a new roof even though I also paid extra for every upgrade.

They came in and finished a huge job faster than anyone else could have done it. Got us the absolute best price and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. The cleanup was wonderful as these jobs usually make a mess….but the workers left it spotless. Thanks again guys!

Tom came to do an analysis of my roof to see if it qualified for the replacement program covered by insurance. Very impressed by his honesty. Not trying to push something that would cost me. Would definitely use them if the opportunity arises.

We worked with Miguel Ribeiro and Elijah Jones to report the hail damage to my insurance company, walk the adjuster through the damage, get my claim fully approved, and then finally install our new roof.

The crew started demoing the old roof on a Tuesday morning and were done before mid-day on Wednesday. The entire crew was very professional and took great care to ensure they didn't allow debris from the roof to damage any of our property or landscaping, which seems difficult in retrospect.

This company is one of those that keeps trying to go door to door and solicit sales. In Cherry Hill, a permit is required to do this. I have had 2 different people come by on 3 different occasions.

The first 2 times, it was the same person. I told him we weren't interested the first time, and asked for the permit. He said he didn't have one. I advised him to leave or I would call it into the township. The second time, he tried to play it "I don't remember what you said last time." I again asked for a permit, and he was unable to provide it.

Tonight, a second man showed up and claimed to be the boss. He said he was trying to do me a huge favor and get my roof and siding covered. I declined, and asked for the permit. Again, he didn't have one. He then proceeded to say "Yeah, the guy who was out the last couple of times told me not to come, but I didn't want you to miss out on such a deal"

If they can't follow simple directions to get a permit for going door-to-door, do you trust them with an investment like your house?

the work was completed timely and well done but there were some issues that needed to be addressed. but these issues were addressed competenly and timely by the Jeffrey Barnett, who came over multiple times and made sure all of my concerns were taken care of. so ultimately i am very satisfied with my new roof replacement.

Service is great. Elai, Manuel and all other people with whom I interacted with are very responsive, energetic and curteous.

We had several delays due to weather. The work was performed with good quality and hard work in a timely fashion. Excellent clean up was done by the crew. We had a hard working crew. I would recommend this company to do a roof replacement.

Smartroof was able to replace our roof damaged from weather easily and affordably. They did the installation in a day and now we have a great quality roof that fit our budget.

Smart Roof replaced my roof last year. They did the work on time and at the price they quoted. I live in Burlington N.J. and we have had severe storms since last year. No leaks no problems. I would recommend them to anyone who wants the job done RIGHT and ON TIME.

The roofing crew arrived on time completed their work and cleaned up. No concerns or problems with their work.
The siding crew also arrived on time, completed their work and cleaned up upon completion. The siding crew were able to properly trim back and seal the siding around our gas fireplace vent. They were responsive to my concern of using the high heat resistance caulk as required by manufacturer.

They did a great job of replacing the roof. I would also like to bring up an episode to show their willingness to help. Largely due to the hammering during the installation, a couple of old downspouts became loose and one actually fell a few days later. Although it might be argued that it was not part of the contract, after I contacted the sales rep Peter and explained the situation to him, he agreed to send somebody over to secure the downspouts. I applaud their responsible manner and willingness to help.

Have 50 years old house that has not been touched up. Smart roof did an outstanding job with the siding and I am very impressed. Work ethic was great and the people were friendly and timely. Would definitely recommend.
