I would give ZERO stars if possible. From purchasing my 2018 Subaru Outback to service, my experience has been utterly horrible. So bad that I literally have trauma from the stress this dealership has caused me. My Subaru, which is supposed to last a lifetime so they claim and is a mere 6 years old at the time of this review, has had to have the engine block replaced in 2023 due to excessive oil consumption and other reasons which I’ll explain. I spent 6 months of my life going up to that service department to have oil consumption tests done. Apparently the car has to fail a certain number of times before Scenic Subaru will request an engine replacement from the warranty company. On the next test visit, they changed my oil and stripped the oil pan cap thingy. Without going into too much detail (but would be happy to explain further to anyone wanting the full story) I drove the car about 20-30 miles with NO OIL IN IT. After this, they FINALLY decided they would ask the warranty company to replace the engine. But I was never told whether they approved the claim even though I specifically asked to be notified by the service manager, Jeremey, who I had been painstakingly working with during this debacle. I waited around for 1 MONTH, expecting to hear back from Jeremey on a final verdict. I ended up going up there myself because come on, an entire month with no communication, and magically my car is ready to go home the day I show up. When I asked Jeremey why I wasn’t notified of the status of the claim and my car, he quickly threw his technician, Chris, under the bus saying he was supposed to call me to let me know. So sorry Chris, that must sting. Well Jeremey, the customer asked you to specifically stay in communication so yet another ball dropped. Oh yeah, let’s rewind a couple of years from this point real quick before continuing my recollection of this painful trek with Scenic Subaru. I paid them for new wipers to be installed and their “renowned and dealership quality” service department put on the wrong size and left the cover on one so that it scrapped across my windshield during the next rainstorm. Who knew you needed to test out a windshield wiper replacement to ensure it’s done correctly, especially at a dealership? Well, answer is folks, you do at Scenic Subaru! Now let’s fast forward to present day. I’ve been taking my car to another service provider because of the complete lack in trust I have for this dealership. Long story short, my CVH axle is faulty and needs replacing. Good news, my lifetime warranty covers axle replacement, bad news, I’ve got to deal with Jeremey and his service department again. Ok fine. I take it up there for them to look at it. I get a call saying the axle has been replaced and there is a $100 deductible because “you’ve used your warranty too much”. WOW. Just wow… I know it’s just $100 but it’s also the principle of the matter. This car has issues that she was born with and the issues are covered by said warranty. So why is it, how is it right, that I have to come out of pocket for this? So you ask, Cori, how come you didn’t mention paying for this deductible when you had the engine replaced. Well, dear reader, apparently the first time I used the warranty, they waived the fee (although when I ask for proof of this because no one mentioned they were “helping me out” in this way before, they cannot provide that and say they just didn’t charge me). But I just paid the $100 because they are refusing to “waive” it again and they say they won’t give me my car back unless I pay it. And as Jeremey pointed out (most UN-apologetically I most definitely will mention, gotta work on those customer service skills dude) this disclaimer is in the fine print of the contract I signed. My advice to you, potential Scenic Subaru purchaser, run. Run to Winston and buy from Flow Subaru. Run to Timbuktu if you really gotta have a Subaru. But don’t buy or get your Subaru serviced here. I promise, and would bet another $100, you’ll regret it. Thanks for listening, it helps me heal from the trauma.
