I called Mr Lujan and explained we'd like an estimate on some stucco repair on a fence. He came out as promised on March 12th. He said he would email the estimate the next day. He didn't, and we haven't had any contact since. Maybe the job was too small, but he knew what it was before he came out. You never know what one job might lead to. A friend is getting an entire home re-stuccoed. He obviously won't call Frank Lujan. I'm not sure why he bothered to come out. What a waste of his time and mine

Lujan and sons construction gave us the best quote for whole house stucco work. We were given detail explanation of the scope of work timeline to fix the issue. They match the color perfectly. Came on schedule time frame did a very professional job. Daily cleaned the site. On final day put everything thing back like before cleaned site. One of the best contractors to work with in New Mexico. I highly recommend them. Will be calling them for other projects in the meet future plaster finish on Kiva and house stucco beautiful finish

They just re-stucco my whole house and painted the rest of it. Both my wife and I are very happy with the results. Frank was great with all our questions and concerns. He really gave the personal touch to make the changes to the house as smooth as possible. We would recommend them.

This company was outstanding all the way through. We got just the stucco color we were after and it transformed the look of the house. The team was efficient, hard working, and clearly very experienced. They removed and replaced exterior light fixtures, and even though a re-stucco is a messy task, they did a great job of cleaning up after the work was complete. I would not hesitate to recommend Lujan & Sons for any project!

My wife and I hired Lujan and Sons Construction this summer to re-stucco our 25 year-old home. Frank and his team did an excellent job from start to finish. Frank set expectations properly and communicated appropriately throughout the project. His crew paid great attention to detail and was very responsive. Lujan and Sons was recommended and used by someone I know who does a lot of research before chosing a contractor. I had them raise a wall, restucco my home and outside walls. They did not disappoint. The team of workers worked well and very hard. They were so professional and respectful. Upon completion, they left everything clean and orderly. Frank is a gem, so professional and responsive. I wish I could give these guys a better review, but the fact of the matter is, they didn't finish the job and they have been ditching my phone calls. Lujan and sons did nice work but a window was broken in the process and they have yet to replace it. I've called them several times, some times they answer, some times they don't. When they do answer, it is the exact same story. Junior will get with Frank and they will call me back. But that never happens and it has been over three months. I cannot recommend a service that have no regard in finishing a job. With all the other options available out there, I would look elsewhere if I were you.

Lujan & Sons did an excellent job stuccoing my home! The men who came out were all very professional. I liked how they covered up the windows, vents, and doors! It was all done in a timely manner. I have gotten a lot of compliments on my house! Thank you Lujan & Sons!

Decent work, but very difficult to communicate with. Either wouldn’t respond to phone calls, or would send people without calling ahead. The guy was sent sooner than expected, which was great, but showed up at 7am without warning, and little English. He did a fine job, but left a mess, and it took days to get in touch with L&S and have them send the guy back to clean up. Who, again, showed up without any warning. There were some other communication quirks, but I’ll leave it here. Again, got the job done, just could have been way easier.

The stucco work was beautiful, new stucco and updated texture. The team worked efficiently together and were pleasant when I was observing.

NOT RECOMMENDED! This is by far my worst contractor experience. I was left completely in the dark on project start dates, delays, return and finish dates, and special order updates. I grew extremely frustrated, and was eventually forced to conclude Lujan & Sons Constr. (LSC) has no concern for customer satisfaction.

LSC was contracted for a tar/gravel re-roof and parapet repair.

Here is just a PARTIAL list of what I experienced, and what should be considered red flags for potential new customers.

- HSC failed to pull a permit, as required by the city. I checked with the city the day after the job was finished, and again 1 week later. JSC even cashed my final payment BEFORE I forced them to pull a permit with a series of documented text messages.

- 2 delays on my re-roof project start date without any advance notification (once, they called THAT morning).

- I had to spend 45 minutes every evening cleaning up after the roofers around the entire perimeter of my home. The debris included roof gravel with sticky tar, which forced me to wear shoes covers. I soon discovered they swept roof gravel into my decorative rock and flower gardens.

- In one instance during my evening clean up, the roofers left several large pieces of lumber next to my driveway, which protruded 8-9 inches into the sidewalk. Very dangerous, and another city ordinance violation. I was forced to move them myself.

- Without my permission, they used MY waterhoses, pushbroom and even my A-frame ladder (to hang plastic over the windows). Talk about a major contractor NO-NO!! For liability reasons, I NEVER would have allowed them to use my A-frame ladder!

- They double-kinked my water hose in the frontyard to "turn off the water", and once left the water running for hours until I turned it off.

- They threw trash in my recycle bin, which included a beer bottle wrapped in aluminum foil.

- HSC asked for a progress payment, which was NOT in the terms of the agreement; I refused.

- I never once received a phone call asking if I was satisfied with the work, with the work crew, with their daily clean up, if they were on time in the morning, if they worked a full day, if I had any concerned or complaints that needed to be addressed, etc. Not once.

To put my review in perspective, I have been a homeowner for 30 years; this is not my first experience with contractors, both good and bad. I believe this makes me more than qualified to provide potential customers an objective review based on facts, many of which are documented with photos and text messages.

Lastly, HSC has given me NO reason to believe I was provided a high quality roof and parapet repair that will last 20+ years. They showed no concern in my immediate satisfaction, so why should I believe they are interested in my satisfaction 15 or 20 years down the road!?

I would strongly advise against using this company!!

Professional dependable clean and by clean I mean they do great professional work! I recommend them to every one I know who needs stucco!

Update: 2/23/20 Connected with Frank following original post. He acknowledged the situation and sent people over the next day. Upgrading to 4 stars (not 5 only due to worry about whether this will hold up). But customer service is great (once you get a hold of Frank) and fixed the issue. I would use them again--but keep Frank's cell on file.

Original post Monday 10/19/20: Color coat failing at 2.5 years and warranty work not done--it's getting worse.

First--a great experience during quote and install on $30k stucco job 5/22/17.

Then noticed parapet color failing Aug 2019 (first photo taken from above); called for warranty work 4/20/20. Frank came out 4/23/20, saw damage, said he'd send someone out in a couple weeks. Trusted them--but nobody ever came out. Installing blinds--noticed color continuing to fail (second and third photos). Called again 11:30 9/29 left message. Again no response.

We had our house re-stuccoed by Lujan and Sons construction and it came out beautiful. We couldn't have chosen a better company. They were all very professional and knew what they were doing. Frank explained everything they were going to do from start to finish. The entire process was very easy.
Frank and all of his employees are so friendly and professional. Really like the fact that this is family owned and local. Will definately recommend them.

Lujan and Sons were referred to us by our realtor who has worked in Albuquerque for forty years. She said Lujan and Sons were the ONLY stucco company she recommends. And I understand why. Frank was extremely professional, polite and responsive. The price was fair, the quality was outstanding and the workers were efficient and clearly very experienced. I would HIGHLY recommend Lujan and Sons for stucco work. We also had window replaced that was affordable and done very well.

Had a stucco job on a shed/garage that had been abandoned by a another contractor. Frank was very professional, was upfront about what he could and couldn't guarantee about the job (explaining what failures would be from their work and what would have been from the other contractor's work) and gave a very reasonable quote. Job was completed on time and three months on it's looking great!

Lujan and Sons completed a very large re-stucco on a large 3 story apartment community. Their bid was very competitive, they did a beautiful job on our building. They did minimal damage to our landscaping considering the size of the job. Their crew was always respectful and professional. We love the way the building looks! Thank you

One of the best experiences we've had with any construction company. Received a very competitive quote from Frank last October to stucco our home. It was 40 years old and very much needed to be done. Due to delays on our end because of other work being done on the house, they were not able to do the job until May. Frank stayed in touch and honored the quote, even though it was more than seven months old. The end result came out beautiful. Exterior of our home has never looked so good. Giving five stars because six is not an option. Highly recommend Lujan and Sons.

They completed my stucco job on my two story house in a timely manner. Clean up was good.
The texture was not the one that was agreed on. Other then that they did a good job.

I used Lujan and Sons to put on a new tar and gravel roof and a full restucco as well as small repair of a ceiling. It was convenient that they did all phases of the work particularly since there is overlap between these jobs at the top of the parapets. They also worked around my gas and AC lines rather than insisting they be temporarily removed. I am happy with the results so far and we have had several heavy rains.

The only reason I didn't give five stars is because of issues with getting hold of them and they keeping appointments. The quote was just under other roofers but they actually quoted an upgrade to my roof, were the other roofer quoted replacement. The workers where fantastic, very quick, very thorough, great clean up job, very professional.

We re-stuccoed our entire house. We had traditional stucco that has been cracking and peeling off for years. Frank and his crew re-stuccoed our house with a synthetic stucco. The whole re-stucco process took about 6 months. We met with Frank to get an estimate and discuss our options. The price that he quoted us was the same as the few others that we had obtained. It took us a long time to decide to go forward with the project. Throughout the whole time, Frank and his office staff were responsive and promptly got back to us to answer our questions. The work itself took about 4 weeks and his entire crew worked hard. They were punctual and professional. They cleaned up after each day of work and came back to do a walk through and fixed small problems after we had paid the full amount. We would definitely recommend them and would hire them again.

Frank, his brothers, and the team of laborers did a great job re-stuccoing our home. They were attentive to special requests, persevered thru rainy weather, and did a complicated job for a fair price. Cleanup was good, always available for questions. Highly recommend.

Lujan and Sons restuccoed my house in the summer of 2015. I had a half-dozen estimates prior to choosing Lujan. As with all but one contractor, Frank Lujan provided a quote for the work on the day he came out. On two occasions after this visit, I called Frank with questions. The first time was on a Friday and was told that he had taken the day off. I left my number for him to call on Monday, however Frank returned my call later that same day. He then called back on Saturday with the response to my question. The second time I called with a question I caught Frank in the morning. This time he called back later that afternoon with the answer. Lujan’s quote for the job was right in the middle of the others however, more than the quote; I chose Lujan and Sons because of Frank’s responsiveness coupled with his straight-forward responses and discussions of the needed work.
Frank’s brother Gerald supervised the work and the entire crew was Lujan employees. They used top grade materials – Sto – and when the job was complete, the house looked better than it did when new. It has only been two years, but the house still looks great and I have full confidence that the stucco will outlast the 10-year labor and materials warranty.
I highly recommend Lujan and Sons Construction.

This is one of the worst contractors in the state. They will go to your house to do a estimate. Then they will never send the estimate to you like promised. When you call to request the estimate they will lie to you and say that it will be sent over. After it is never sent again you can call and a person named JR will tell you that you can call another contractor if you do not enjoy waiting for well over 3 weeks for a simple estimate. So now that is what I did. My insurance paid a different company $14,500 to repair my roof. I guess these Lunan sons have too much money so they turn away paying customers. Would not recommend this company to my worst enemy.

Have had poor experience with this company. They came out to give estimates but never called back or returned any of my calls. The owner was right they have never done work for me , and never will ! I will tell family and friends about the experience I had and not recommend them.

My little house was in dire straits. I have lived here for over 25 years and have done lots of work on the inside. The outside was in desperate need of repair as well as the roof. I did some research and kept coming up with Lujan and Sons. From the minute I met them to the minute the project was complete, I have nothing bad or negative to report. I was treated with respect. I asked questions, they answered. I went looking around, they welcomed me. In my eyes, they went above and beyond. I will highly recommend Lujan and Sons to anyone needing any type of roof/stucco repair. This is one happy customer!!!
