Does not honor their agreements. Pushy, manipulative sales tactics.
Gave a door-to-door rep my info to arrange a 30 minute meeting with their salesmen for a free quote. I was told it would not exceed 30 minutes unless I decided to buy windows.
I met with salesmen Zach and Vlad to get an estimate on having the windows of my house replaced.
The salesmen measured every window in the house, and recorded it on a clipboard. I then sat through a 3.5 hour presentation on the DaBella company, their window products, how my current windows were old and compromised, and how their windows would solve all of that by reducing energy waste.
During this, I was prompted on questions such as what I looked for in a roofing company, what window products I liked, what colors, and what style of windows. The salesman would not proceed until they'd recorded a response.
After the presentation, before being provided the free estimate the salesmen asked what down payment I could afford. I told him I was unwilling to provide such information, and asked they provide an estimate before financing, if any, was discussed.
I was provided an estimate of $38511 to replace 13 windows (6 hoppers, 4 small bedroom windows, 1 large living room window, and a small bathroom window) with their top of the line DP windows, $29333 of their midrange DP, and $21182 for their single pane option.
I asked they do an estimate for 6 windows, the single 5 basement hoppers and 1 large living room window. They quoted $9613 at the low level single pane option.
I thanked them for the quote and said that's all I needed. They then called their manager, came back and said the manager approved to do it for $8651 if I signed a contract now. I stated I just wanted the quote, and wasn't prepared to move forward.
They then offered to add a flex option to the installation time, which would allow me a better price, called their manager, and said they'd approved to do $7691 with this option. I stated I just wanted the quote, and wasn't prepared to move forward.
They next offered to offset their marketing costs by having me tell three people about DaBella, put a sign in my yard for 3 months, and leave a good review (in their contract they also ask to use my house and self likeness in their marketing). They called their manager, and said they'd approved to do $7018 with this option. I stated I just wanted the quote, and wasn't prepared to move forward.
Vlad said I would miss out on a great deal, and they wouldn't honor the price unless I signed right now. I showed Vlad and Zach the door.
5-minutes later, they knocked on my door. They told me they'd talked to their manager, who agreed to do it with all of the prior options for $5768. I said ok, and agreed to have the windows replaced.
I signed the contract for the price and scope of work, and they did a hard credit pull to secure financing for 9.99% APR (I have excellent credit). In the contract, it states you may only receive a 9.99% rate if you use auto-pay. Otherwise it is 10.99%. In addition, I provided them a check for $1000 as a down payment.
Two months later a DaBella rep comes out to take final measurements of the windows.
A month after this, I am contacted by Philip (Zach and Vlad's manager), who said "mistakes were made", and due to "issues with demolition", and other things in the installation of the windows in my 1960's home, they would not honor the agreed price. Philip's only available action was to cancel the contract, unless I would pay $10000.
I told them $10000 was too much.
Invasive, manipulative, pushy, and do not honor their agreements. A complete waste of time.
I will never do business with DaBella again.
