Busy Beaver - Fairmont, WV

I am updating my review of this establishment. Today I went and bought some perennials and shrubs. I expected to pay well over $200 for what I had picked out which was just a small bit of trees and one shrub.

The bill was half that. The prices were knocked in half, I saw a buy one get one free for a bag of two cubic foot in ground soil, and ended up going back and getting a lot more.

It looks like Busy Beaver can easily out compete Lowe's and Home Depot when it comes to price for plants at least. I believe they have also beaten Walmart, which is hard to do.

This is otherwise a fairly small to medium size hardware store. It's difficult to find knowledgeable hardware or tradesman to populate the employees of these stores, but the folks there are knowledgeable enough and extremely kind. I like that they give veterans discounts and I like that they give extra discounts every time you spend $100.

They are right in the middle of Fairmont and that's right where they need to be. I will be returning. Nicely done!

Lorna was the absolute best employee I have ever encountered at Busy Beaver. She made my whole week better. Super customer service!

Donna is great associate, always smiling and always very helpful. It's nice to see a consistent face. Also glad to have Busy Beaver in my neighborhood, very convenient!

I absolutely love Darla in the paints. She is very attentive and is very personable. And always has a smile on her face! Whenever I can I go to Busy Beaver for paint I do!

Great local hardware store. As in most places the people are who make it so great!

Their customer service is second to none. Donna, one of the cashiers, helped me tremendously while I was having a rough time finding the items I was needing.

My absolute favorite store. Amazing selection of merchandise. As a do it yourself home owner I’d say it’s probably the only store I’d ever need. Also every one of the good folks that work there are just wonderful friendly, helpful and genuine can’t say enough about this store and it’s staff

I went to Busy Beaver today and the cashier named Darla was awesome. She was so helpful, friendly, and I enjoy talking to cashiers who smile and are friendly.

I use to like this place until I got charged for an 1/8th sheet of lauan and magically the computer charged me for a 1/4 sheet of lauan then when I complained about it I had to explain to the 3 braindead employees that dont ever help you on the phone and are completely oblivious to construction terms. Hopefully this day company gets some employees with common sense

The ladies that assisted me were super nice, one really knew her stuff and helped me out big time. The place looks great and ordering online for pick up is easy. Also got a great deal on off the deal of the day on the website.

Ordered window replacement panel in August. After weeks of calling for updates finally got a delivery of 10/14. Called 10/15 to see if it had arrived and I was told the manager was out and they couldn’t tell me, they went on to say manager wouldn’t be back in until Monday. I asked if there was anyone else that could help me and they said no. I asked if they could call someone since it is supposed to be lows in the 40s and still no. So I said basically I’m SOL and the response was yea I guess so. The reason I gave them 2 stars was because I didn’t have to deal with this on the original order of the windows. That’s another story - ordered new construction windows and they put it in as replacement windows. They did make it right but was a delay for sure. Very irritating that no one can just tell you if an item you ordered and have been waiting on for 7 weeks is in so you can pick it up. Also got all my toilets, fixtures, T1-11 and several other items from them trying to support a local business. I’m sad to say will be going elsewhere going forward. Not that one person matters to them but did by several trailer loads of stuff off them since they have opened. ** ordering process was great - follow up service and ease of getting items is very subpar. I can’t say if it is the right window or not because that’s delayed until Monday I guess.**

A few things are out of stock and a bit pricey compared to Ace but quicker to get to and open later.

Second time at the Fairmont WV story. The deals and quality of flooring and the very helpful staff! They are knowledgeable and knew exactly what I was looking. I will be back for sure.

They have a good selection of hardware and lumber, plus also have clothes, lawn and garden supplies and many other things. Good prices too. Check them out!

Busy beaver is great for many reasons but their drill bits, saw blades and hand tools are pretty much junk... that is if you can even find them in stock. Also, their paint and pretty much every liquid they sell in a container has either sat too long or been frozen while in storage. Total garbage but I still go there for many things..

Good place to get what you need for DIY projects but Limited supply and some items are a little pricey.

Very slow, the woman was rude saying we are lying about a price when they sign above it was 3.99 she almost charged us 13.00 for wood, then we waited 18 minutes just to get ply wood that was on sell they helped a customer that was only waiting a minute before us. Very disappointed and upset no one is really in the store doing their job.

Great customer service. Isaac and Jacob deserve credit here. Willing to work to get the sell and keep the customer.

I am sad to leave this review. I love supporting smaller stores and things that help keep the community strong. However, we have come to this store over 50 times in the last 3 months while renovating our house. There were many times that the staff wasn’t overly helpful- but we came and got what was needed. However - this week was my last straw and I am now willing to drive an additional 30 min (1 hour round trip) to not continue to support/ use this business. This week they were out of crown molding - and we didn’t want to shift mid project so I asked to please either order or to let me know the next truck. They said it would be Thursday or Friday but to call before. I called today and stayed on hold for a long time....but I was ok with that because I had asked if she could verify that it was there (computer said 16 in stock). After being on hold they came back (different person) and assured me they were there. I asked again- I know the computer shows it but the other person was going to make sure it had come in - I’ll keep holding until she gets back. The person said there was no needand that she was answering for her that there were intact 16z I asked if she could hold 8 for me and that I would be there in an hour. She said she couldn’t but assured it would be fine. So obviously.. when we got there- there was none. I asked the men that were in sales and their response was “can’t help what comes in On the truck” I explained the full exchange and he said “nothing I can do about it - I tell the girls all the time to verify”. I explained that I did in fact verify and he said “well there is the pallet that came in - you can look and see” ... I went on to explain that I was upset because it wasn’t an error of “on the truck” that I was upset about. He just shrugged then said - we would have called you back but we didn’t have your number. (Then I was really confused because that meant he had already known of the issue) so I asked “them did you order any oraee if there was a solution or at least an answer of when I can get it? He said “no- guess we can try if you want or just call the next time a truck comes in” ....I then asked if I could please speak to the manager and he smirked and said “yep that’s me” so then I asked if I could talk to the regional manager or the owner and he laughed and said “sure you can try”.... so. Now I am stuck and can’t move forward.
