I have been chasing down the source of a leak for two years now with each guess wrong. Storm after storm, I was worn down. My home insurance put me in touch with American Leak Detection. Brian arrived before the service window and immediately went to work on identifying the source of my leak. He was attentive and took my failed identification attempts into consideration. He had specialized James Bond-esque equipment that showed us a very likely avenue of water intrusion. The findings detailed in a thorough report that I was able to provide to contractors so that they were informed. If you have a mystery leak that's driving you crazy and are tired of losing sleep during rainstorms like I am, you have to give this company a go!

We knew we had a leak but given that we've gotten plumbing estimates between 4k and 19k depending on the complexity of the job we wanted to have an idea of what we'd be up against. Originally, our neighbor thought the leak was his and used ALD so we called on his recommendation.

Making the appointment was really easy. They called the day before to confirm and our technician Danny H. called before arriving.

We told him where we suspected (hoped) the leak was. Because it's a water service line leak somewhere between the meter and wall of our house we were concerned about our foundation. He pulled out his equipment and got to work. He checked inside, outside and around the neighboring condos as well. He was really thorough and was actually able to show us the exact location. When he pushed air through the line the ground started bubbling where it was. He marked off the area and that was that. Pretty easy and painless process.

Fortunately it's good news. They also offer repair services which might be worth it since they have the exact location. At least having a clear idea of the leak gives you a starting point, and hopefully it's better than you were expecting.

I do NOT recommend this company. A leak was detected in my pool, and I was told to contact the company for a quote to fix it. More than 1 week later and multiple calls, I still do not have a quote. Every time I called, Stacy or whatever her name was "away from her desk" and that I need to call back. Look elsewhere as this company obviously doesn't want to help you once you pay for the leak service.

Danny from American Leak Detection tested all areas of my pool to find out what is leaking. He is very thorough, and explained everything to me as he went through the process. I had a lot of questions, and he was extremely patient with me and explained things in a way that someone with no knowledge of the process could understand. I highly recommend American Leak Detection, and specifically Danny, as he was a pleasure to work with!

I had a leak in my pool noted shortly after opening it this spring. I called my pool guy and he recommended calling a leak detection company. He gave me 2 names and I called both, one of which was American Leak Detection, and left messages. The first company never called me back, but I was contacted within a few minutes by Wendy McIntosh of American Leak Detection on Key Hwy in Baltimore. She was able to get me on the schedule about a week later (my pool guy said it would probably take a month to get someone to come out). Wendy couldn’t have been more pleasant to deal with. Danny Hernandez came out to do the detection work. He was there about 2 hours, carefully checked all of the pump equipment, skimmer, light, jet and return lines and eventually found a leak in one of the jet lines. He then clearly marked the leak. American Leak Detection also does repairs and so I scheduled Danny to come out the following week to fix the leak. The repairs are guaranteed for 1 year and they repeat the leak detection for free once the work is completed. I couldn’t be happier with the service I have received so far from both Wendy and Danny. I’ll post another review once the repair is completed.

I had the pleasure of dealing with Leak Detection Specialist Kenny Sanni-ojikutu.
Kenny was personable, well spoken, and easy to understand. He performed the inspection in a timely manner, asked questions relevant to the job, and inspected potential sources of damage.
When Kenny gave me the paperwork authorizing the inspection, clearly told me what the document was for, and where to sign. At the end of the inspection Kenny, told me what he saw, sent me the photos taken during the inspection, and answered all follow-on questions.
Kenny is clearly confident in his work and so am I. In the event that I again need the services of American Leak Detection, I would absolutely request Kenny by name.

Shawn was on time and found the leak very quickly while being personable and professional. He made a lifetime customer out of me.
A big reason I went with the company is because they are there to find the leak, not repair it. There is no chance of them upselling you or pressuring you into a big project.

The first thing is that Danny gave me a courtesy call 30 minutes before his scheduled arrival time to let me know exactly when he would arrive at my home. When he arrived, he identified himself and placed the protective coverings on his shoes before entering my home. 70-year-old home on a corner lot with water service line leak. Charles and Devon came out and quickly found where/how the lines ran—much of which is under the foundation of the house—and found the leak, which fortunately is not under the foundation. Brian K was prompt, professional, and solved the problem of our basement bathroom floor leak. He determined that the problem is not with pipes, but with the older, failed shower floor pan—which still looks great, but had become porous over 60 years. Between his experience and heat sensing equipment, he was able track water flow through weak spots in the floor of the shower. We are so grateful that our repairs will be limited to a shower and not to tearing out a basement floor to get at old pipes. Thank you, Brian.

This company is highly recommended, in particular the technician that came to our house, Mr. Brian K. After calling in 3 different plumbers (who couldn't identify the location of leak somewhere in the shower plumbing) we were referred to American Leak Detection by a company that specializes in water damage restoration. Should you request the services of Senior Technician Brian (as I recommend you do) you will be impressed by his competence and efficiency. The problem that had been plaguing us for 3 months was resolved by ALD in short order.

Brian and Danny specialists from American Leak Detection were brought in to find a toxic oder that recently took over our Potomac townhome, and forcing is to relocate. We had master plumbers and Certified Industrial Hygienists looking the problem, but none could figure out what is happening.

American Leak Detection came highly recommended from an existing commercial client. Brian and Danny came in to perform a smoke test and immediately identified the source, and other problems buried deep in the walls we would have never known about. I had water coming up thru my carpeting and called a well-known plumbing company to check it out. To say I was disappointed with their service is an understatement. I was pissed off that I had to pay them for doing nothing and telling me nothing except to suggest I let them cut up my rug and dry wall to see if they could "find" the leak. USAA contacted ALD of MD and they sent Brian Kirk and Danny Cruz. It took them all of 10 minutes to find the source of the leak which just happened to be exactly what this overpaid plumber said it was not. I'm glad he put it in writing so I can get a refund for their inept service. I've never dealt with ALD before, but if this is an example of their competence, experience, and professionalism, I'm putting them on speed dial. I am, and was very impressed with their service and would recommend them to anyone. If you have leaking issues and can't determine the source, save yourself some money and call them first before you trust a plumber. Don't get conned by them like they tried to do me. I valued their honesty regarding what I really needed to fix my leak. ALD of MD is the real deal. Call them FIRST!!!

My problem was pooling water in the backyard. We did not know where the water from coming from. We finally contact ALD and Brian Kirk came out, he accessed the problem, including taking a look at my irrigation. Upon locating the problem he did the repairs and after a couple of days the pooling water was dried up! Brian, was both pleasant and professional, and I would highly recommend ALD.

Senior Techician Brian Kirk and I'm guessing another junior technician (I forgot his name) along with him did a great assessment! Pictures were provided to me explaining the findings that were included in the official report. Both technicians were professional and pleasant and completed the assessment within a timely manner.

We had an outside water supply leak somewhere between the meter and the shut off valve in the bathroom where the supply comes up through the slab. We hired American leak detection to locate the leak since the supply line is plastic they used dowsing rods and quickly identified and marked where they believe the line is located. They Identified after much listening for a leak they determined that the leak is under the slab below where the line comes up in the wall to the shut off valve. Per the contract they had me sign they recommend that you use their plumber otherwise if the leak is not there then they need to come out and look at it and then they will recheck for the leak. Their plumber said he is not interested in the job. ( Maybe because they were skeptical that the leak was in that location.) A couple days after they were there when meeting with my plumber we saw that American leak detection marked the water line going directly over the septic tank about 18" from the septic clean out. I was skeptical that health department would let a water line run over top a septic tank. so I requested the septic records from the health department. The health records showed the line running in a completely different location than where American leak marked the line and listened for leaks. I sent the drawing to American leak and indicated that where they were listening is not where the line runs. The line runs through a sleeve which crosses the drain field to the septic then make a turn down to the road. Brian with American leak said he would come out for another $240 to listen where I say the line is located. I asked well what if the leek is along that alignment do I get to keep my $240 and he said no because he knows the leak is under the slab.
I had my plumber jack hammer out the slab and locate the pipe and everything was dry. We then went outside an dug up and located the sleeve. turns out the leak was just outside of the sleeve where the pipe made the sharp bend at the property line.
So as a result of his dog and pony show with the dowsing rod and his cocky attitude we had jack hammered up the slab in the house. then working with the plumber found the leak over 20 feet away from where he was listening. A service that does leak detection should at least have asked what the cleanout was for and should know it is highly unlikely that the waterline would run over top of a septic tank that is only 2 foot in the ground. Unfortunately for me it was a waste of $650 having them mark where they think the leak is then direct me and jack hammer out the slab in my house.

Such a great and thorough company. Charles and his associate were on time and went straight to work to find the leak in our pool. They were very pleasant and great people. They answered any questions we had and explained each part of the inspection. Thanks so much for finding the leak. We will definitely keep this company and refer our friends and neighbors.

I was very happy with the work Charles and his associate did at my home. They were very professional, courteous, and took care not to bring dirt into the house. They inspected all areas to determine where my leak was. He showed me pictures of the crack in my pipe. It was very difficult to see how extensive it was as the house is a split level. He made some suggestions, and I will follow up.

The technician found the problems quickly and I received a written report within a few days. I had plumbers that were unable to locate the leaks. I highly recommend American Leak Detection for locating leaks that would otherwise be overlooked.
