I called for a quote and made an appointment. A knowledgable gentleman came out, took a look, took some measurements and e-mailed me a quote shortly thereafter. Everything looked good so I said ok.
Appointment day arrives. An unmarked black box van shows up with two guys who don't speak a single word of English. They can't even tell me they're with Whatcom Roof and Gutter. They furnish the paperwork and after an awkward exchange they start working.
Three days later I had water flowing over the gutter and all over my front steps. I called and they sent someone out a few days later. That individual proceeded to tell me my house is sloped and my foundation will need to be adjusted to correct the problem. Why wasn't this identified during the quoting process? I don't know. I was offered fifty percent off to come out and fix the issue. I've since cut holes in the brand new gutters and added downspouts to alleviate the issue.
In summation, if you want some sketchy sub contractors showing up and doing a half assed job. Give these guys a call.

I reached out to this company by mistake when trying to reach the original Whatcom Gutter CO. This company response time was terrible, got an AI call center instead of a real person, and they lost the original quote. We had to reach out to them multiple times to get the situation resolved. Quoted us $1000 to replace a 10' section of gutter. PLEASE call Whatcom Gutter Company instead of this company. You will be much happier with their service and locally owned and operated!

Initially we scheduled with Whatcom Gutter back in June 2024. They then needed to reschedule our initial appointment. Two men came out on June 28th to clean moss off our roof. We sent Whatcom Gutter an email on August 4th asking how long does it take for moss to die off because we noticed moss still on our roof. On Aug 6th, Whatcom Gutter responded and said it would take 4-8 weeks “once the treatments are applied to kill off the moss. Please note that it will turn to brown when it dies and will not fall off from the shingles.” At that point, our drone images still shows live moss on our roof. We contacted Whatcom Gutter again on August 30th asking them to please come back and apply treatment as we still had live moss on our roof. We heard back from Whatcom Gutter on Sept 3rd stating, “I'll let you know once we can get back to your property.” After not hearing anything from Whatcom Gutter, we sent another email on Oct 18th stating we have MORE than been patient and would like to know (1) whether they will be coming back out or (2) give us a refund. Then on Nov 25th after issuing a credit card dispute, we receive an email stating, “ Please note that we will issue a manual refund direct to you in the amount of $640.56. Kindly cancel the dispute via your back within 24 hours and we will start the refund process.” On Nov 25th after cancelling our dispute with our credit card company, we asked when Whatcom Gutter would be issuing our refund. After not hearing back OR receiving a refund, we AGAIN contacted Whatcom Gutter on Dec 7th asking where our refund is. This is a horrible company to deal with. This company does not respond and customer service is not their strong point. Steer clear of this company!!!

The average roof replacement cost for a residential home typically ranges from $7,000 to $15,000, depending on factors such as roof size, chosen materials, roof pitch, and labor rates in your area. Premium materials or complex designs may increase the price.
The cost to replace the roof of a commercial building typically ranges from $5 to $12 per square foot, depending on several factors such as roof size, material, labor rates, building type, and local code requirements.
Several factors influence roof repair cost, including the extent of the damage, roof accessibility, material type, labor costs, and whether it’s a general repair or an emergency fix. Minor repairs can start around $150–$400, while major repairs may exceed $1,500.
Roof leak repair cost generally ranges from $300 to $800, depending on the size and location of the leak, the materials required, and labor intensity. Complex leaks involving structural repairs or interior damage will cost more.
Flat roof repair cost for commercial properties usually ranges from $500 to $3,000, depending on the roofing material (TPO, EPDM, PVC), the extent of the damage, and roof accessibility.
Mobile home roof replacement cost typically ranges from $3,000 to $8,000, making it generally more affordable than traditional home roof replacements, due to smaller size and simpler structure.
It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.
The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.
To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.
Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.
When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.
Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
