Eddie and his crew did a wonderful job in a timely fashion. They are courteous, hard-working, and did a real quality job. I highly recommend them for a high-quality budget friendly new roof.

Edy & his crew completed replacing the roof on my house, detached garage & ADU yesterday & did an excellent job. Last week I called 5 different roofing companies & Edy was the only one who answered my call (others I had to leave message). He came by later that same day to inspect the roofs & gave me the estimate the next morning. It it was very reasonable and lower than I was expecting. He explained the estimate thoroughly and informed me it did not include any sheeting that needed to be replaced but told me the cost for each 4x8 sheet if needed. We both knew the roof was 30+ years old and very likely some sheeting would need replacing. Once the old shingles were removed Edy showed me all the areas of bad sheeting and kept me informed of the running total. Also some fascia board was replaced and the wood stove chimney pipe collar was showing underneath corrosion so it was replaced. Edy was very diligent in keeping me informed as to what came up as the roof job progressed. When he presented me with the final invoice there were no surprises. The only additions to the estimate were the new sheeting, fascia board and chimney collar. Edy is up front and keeps you up to date as the job progresses. He's a straight shooter and I highly recommend Edy and his crew.

I am writing this review for Universal Roofing & Siding and Edy Mendoza because I feel the need to share my wonderful experience with this company here in Bellingham, WA.

I originally sought to hire a roofing contractor via Yelp and sent a quote request to several companies at once. Edy responded within an hour of my posting and via messaging I shared pics of my roof, my budgetary situation and timeline.

Edy acknowledged my concerns and met me at my property to better understand and communicate the reality of my roofing situation. Edy proceeded to share his findings (a roof layered with two layers of heavy asphalt shingles) and his professional advice and hesitation to lay a metal roof over the existing shingles, although doable, at this stage considering the amount of weight already bearing down onto the property’s structure.

His honesty and hesitancy to complete this job to merely satisfy the customer and collect a financial sum spoke volumes. He offered and I accepted, free of charge, a detailed breakdown of all material needed to complete a metal roofing project and after much negotiation with Edy, addressing the labor costs and trash removal, allowed me to better understand the magnitude of a roofing job.

After some thought and citing the fact that he set an honest tone from the onset, I hired him understanding that other unforeseen structural issues could arise and upon their first day on the job site with his crew totaling 4, he in fact discovered a foam barrier placed upon the frame acting as an insulator (I have an a-frame home). Edy and I worked through the issue which resulted in additional materials and labor costs, but after detailed removal of the shingles and meticulously installing the metal sheets over insulation via wood slats, the project was completed beautifully and professionally. Edy and his crew were very detail oriented, respectful, courteous and friendly.

I would highly and enthusiastically recommend that you offer Edy and Universal Roofing & Siding an opportunity to serve your roofing needs.

Fantastic! Originally came to look at my gutters and noticed my roof needed attention. He climbed up onto the roof,took measurements and photos. He explained how they would take care of the problem spots that were created from a previous roofing company. The team was very professional, on time and very maticulas in detail. They removed the old roof, replaced and repaired damaged areas. They cleaned up every day. They are clean, polite and definitely enjoy their craft. They know what they are doing. They are true to their word and the warranty for the work is hard to beat. I highly recommend!

We had a leak in our roof and I called Universal Roofing. Edy answered the phone and came out the same day to climb up on the roof to see what the problem was. After considering the issue of winds at Birch Bay and sometimes driving rain we decided to have a full new roof. Edy and team got the job done quickly and cost was fair. The GAF shingles and Weather Watch Leak Barrier under the shingles will protect our roof for years to come! Thank you Edy for being so responsible and polite and cleaning up when the job was done! It was a good experience working with Universal Roofing!

Working with Universal was a very enjoyable and easy journey. I had an immediate with our house in Bellingham and I called Universal Roofing up at 3PM and asked if they could come by at 5PM to look at the roof and get a bid created. Eddy showed up at 5PM, got on the roof and look at everything (no other roofing company got on the roof) and I had a bid by the next morning. Since this was a rental home of ours, I was not in the area during the installation of roof, but the communication between myself and Universal was great. Everyday I received a status and pictures.

I would recommend Universal for any roof needs you may have.
