With the recent rain storms, a leak emerged on a roof area that Universal installed about 1 1/2 years ago. They came out promptly to diagnose and address the problem, installing a new gasket and caulking around an exhaust pipe protruding through the roof. Also checked on an issue with the gutter they had installed. Quite conscientious in standing behind their work. Great service.

We just finished our first experience with a roofing company (Universal Roofing) since moving into our brownstone townhouse in Park Potomac. We desperately needed our kitchen deck redone & checked for safety and out 4th floor flat rooftop deck which had been leaking throughout our bedrooms floor ceilings. We had contacted 3 companies and found Universal the best available pricing within our budget. The owner Evan Erhlich was a “dream” to work with! Not only was he very honest, he reassured us once he tore apart both areas and if he found further damage, he would take care of it within his pricing. While he was doing the work, he took photos and kept us updated. He also gave us more than enough referrals that ended up feeling the same as we did. Universal provided an economical quote and was able to dispatch a crew in a couple days (or less) after the acceptance of the quote and did an excellent job solving for the trouble spots in our roof to give us a couple more years until replacement needed. Evan is solid so give them a call for your roofing needs.

Call them and left message. Return call in less than an hour. Diagnosis of problem within two days. Problem fixed in one week and it would have been sooner except I had to get delivery of a product to use in the fix. Work done quickly and professionally at a fair price.

I first reached out to Evan from Universal Roofing in March this year, after we noticed a small water leak coming from our room. He was quick to respond and stop by to give us an estimate to fix our issue due to broken shingles. We decided not to do anything about it at the time since we were travelling a lot for work around that period. More recently, another water leak occured around the same spot - this time a little more important. I immediately contacted Evan who said he was able to come fix the issue on the same week, and he did. We had a leak in our kitchen due to roof issues after a storm and Evan came to our house for an assessment within one day!

He was very thorough in terms of the work that's required, what the cost would be and was amenable to additional non-leak related repairs that I had in mind to do as well.

Once the contract was signed the team came on-site to finish the job quickly and have sealed all of the core roof issues.

NOTE: I would say the price is a bit on the higher end. However, you get what you pay for regarding home ownership work. So definitely worth the money since the job was done professionally, using good materials, and with longevity in mind.

Evan had addressed a problem for us earlier this year (correction of work done by a previous vendor) and did a great job. Based on that positive experience, I called him for an issue with a gutter. He was professional (I later learned he is a licensed architect) and explained the process clearly. He came out the same day to evaluate the roof and promptly delivered his recommendations and pricing. Universal Roofing was not the only quote I secured, but he and his team clearly stood out. He was back with his team within a day of the shingles arriving to remove and discard the old roof and replace it with a new one, along with sheathing that was either rotten or not up to today's building codes.
