I rarely write reviews and usually they are on the sub par jobs. I was absolutely astonished and taken away by the outstanding work of Leandro and his team. We noticed a leak in the winter. Wanted it fixed asap. Leo suggested we wait until the weather gets warmer, while he/his team put on a temporary stoppage. He made the time to do so right away as a big storm was headed our way in 2 days. This was all his suggestion. He reached to us on multiple occasions to see what week would be most convenient for us to fix the roof. I have never come across anything like this.
Very reasonably priced with zero pressure. Top notch communication. The team arrived sharply at 7am. Everything was ran by my wife and I, no surprises. The cost was exactly what the estimate said. I very much appreciate Leo answered my call on Sunday and sent out his technician to repair my roof shortly. What a relief as I was worried about possible leaks should it rain. It was a small job and I did not think I could get anyone willing to come out on Sunday. Leo kept me updated on the arrival time and job status. Let me preface that I am a certified roofing expert and have been in the residential construction and insurance industry for 19 years. We hired Leandro and Universal Roofing for a hybrid standing seam metal, and architectural shingled roof on our lake house in 2024. From the very moment I met Leandro, he outshined any other roofing company I met. His excellent communication (huge pet peeve of mine) and knowledge about roofs is unmatched. He knows how important it is for a roof to breathe, and how important it is to divert the water away from the backsides of your chimney. The importance of flashings and counter-flashings. Listen to the man! He knows what he's talking about. He and his guys are kind, understanding, professional, and courteous. They did a remarkable job cleaning up after the roof had been removed. Our job took a few days, because of the intricacies of how I envisioned the hybrid metal/shingle roof. They cleaned up at the end of each day, as if they weren't even there. We had them build an eyebrow roof overhang in the front of the house and it is EXACTLY what we wanted. We couldn't be happier!!! I HIGHLY recommend Universal Roofing if you want to hire a roofer with extensive knowledge in the trade, that will exceed expectations! Hire them for the knowledge, the quality of the products used, the care taken, for excellent communication and the craftsmanship. You won't regret it.

Leo and his team replaced our roof this winter after one of the big rainstorms this year left us with a leaky old roof.

Leo was very communicative about timeline and had the roof replaced quickly given the constraints of weather etc. Since the roof was replaced in the winter, Leo and his team stopped by a couple times to see how to roof was settling in. This spring, he did a little more work on it to make sure everything was laying as it should, all with no additional cost as it falls under their workmanship warranty.

I would highly recommend Universal to anyone looking to have their roof replaced/repaired. Leo is professional, timely, and his team produces great work. We are very happy with our new roof!

Leo and team did a great job on a small roof leak close to my chimney. Another company repaired the same spot six years ago by applying sealant and adjusting existing flashing. Ultimately it gave away. Leo and team did substantially better job by building out the whole area with new flash, shingles and new trim. Overall looks good and really happy with it. I can tell it will last long.

Universal roofing replaced my duplex roof a 10 months ago. They spent 2-3 days as the project was big and cost around 35,000$.
Leo, the owner, was very nice at the beginning. At that time, I owned 1 half of the duplex and builder owned the other half. The builder hired Leo and I approved it. I spoke to him and he seemed very nice and professional and promised a 10-year warranty on any issues in the roof. Unfortunately, like many other contractors, when something goes wrong, even if small, their nice attitude changes quickly.
When the finished the roof, my gutters were in a very bad shape from resting the ladders on them while the roofing crew went up and down. I took some pictures and sent them to Leo and he immediately got very defensive and told me they were always like that. He said he had pictures to prove that and I said I also had pictures and sent to him. He did not produce any pictures. Then, he came back saying that the builder did not ask him to replace any gutters. He stopped picking up my calls, so I had to go through the builder. The builder asked Leo to fix the gutters so he sent his gutter guy and told me he will only replace 2 gutters. I explained that all the damaged gutters were their fault, but he refused to fix them. When his gutters guy finished replacing the 2 gutters, Leo offered to fix the rest for a charge, which I had to accept as I was out of town. When I came back, I looked at the new gutters and one of them had a missing gutter guard. I called Leo and he got very defensive again, and told me that this is not his guy's fault! I told him it was him who replaced the gutter but he declined to help and stopped picking up my calls. I had to pay a gutter company to come place a gutter guard on the missing gutter.
After some windy days here, I saw some shingle pieces around the house (look at the picture). I call Leo to check if this normal, and of course he does not pick up my calls. I had to call another company and pay them to inspect the roof.
I would highly recommend you avoid this place at all costs. Once you have a problem, you will not get help and will have to hire other people and pay them to fix any issues.
If Leo decides to be a good and professional person and call me back to make things right, I will take down the review. If not, I will keep it and peruse further resolution.
House issues is a very stressful thing, especially with work, family, kids, etc. and the last thing you need is this headache.

Review for complete roof replacement on 1,900 sq ft house…

I first learned of Leandro from seeing a Universal Roofing sign in a driveway at a house in town. I then googled and read through all the positive reviews. From this, and nothing more, I decided I’d reach out for a quote and test the waters (full disclosure - I didn’t have a referral or know anyone personally who had used him before so I was proceeding cautiously). Let me tell you, I’m so happy that I happened to stumble upon Leandro. He is a first rate professional and does fantastic work. He just finished my roof yesterday and they did an amazing job. I couldn’t be happier.

First off, Leandro is a fantastic communicator. His response time is unmatched in the day and age of ghosting contractors. He is so responsive it’s refreshing (all texts/calls returned seemingly within minutes) and this immediately put us at ease with our decision to hire him. He was patient with us while we changed our minds a number of times regarding shingle color and he accommodated our every request.

Second, Leandro was honest and transparent throughout the entire process. We received quotes from different companies and not only were they thousands more, they didn’t include the level of thought and foresight in my opinion that Leandro’s did. Example, other roofers quoted us for demo’ing the roof and putting down new shingles, and their quotes would include a general line stating something like “to the extent roof decking/wood needs repair after removing shingles, pricing and work will be discussed.” Leandro was upfront and more thoughtful with us on this point. Leandro inspected the roof decking from the attic and told us upfront the entire roof would likely need to be covered with 1/2” plywood due to the condition of the existing wood. He built the cost to do this directly into his quote, no surprises. The other contractors had also been in the attic and never mentioned the existing wood needing repair. And on pricing, Leandro’s quote (which included the new 1/2” plywood decking) was still less than the other contractors’ quotes which included demo and shingles only. Upfront communication and pricing = trust in my book. Further, as part of the initial inspection of our roof, Leandro noticed that our roof lacked proper venting and explained to us the significance of keeping air moving through the attic. He proposed two solutions to address this issue. The first was to essentially build a soffit off the ends of the roof with vents (more expensive). The second was to install a plastic venting product down by the roof edge (less expensive). Leandro talked through the alternatives with us and happily recommended the less expensive option for us and our situation. Again, so refreshing to not be pushed into a greater cost alternative unnecessarily.

Third, the quality of the work and attention to detail were fantastic. Leandro’s crew showed up shortly after 7am and they were gone by 530pm same day. Complete roof in 1 day. Leandro was on the job overseeing the crew pretty much the entire day and he was meticulously supervising the work and directing the team. The attention to detail was so nice to see. The gutters were perfectly aligned. We have a few tricky bits of overhang and small roofing areas that they handled perfectly. Leandro kept his eye on everything and you could tell that his quality standards are high. He would catch little bits of underlayment or shingle just creeping over onto the drip edge flashing (imperfections that are pretty much unnoticeable from the ground) and fix them. At the end of the day, while pulling out of the driveway he noticed one other small item. He pulled the truck back into the driveway, unpacked the ladder and make a very very minor tweak. He takes pride in his work and it shows.

To wrap this up, they did such a good job on my roof, I offered to write this review unsolicited and am happy to do so. I recommend Leandro to anyone in need of roofing services, without reservation.

My entire experience with Universal and Leandro, the owner, was exceptional! I got multiple bids to replace my roof and Leandro was quick to schedule an estimate and his bid was done within the hour. He was the only person to take a holistic approach to replacing the roof. He went into my attic, asked relevant questions, explained everything in detail and made suggestions that nobody else made. He improved the ventilation dramatically with the installation of new soffit vents on all 4 sides of the house. He filed for the building permit the same day I said yes and was in constant communication about timing which was welcome given how much rain we have had. Leandro is the consummate professional. He is methodical, organized, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. I could tell he has built a great company as all of his employees were efficient and did quality work. It was like a well choreographed ballet as the team worked on all 4 sides of my roof simultaneously; one doling out shingles to each roofer as they worked methodically; fun to watch. When one of the other bidders came by after the job was done they said they were impressed with Universal's work, especially the detailed re-flashing of the chimney and soffit vent installation. The team started at 7 a.m. and was done by 3 p.m. and their cleanup left my surroundings better than when they began. Leandro was here several times during the day and he came by after the crew was done and made sure everything was perfect. He even removed an old antenna from my attic which had been here since I moved in. A+++

We needed our shed’s roof replaced and had been looking for the roofer to get it done for 6 weeks. Luckily, we found Universal Roofing on the Google map and chatted with them. They sent people over within 2 hours and got it done within 2.5 hours. We love that they do look out for little jobs too. Since its summer, we are sure they had bigger jobs in process, but took the time to take care if us. We love it and our neighbors do too, they will get more business from our neighborhood for sure.

I can't find the right words to describe our overall excellent experience with Universal Roofing. We had severe tree damage during a recent storm, the tree branches broke our roof and got into one of our bedrooms. Water started pouring inside the house! Their emergency service arrived in less than 30 mins and jump right into action to board and tarp the roof. They also connected with an emergency tree company to remove all the trees from the roof. Leo not only was extremely professional but he was very compassionate given our situation. We decided to have them fix and replace the entire roof, given their quality and reputation. They did an outstanding job and finished the job ahead of schedule with impressive results. All of their personnel were courteous and friendly. I just can't recommend them enough. It is very hard to find reputable and trustworthy companies like Universal Roofing, especially during stressful emergencies, we are so lucky we found them! Highly recommended!

This is a late review. This work was completed back in May. Leo and his team did a great job replacing the siding and roofing on our house. We had a tree fall on our house in February and we went through the whole insurance process. Leo was very accommodating when working with and providing the information requested by the insurance adjusters. He fit us in his schedule and had the material ready once the insurance part of the process was worked out. The work was completed in a timely manner and he provided us updates on when crews would be there and when materials would be delivered. They were all very professional and kept the yard clean.

Better than on time. Was 2-3 weeks early!! Very happy with the work. I plan on leaving the sign up for as long as as long as possible.

Too impressed with the speed and efficiency of this installation. There is no one better. The crew arrived at 7AM and left at 8PM making sure my roof was sealed. Every movement was with purpose and complete focus. As you know this is a messy job, I had (3) layers of shingles that needed to be removed..........cleanup was throughout the day until finished.

I live in Belmont, MA and one of my neighbors got a rubber roof done on their concrete block garage. I saw the Universal Roofing sign up after the work and called. We have a very similar two car concrete block garage and I asked for a quote for a similar roof.

Leo (the owner) was great to work with on the phone and promptly gave a quote, followed the town procedure of applying for a building permit and was communicative with me about scheduling the work (we needed to get a tree behind the garage removed first).

The roof work was done well and effectively and Leo's team was even flexible enough to add a gutter to the back after a structural engineer who had happened to be inspecting our deck recommended that.

Leandro and his crew were amazing! We hired universal to do a complete roof replacement including new skylights. They showed up the day before to drop off a dumpster, they put the dumpster on wooden blocks so as not to damage the driveway. The next day they showed up moved all loose items away from the house put up tarps over the landscaping and got to work. The entire time the crew was here they were professional and respectful, they never stopped working and none of them were seen playing on their phones which is a rarity these days! During the replacement there was water damage found by the skylights, interior and exterior. Leandro was able to make arrangements to have the interior damage replaced a few days later, the exterior damage was repaired on site, same day. Another thing that was found was when the attic was insulated the contractor filled the roof vents with insulation. Leandro’s crew went in the attic with rakes to clean out all of the soffit vents. I was not expecting them to go so far above and beyond. I walked around the yard for 30 minutes after they left, I could not find a single nail or piece of shingle anywhere!! Everything about this job start to finish was seamless and stress free. Leandro was very responsive and incredibly knowledgeable. I will recommend universal roofing to everyone I know.

I was at home while the work took place and observed that the quality of their work is outstanding. Mr. Costa was on site much of the time and responded quickly and efficiently when I requested three significant changes (skylight replacement, re-routing a roof vent, and an extension to the overhang of one side) while the work was in progress. The team quickly and flexibly adjusted to the new requirements so that the work would still be complete in only two days. They are a marvel and simply the best at what they do.

Awesome service. They gave us a great quote. Much lower than another we had for the same product system. They replaced the roof on our shed for a small additional fee. Any damaged wood was replaced under the shingles. They worked quickly. We have found no scrap, nails, etc. They even removed and reinstalled our gutter guards. I would recommend them to anyone.

The owner, Leandro, is excellent at communications, he picked up the phone when I called, replied to my texts promptly, and emailed contract documents without delay.
Within an hour of my on-line Angie request, an estimator showed up and I had a written quote the first thing the next morning. He pulled a permit, scheduled me promptly and did the work in one day, including removing a chimney, repairing some rot and adding plywood sheathing for Code compliance. The roof looks beautiful now and is ready for many more years of protection.
After the work was done, they returned to adjust the pitch on one gutter and he revised the invoice for my insurance company.

Universal Roofing replace the roof of my house.

Universal Roofing offer the same material and brands of other installers but with a significant less cost. So where is the catch? There isn't one, the installation process was very smoot, and the end job is great (and I am a very picky customer). The stuff was very polite, they protected everything around the house, they didn't damage or stain anything (I have a white porch and white deck). They left everything clean, house, yard, porch and deck. Working with Leandro (the manager) has been a pleasure experience.

Leo and Lucas were fantastic from start to finish. They gave my leaky roof a thorough inspection, inside and out, and explained the options, all of them better than another roofing company gave us. Our situation was complicated by our solar panels, but once those were removed by another company, they came immediately and replaced my roof, including repairing a couple of surprise damaged spots we hadn’t known about. I was expecting to have to clean up a few inevitable nails or Dunkins cups afterwards, but there was not a single piece of trash in the yard. They were quick to respond to our texts and emails, pleasant to speak with, and I cannot recommend them enough.

Leandro, Lucas and team did a fantastic job. They arrived promptly at the expected time, immediately began their work, and they worked hard. They replaced our whole roof in one day which included replacing a significant amount of the plywood on our addition. The end results look fantastic.

If that wasn’t enough, they also took great care to clean up after themselves, not leaving any debris or clutter behind. At one point they were literally raking the yard for old shingle fragments. I think our lawn might be cleaner than when they arrived!

I hired Universal Roofing to replace the roof for our house in Ashland. I'm very Satisfied with the work Leandro (Owner) did, replacing the roof, all the rotten wood around it and installing new gutters. He completed the work fully and on time. Highly recommend.

I don't know how good or how bad they are because the owner, after giving me an estimate , never returned my phone calls or texts. The estimate was for a roof repair which he probably didn't feel like doing reason why he probably gave me an high price and was surprised when I accepted. However I find his attitude unprofessional and I wouldn't even try to ever use them. Gave them a one star because to post can't give zero stars.

I had a slate roof that was leaking but my concern was not only the cost but I refused to disgard the good slate that was savagagable. Universal Roof resolved my delimma. Universal Roof saved many ,many slate I was very pleased. Also, upon removal of slate we discovered extensive serious roof damage.
Universal Roof repaired the roof the over and above what they were contracted to correct. Had to leave job site twice for extra material.

My wife and I can’t say enough good things about Universal Construction. Our house is a 1800 farmhouse with total roof was 5300 sq. ft. With 3 dormers, 3 bow windows, and a sun room, Including the barn. This was a huge job but the crew of 10 worked very hard well past 6pm each of the 3 days. The crew worked like a well oiled machine. They even repaired a corner that had rotted out on our farmhouse. Every day they cleaned up and I want to give a shout to the lady who worked tirelessly cleaning up. Very impressive to say the least.

We received a quote within several days after initial visit to our house.
We needed to replace 4-skylights and we had an overhang with a gutter that was not catching all the water coming off the roof. The quote was within our budget so we signed the contract and we were asked to sent 30% of total cost as a deposit.
Within 2 weeks the 4-skylights and some materials that would be needed for roof and gutter repair were delivered to our home.
The replacement of the skylights and roof repair began within 2 weeks. The replacement of the 4-skylights was completed in 1-day and U.R provided needed inside finish work to 2-of the skylights. The work to the roof and overhang was completed in 1-day and the gutter installed about 1-week later.
U.R has proved to be an affordable and dependable company. Their workmanship is outstanding and it was so good having such great communication start to finish.
