WHEN DURABLE SLATE WAS HERE, they did good work and were professional and timely. BUT ... in June 2015, Durable Slate left New Orleans and moved to Maryland. They recommended a guy named Gus (not a Durable Slate employee) to continue the work on my roof. But Gus is out of Louisiana frequently and when he IS here, he does not return phone calls. You call him for a job, he says he'll call back but he does not. I'll have to find someone else who can repair slate roofs.

Durable Slate is no longer a New Orleans company and they don't seem to be able to take on any new smaller residential work. I've called a few times now and have been told that Justin will get back to me to schedule the work but no one has. Perhaps if you are a large institution like a church they have time for you but for some leaks in my single family residence roof they never get back. It's a shame, I was really impressed by this company when they were local.
They just left my house after repairing a leak in my old asbestos tile roof and I am very impressed. When I was unsure of what kind of roof I had (what can I say, I'm a bad homeowner) they were, over the phone, able to determine it by using Google Streetview- how cool is that? John came out quickly to take a look at my roof, made an assessment and gave me an estimate. The work was done extremely quickly and professionally and they left me with a smile on my face, which NEVER happens when I get something done at the house. If they aren't the cheapest (I have no way of knowing, they're the only folks I went with) then it's worth the extra money for piece of mind, the explanation of what has happened and what they'll do to fix it, and the quality of work performed. Highest recommendation.
