This is the second time our AC broke down on a weekend (2021 and 2025). OHA was available same day. The technician, Shabeer, was able to fix it during the first visit. Shabeer is knowledgeable, thorough and personable. Overall, it was an easy experience.

Called them and gave them my info, address, etc everything. The guy on the phone said someone would come the next day between 8-10 am. It was also indicated on their online appt system that there was availability then. Waited and noone ever came. Godfred Wiafe came by our house in Old Town today on a Friday evening to diagnose a problem with our unit, which turned out to be a clog in our line. He diagnosed the problem almost instantly, asking me the perfect diagnostic questions, and followed a set of clear steps to solve the problem, which he explained to me. The fix ended up being a little bit more involved that we had hoped, but he stayed to take his time and make sure it was done right, explaining the process the entire time. He’s been by our house before on other service and diagnostic calls and he’s fantastic—my preferred guy who I’d trust with our HVAC every time…he’s the one who makes OHA my go to.

My technician was kind and patient and explained everything in a manner that I easily understood. He was forthcoming about the possibilities and estimates of my HVAC issues which made it easier to trust him. No one wants to pay hundreds of dollars on HVAC issues. So, I appreciate the technician's effort to resolve my issue economically and sufficiently with the promise of a 30-day follow-up and a 6-month work guarantee to ensure there are no other issues. With all this mentioned, I am now elated that the competitor was a no-show. I was initially furious, but am a happy camper now. Thank you, OHA!

Brice is the man. We called Friday night of Memorial Day weekend bc in our attempt to install a new thermostat, we did something and the HVAC unit stopped working . We called around 9pm and Brice came out at 10am the next morning and it was up and running within the hour! Highly recommend OHA Home Service, especially for last minute help on a holiday weekend!

Thank you OHA for quoting me a reasonable replacement cost. Brian was a great source of information. You know the quote is going to be astronomical when a tech speaks for 30 minites about what what it's going to take to replace your system. Brian provided me with just the right amount of information. Let's be honest what does the average homeowner know about replacing a hvac system? Google and Reddit can only offer so much. OHA is small business. With all these hvac and plumbing companies being swallowed up by larger companies, you pay for those trucks. Keep it small and local. I will provide another review once the system is installed. Stay tuned.

Brice serviced our HVAC system today and had everything up and running quickly. He took the time to explain what caused the system not to work and what he did to fix it. He also showed me what to do in the future to help keep the system from getting clogged. I would definitely recommend him to anyone having issues with the heating or air. 5 stars!!!

• October, 2024: Our gas fireplace was in working order and was used daily over the course of a month. However, because we recently moved into our house, we decided to retain OHA Home Services ("OHA") to clean and service the fireplace for annual maintenance purposes.

• 11/01/2024: OHA sent a technician (Brendan Kelly) to our home to clean and service the fireplace. We were invoiced $290 for the services and paid the invoice.

• 11/02/2024: We attempted to use our fireplace, but it kept shutting off. I contacted OHA to advise them of the issue.

• 11/04/2024: OHA technician sent Mr. Kelly back to our home to inspect the fireplace. Mr. Kelly got the fireplace working properly for 15 minutes but could not determine the cause of the problem. OHA did not charge us for this visit. OHA did provide a zero-balance invoice on which Mr. Kelly stated: “If problem persists with batteries installed then I would Suggest replacedment of the ignition control module. Notably, during this visit Mr. Kelly did not inspect the pilot assembly as evidenced by the invoice. In the days that followed the problem persisted and we once again contacted OHA.

• 11/10/2024: OHA sent a different technician (name unknown) to our home. This technician checked the wiring underneath the fireplace, but did not inspect the pilot assembly. At the conclusion of his inspection, the technician advised that we should replace the ignition control module. Not knowing anything about gas fireplaced, we authorized replacement. The part had to be ordered so we were without a fireplace for the remainer of November, all of December and into January.

• 01/17/2025: OHA sent the technician who visited on November 10th, to replace the ignition control module. OHA invoiced us $415.22 and we promptly paid the invoice. However, when we attempted to use the fireplace after the technician’s departure it continued to shut off. I contacted OHA yet again to advise of the problem.

• 01/27/2025: OHA sent yet a third technician (name unknown) to diagnose the problem. This technician did not inspect the fireplace, but merely looked at the history of invoices and paperwork from prior visits. At the end of the visit the technician advised that we would need an Intermittent Pilot System Rebuild Kit for a total cost of $1,952.00. No longer trusting OHA, I retained a different service provider to diagnose the problem.

• 02/08/2025: A service technician from a different company inspected our fireplace and advised that we would need a new pilot assembly. He advised that there was likely nothing wrong with the original ignition control module and that a new pilot assembly would fix the problem. We paid the new technician ~$500 to install a new pilot assembly and the fireplace has worked ever since.

We scheduled and appointment for them to come and check our gas fireplace which was leaking gas. The gas company had already checked and told us where the leaks were coming from.
The technician they sent out was very nice, but we could tell he was new and didn't really know what to do. We had to show him where to turn on the gas to check the fireplace then had to ask him if he had the tool to check where the leaks were. He said he did, but had never used it before. He went to his truck to get it then went to check for leaks before he turned on the gas. We had to tell him to turn on the gas to check for leaks.
There was a bit of a language barrier as he spoke with a heavy accent . He then showed us several service contracts we could "purchase" to take care of the problem. The service started near $1,000 and went up from there. But then he said that it didn't cover parts. He had to go to his truck to talk to a manager before he offered any of this.
When my husband called the manager Vic, a few days later to see if we could get some of the $190 they charged us back, they said no but they could send someone else out. He also said that the guy they sent was a new technician and they have him call because he can't get the pricing right. Not the fact that he didn't know how to fix it, but the fact that he didn't charge us enough!
I would not recommend this company at all. I think they only care about getting their service fee and getting you on a service plan.

My gas fireplace pilot would not stay lit. OHA charged $290 to confirm the problem and clean the fireplace glass with MY paper towel and cleaner. Also used MY vacuum to clean the mess as the OHA tech did not have any of these materials on him. OHA ordered a new pilot assembly.

Part came in and was charged $600 to install it. The OHA tech admitted to being new to gas fireplace repair and called back into the office several times for instruction. In the end he did NOT install the new pilot assembly due to not having the correct tool. I asked for a new tech.

New tech installs the part and upsells me on installing a fireplace fan, since the outlet is already installed.

The same OHA tech returns and installs the blower BEFORE checking the outlet. The outlet is not connected to a live circuit and the tech leaves with the electrical wires coming out of the fireplace to a nearby wall outlet, stating I need an electrician to connect the fireplace outlet. $700 for this service.

The fireplace stops working again. I call in to schedule a return and am told that it may be an additional charge due to not being related to the previously done work. I’ve spent over $1500 and do not have a working fireplace.

I call a new company. They inform me the pilot assembly is not the right part for my propane fireplace. After doing some research, the correct pilot assembly is $37 (charged $600 by OHA to install). The fan assembly is $60 (charged $700 by OHA to install with the wires coming out the front of my fireplace).

I cannot recommend OHA for gas fireplace repair. The thought of being told I may be charged more on top of the $1500+ already spent to correct their mistakes is not the customer service one would expect.

1/28/25 Update: OHA responded that they would contact me. That never happened.

I had OHA come out to service the fireplace. The technician cleaned the fireplace and started it, but the fireplace stopped while he was still here. He re-lit the fireplace and it stopped again 15 minutes after he left. I contacted them and they sent me a ridiculous quote $800 to repair it. I’ve then contacted William fireplace service out of Manassas Virginia, who came out and determine the pilot needed to be cleaned. He cleaned it. and it is working fine now. I would not recommend OHA for any fireplace maintenance.

I don't know if they do a good job or not. Scheduled a cleaning and was given a window between 1-3pm on a Sunday, they confirmed at 7:48pm the night before and then on Sunday no one showed up. I called at 2:30 within the window to make sure they were still coming and was told they would call me back shortly about the ETA. At 3:20 I called again and they said they would reach out and call me right back. At 4:30 the person finally called and said he would be to my place at 5pm so I told him I could not have him arrive then and he said okay he would be here by 5. I repeated that it was too late, cancel and I would reschedule. (Times are rounded to the nearest but I included a screen shot of my calls, redacted the call from the guy who was coming out since it's likely his personal number.)

I followed up with the company at their main line and they didn't seem to care that no one showed up on time and no one called me back when they had told me they would so I canceled, they really didn't care much. Said, okay, sorry, and that was it.

If a company cannot be relied upon to show up and be courteous enough to call if they are running late then I am not sure how I would ever trust them to climb onto my roof or clean my chimney from inside without making a huge mess. Had they arrived on time or even close to the window it would have been fine but arriving at 5pm on Sunday night when it's dark and they're supposed to inspect my chimney by climbing up on my roof - no thanks.

If it was important to you to make it right I would assume that you would have done so already. I work in a customer serving industry and when something's done wrong by my company we address it immediately. ***

I recently had issues in my fireplace. Earlier I called an amazing technician from other company in the area. They not only charged me hundreds of dollars for diagnosis but also gave me quote of few thousand dollars to fix the issue. I am glad, I called OHA for 2nd opinion. Kevin, from OHA did an excellent job. He identified the actual issue, replaced the faulty part and saved me thousands of dollars. Nice, professional and punctual in the service.

Had Jason come out to the house to do an inspection/cleaning of fireplace and chimney. Recently acquired the home which was built in 2021 with the fireplace installed brand new to code at that time. This was after 2 reschedules by the company one of which I took the day off work for. Jason came to look at the fireplace and chimney and said it was unusable due to its state, so I took that under advisement and did not use the fireplace, but this wasn’t before I had already had another opinion already scheduled later the next week. So the call was for a level 2 inspection and cleaning for $200 which I negotiated. He said it wouldn’t make sense for him to do that because I shouldn’t use the fireplace in its state. Didn’t clean the chimney and didn’t stick a camera in to inspect. Only took pictures with his phone to determine this. Said it would be $95 for them to come out so I wrote him a check. He said he’s gotta talk to his higher up about a resolution which is most likely a complete system replacement. I didn’t buy that for a second but they are the experts. Sounds super expensive, well he said they would get back to me in a week, but it’s been 2 weeks now and have heard nothing. Regardless, I got a second opinion from a highly rated company who did a thorough job inspecting the entire system, ensured me the fireplace and chimney is safe to use, and got the green light and the paperwork to show for it. So now we have a functioning fireplace and are very happy about that. Always get a second opinion folks, if you’re not an expert get a couple of them to tell you what’s right and what’s wrong.

We have a 2 HVAC units & a gas fireplace under a service contract with OHA. We have had HVAC service contracts in several homes over the years and can honestly believe that this preventative maintenance helps to extend the life of these units.

Today, Bernie came out today and serviced both HVAC units in preparation for summer use. Bernie thoroughly checked both HVAC systems and found one small problem which was quickly fixed.

Every OHA employee that has come to our house over the past 4 years has been friendly, courteous, professional, and responsive...something you do not often find anymore.

We recently switched to OHA after our previous company caused major flooding and damage to our home.
OHA has been nothing but courteous and professional, from their front desk staff to the texts that are sent prior to a technician arriving. The most recent service call was to repair one of our AC units. The technician, Jonathan, arrived as stated, quickly identified the issue and had it repaired within 30 minutes. He then ensured the system was functioning properly before leaving, which may seem like a "no brainer" however, we've had companies leave prior to verifying their repairs fixed the issue and/or caused more damage.
We highly recommend OHA for their professionalism, courtesy, ease of making appointments and skilled technicians.

Essix Perry has worked with Martin Steele to install two new toilets in my home. Last Tuesday they arrived to inspect both to see exactly what needed to be completed. Wednesday he showed up with Martin to complete the work. Unbeknownst to them there were issues they encountered. Together they were able to complete the installation of one toilet but additional work needed to be done in order to complete the installation of the other. Today they returned and were able to complete the installation of the second toilet and were able to avoid some of the extra work they thought they were facing saving time, inconvenience, and cost. He cleaned up after both jobs, removing old parts as well as empty boxes from new equipment. He was very professional during the entire process

Steve Hylton came out to do the HVAC seasonal maintenance on our system. As usual he is on time & wears a mask & booties.
He always answers any questions or concerns I have effectively .While here he discovered the fan on our hybrid heat pump was not working properly. He investigated and resolved the issue which was a wire.
Steve stayed until he was satisfied that the system was functioning as it should.
Very happy with the service & Steve's attention to detail.
