O'Donnell Ace Hardware - Ames, IA

My first visit to this location. I needed replacement bolts for an 80s futon frame for my Uncle. They were delighted to help me and I was not waiting to be helped for longer than a few seconds. ( I had no idea what bolt I needed) My experience was great everyone had a smile.

My brand new Weber gas grill was knocked over by high wind and 2 people from O’Donnell went above & beyond the call of duty by coming to my house and helping me make a minor repair. This is why I support our local Ace!

Staff is always friendly and will go out of their way to assist you with whatever you need. Great selection for whatever project you have going on. Pricing is comparable to the big box stores. Perfect place to get what you need and shop local.

It’s my first go-to place for any hardware, paint, tools, furnace filters, lightbulbs, etc. The best part is that there’s always someone available to help me with what I am looking for. Also online ordering and curbside pick works great.

One of the Best Hardware stores I’ve ever been to. Very well stocked, or can get you what you need quickly.

Pricy but they have everything it would cost the same to spend on gas to get a better price so if u live in the area might as well shop local

This is the best store in Ames. When you're like "I need one of those little thingies but I don't remember what they're called" they always know what you mean. And they have a surprisingly great selection of kitchen equipment including canning supplies.

Always greeted by staff offering to help. An easy in and out for little things rather than dealing with the traffic to get to the big box store, especially when its for some single item oddity you need. They have saved the day several times for me, last trip it was a pair of set screws for a 40 year old sewing machine and today it was a spark plug for my snow blower to get it running again.

Went in for some paint with an idea of what color I wanted and was welcomed by awesome staff. They helped me get just the right color I was wanting. Very happy with the customer service.

I have always loved Ace Hardware as they are incredibly helpful and friendly no matter where you go. And O'Donnell Ace Hardware is no exception. The staff is always friendly and happy to help with whatever you need.

I love this store. It’s very small for a hardware store yet always has what I need. Prices are usually more than Menards or Lowes, but the Rewards system is good and it is so much more satisfying to come here.

I've been trapped in the ceiling for the last four days, and it's rather cozy. There's plenty of mice and bugs up here to eat, and I can listen in on all sorts of strange conversations. Very comfortable would recommend

I was going to stain the wood top of my kitchen island. I went to Ace, not really knowing what I needed to purchase for the project. The gentleman who assisted me was awesome! He helped me find everything I would need, explained how to do everything, and gave me some very helpful pointers. This store will be my "go-to" store for all my household projects. You just don't get that kind of service at Lowe's or Home Depot.

Very easy to get to and have the best people to help you find whatever you need for your yard and for your broken items or will suggest an alternative if they can't help - a Real Hardware Store
