We moved into a pretty old farm house in Cambridge. Upon closing the inspector told us we would have to make some electrical updates. After getting no response from a few other companies we emailed Northstar Electric. They responded to us right away. Shortly after they came out and gave us a very detailed estimate and a schedule for when they could do the work. Cody and Ben showed up on time, they installed can lights, ceilings fans, removed old wires, brought our panel up to code, installed GFI's, helped with power to our chicken coop and many other random tasks that our old house needed to get up to code. They were great to work with, very professional, and charged a fair price. I would definitely recommend them and will certainly use them in the future if we have a need for any other updates.

I've had a very positive experience recently working with Northstar Electric. Ben provided a free review and estimate of the work I needed done, which included fixture and motion sensor installations and replacements and the running of new wires to add additional outlets in my (not full height) basement for sump pumps and a dehumidifier. I thought the estimate was fair and reasonable and appointment scheduling and billing were made easy by the company's administrator.

Andre and Jeremy arrived on the appointed date and worked quickly and efficiently to complete the significant list of tasks needing to be accomplished within a single day. They communicated well and were pleasant to work with throughout the day, including going over details and making sure the work was done to my expectations. The work seemed to be done to a full professional standard and everything was in good working order when the job was completed.

I came away from my first working experience with this company feeling good about the service I received and will not hesitate to call them again when I have electrical work needing to get done. I recommend the company without hesitation.

We recently hired Northstar Electric for some electrical work in our home, and we couldn't be happier with the service provided. From the moment we reached out, the co-owner Ben set a high standard with his punctuality, friendliness, and helpfulness. He took the time to thoroughly go over our options, guiding us to make the best decision for our situation and budget. Jayme in the office was also incredibly helpful, answering our questions quickly and thoroughly. It was clear from the start that customer satisfaction is a top priority for the Northstar Electric team.

The electricians who completed the work, Andre and Jeremy, were equally impressive. Both were exceptionally polite and efficient. What stood out most, however, was their respect for our space and comfort. I work from home and they were conscious to get the internet up and running quickly, and checked with me before shutting the power off. They were also careful to keep the door to our bedroom closed as requested, just so our cats didn’t run out.

Northstar Electric exceeded all our expectations, and we wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone in need of electrical services. We will definitely be calling them in the future.

We just bought a house and needed a lot of work done (nothing huge, but definitely a long list) and went with Northstar as they came recommended by my dad. There was a bit of a wait (same with every contractor) but they were always very communicative. For the quote they came to the house, got the details that they needed, and gave us a fair price. We wound up having to drop one thing and add another and they adjusted the price accordingly with no problem.

About a month after the quote they came to do the work and they were PHENOMANAL. Andre and Jeremy were both extremely professional, knew what they were doing, and arrived on time. They worked for two full days and were constantly giving updates as they worked down the list and were very communicative with my fiance about the nitty-gritty of the ethernet work he needed done. They were also VERY CLEAN! Seriously, not a speck of dirt, I'm super impressed. They always cut perfectly sized holes in the wall for the outlets and didn't leave any drywall specks behind. For reference, we needed:

- Two new outlets in the garage and one outlet fixed
- New flourescent tube lights installed in the garage
- Replace the light on the front of our garage with a motion sensor one
- New fan in the living room and move the old light fixture into the dining room
- New fan in the main bedroom and move the old one to a different bedroom
- Replace timer switches for the fan in three bathrooms
- New outlet in one bathroom
- New doorbell camera installed
- Several ethernet ports installed
- A whole lot of replaced light switches

For several of these they had to go on our roof or through our crawlspace and they were super great about it and also gave us some pointers of what we'd need to work on in the future (like our insulation) as well as what looked good to them (our electic overall checks out--phew!) Even as they were packing up to go they had zero complaints when we asked if they could check something for us. All this for a very fair price! We will absolutely be using them again in the future when we're ready for the next step in our homeowner journey.

Andre showed up at my house at 7:30 am, less than an hour from when I had emailed to say that I needed someone to help me assess the damage after a power surge. He went through the whole house and tested each outlet and appliance - very thorough. This is not the first time Northstar has come to my family's rescue. Last time they were there in 10 minutes! We have had them replace the breaker boxes in 2 houses.

professional, considerate and very knowledgeable when repairing our Chandelier and Lights this December, 2023. We are so happy to have our Kitchen Chandelier Back.

As a homeowner it's not easy to find professionals like Northstar and I'm so glad I did. After switching to an electric vehicle I hired Northstar to install my Level 2 EV charger. They did a beautiful job and I was very pleased with the value. Scheduling was easy and communication was smooth. I will be hiring them again for future electrical jobs!

I just had Dillon from Northstar add some outlets and a light to my garage, and a new circuit to add five outlets in my basement. He did a great job, showed up on time and ready to go. We did a walk through of the work to be done and Dillon answered all of my questions. There was an issue with not enough space in the box for another breaker but we talked it through to solve the problem on adding a circuit for the outlets. Overall super pleased with the work and would use them again. The price was fair, I would recomend Northstar for in home electrical work.

We’ve worked with NorthStar several times these last 2 years. Always prompt, well communicating, honest and steady with quotes and final tallies, detailed with reports, and super kind. Oh, the results have been stellar. Yesterday’s work with Andre and Jeremy were particularly impressive!

Absolutely great team of electricians! We had them come out to install an EV charger and move some critical circuits to a sub panel so we could power them from a generator or the EV during a power outage. They explained everything they were doing, made sure we had exactly what we wanted and did a super clean and courteous job. Great experience overall and even a few weeks later when we had a question about one of the changes they stopped by and helped figure it out at no cost. Northstar will certainly be our choice for any future work!

I reached out to Northstar about running some networking cables up a floor as we had no network access upstairs other than wifi which today is such a pain for the many wired devices we have.

They were quick and responsive, letting me know that they could have someone come out in under a week to take a look / quote the work.

During the inspection process, the tech was very friendly and professional and offered a few ideas on how to approach the issue. He even went so far as to talk to the builder of the home and accessed a unit they are currently standing up to get insight into how to route the cables. With his assurance that they'd try to get back quickly, he let me know it might be a bit of a wait as they had a lot of work scheduled.

To my pleasant surprise they were able to get back out here in under a few days! They worked quickly and diligently to finish the entire job in under four hours. The work was clean and there were only two cuts to minimize the impact to my drywall.

Now my upstairs is hooked up to the 21st century and I couldn't be happier! Thanks Northstar!

Great service from Northstar Electric! I called and they came and gave me a quote the next day. They came back 2 weeks later to complete the job…showed up on time, worked efficiently and cleanly, and gave a great price. We will be using them again in the future. Northstar Electric upgraded my panel and BED hookup from a 100 to 200 amp service along with lighting and vent updates throughout the home. City permitting and BED coordination was handled by them and went smoothly. For the panel update a team of three came in and worked a full day. They were professional, courteous, and took the time to answer questions when asked. While they didn't finish in 1 day, they rescheduled the remaining work for a few weeks later. A single electrician came in, did the delayed work, touched up the original work (a door bell hadn't been reconnected), and went the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction. I highly recommend Northstar Electric.

Second time I've had Northstar all the way down to Cornwall. As usual, professional, timely (on schedule) and quality work. Got house wired for a generator and some upgrades to my shop. Would 100% use them again. Jayme is great to work with and made sure follow up happened.

We had our underground power changed out by Ben and Cody at Northstar Electric. This was an extremely difficult and challenging change out as we have an older home. They were outstanding!. We could not have been more pleased. We will most definitely use them again and we would highly recommend them .

I hired Northstar to do all the electrical work for my garage ADU project. Their price was fair and they worked quickly and professionally. Scheduling with Jayme was easy. I didn't have detailed plans for the crew, but brief conversations with Ben & Dillon in the mornings was enough to have the work done as I wanted. Looking forward to working with them again.

I have not had major renovations done to my nearly 100-year old home in a long time. Dillon, Benny, Jeremy, and Andre did a superb job removing all the old knob-and-tube wiring, installing a new panel for the upper two floors, installing new outlets and in general leaving my home in much better electrical shape than before they started. It was not an easy job (plaster walls), but they never complained or fussed about what a difficult job it was. They cleaned up every day after they finished, which was very notable. I appreciated their kindness and professionalism and will recommend them to anyone who is looking for an exceptionally wonderful company. Jayme in the office was also wonderful to work with, as I had a lot of questions that she answered patiently and thoroughly. She is very good at her job, and a credit to the company! Thanks!!

I would recommend North Star to anyone ! Professional, friendly , respectful and responsive. We have talked and worked with Cody , Ben and Dillon . Yesterday Dillon installed an outlet in the island and was just great to work with . And he wears a great furry hat .

They did a complete re-wiring of our camp (outlets, switches, wiring, etc), installed new panel/circuit breaker, replaced main electric line, installed fans & light fixtures... you name it, they did it!

Cody came out to look over the camp and provide an estimate. He was timely, professional and very easy to work with. His team of Ben, Dillon, Benny, and Andre were exceptional. Their work was high quality and very thorough. They always went the extra mile to ensure things were done well. It was a big job and it definitely took longer than anticipated to finish (thanks to unforeseen challenges with the old camp, not them!), but they were outstanding throughout. On top of all that, they're just really good guys. We were very pleased with the finished product.

I would wholeheartedly recommend them for any electrical work you may need. They are fairly-priced, trustworthy, and do fantastic work. We will definitely be using them again!

We hired Northstar to address several problems, including dead outlets, broken exterior lights, and replacing our kitchen track lighting. Dillon was punctual, polite, and knew his stuff. The team at Northstar are excellent. Cody, Ben and Dylan did a nearly full rewire of our historic home, removing archaic wiring and replacing it with modern standard, along with new wireless smoke detectors, new lighting, a new panel and running Cat 6 Ethernet cable throughout the house. They rolled with the twists and turns of an over 100 year old house, communicated clearly, and were the right team and the right price for the project. Thanks!

Cody and his team worked in a timely manner. Pleasure to work with Northstar Electric and would highly recommend them. Had lights and electrical installed in a new shed row barn. They were efficient and did quality work.

Contacted Northstar for panel upgrade from 100 amp service entrance panel to 200 amp panel. Ben and Andre where very professional and efficient. Had to replace the entrance wire with a mast involving cutting through the roof. Did an excellent job sealing the roof. Placed a new meter box and sealed the main entrance wire into the house. All is water/insect proofed. Both men worked hard and finished the job in a timely manner. Can't say enough good about the work and professionalism of the team.

We hired Northstar to perform the electrical work for our kitchen and main floor renovation. Had a wonderful experience. Cody was a timely and clear communicator and he was flexible with the schedule to meet the various timelines in our reno. Cody, Ben and their crew are very knowledgeable about their craft and its obvious they all take pride in what they do. Their work was exemplary and their pricing was also very fair. At the completion, they vacuumed areas where they drilled, and put furniture back in place. Couldn’t ask for a more professional experience. Cody answered my call and after he visited three days later he called with appointment time. Dillion showed up on time. Very professional and courteous. Answered any questions I had. This was a very small job and slot of places didn't want to bother with it. It's great knowing there are professional businesses still left that look at each job instead of only picking the large jobs. Thanks guys I will spread the word.

I was in need of an electrician to complete the installation of my hot water heater. Dillon from Northstar Electric provided very prompt service. He did excellent work, was very efficient and a nice guy. Totally pleased.

This review was previously a 5 star review from several years ago. Unfortunately today that review needs to change. As what seems to happen with most contractors has unfortunately taken this business in the same direction. Previously we have had several experiences with Cody and Northstar. They showed up on time and did professional work at a fair price. Now that seems to no longer be the case.

After attempting to book an appointment for an estimate we were told a person would be stopping by to take a look at 9am a few weeks back. I took the day off to meet the contractor at 9am. 9am came and went. At around 11 we attempted to reach out for information. After being ghosted for several hours by the contractor and now not being contacted about when he would show up we continued to go about our day hoping someone would reach out. The call never came. At 2:30 on the afternoon we were contacted by someone saying the contractor could be there at 3:30. What happened to 9am? We aren’t talking about a few hours late. That’s half the day late. At this point we had given up on them coming at all so we were not home to meet them. The person that was scheduled to swing by contacted us after the fact to “make it right” and offered to come on a weekend to do the assessment. So fast forward to today at 9am. As I wrote this it is 9:33. At 9 no one showed up. At 9:04 a text was sent. “Having stomach issues, can’t make it today”. So to be clear, you are scheduled to show up at 9am, at 9:04 you send a text saying that. I guess you didn’t realize you had the issues until you were already late for the appointment. Seems convenient.

The other day I was driving in the car and heard Cody promoting his business on the radio. I thought ‘that’s great that he has had success’ as our previous experiences had been great to that point. The sad fact that I was hoping was not true is that they had outgrown any level of dependability and customer service. Which seems to be the case. Glad for his success, because prior to this Cody had taken good care of us. But we won’t be reaching out for work ever again. Sadly Northstar seems to have gone to that place all contractors eventually go. They are spotty, not dependable, and just aren’t the same anymore.

Sorry to say we are done with this company.

Cody, Ben and Dylan are the best electricians we have ever hired in our 40 years of owning homes. Every time we have left a phone or email message they have responded that day. Scheduling is quick and they always arrive on time. We have had the pleasure of their exceptional service spanning installing exhaust fans, replacing fixtures, and repairing outlets to being the only electricians on a major remodel that involved complete panel upgrade with sub panel install along with relocation of most of the interior and exterior outlets and fixtures. Their attitude is always upbeat and professional and their work is impeccable. Their billing is extremely fairly priced. Put your trust in these three and you can rest easy that all your electrical service will be done completely, professionally, and with the highest of quality.

Ben responded quickly to the message I left and was able to be at our home within 24 hours. He determined the issue and repaired the problem within an hour while he was here. Great customer service! We highly recommend Northstar Electric!

Called Ben and Cody for a large job, they gave an extremely competitive quote, set up the time for the job and showed up and delivered. Took the time to answer all my questions before they showed up and spent two days doing all the work I needed at my new house(it was a lot). They also came back a week later at no charge after a different job to finish wiring our hot tub when the hot tub installation was delayed through no fault of theirs(delivery was a week late). Completely professional, completely experienced and knowledgeable. I have already scheduled them to come back and do more wiring we hadn’t realized we wanted the first time. Can’t recommend them enough. Also helped recommend excellent painters and contractors to help make our home the way we dreamed, really appreciate their help.

Ben installed a new outdoor outlet and security light for us, as well as repairing another outlet and light. He was very thorough and professional. His work was excellent and we would not hesitate to hire him again.

The overhead fan/light combination in the living room needed to be fixed because the fan worked but the light didn’t: if you have this problem at your place contact Cody at Northstar Electric. He came over promptly and took little time to find out what was wrong and repaired it quickly.

We had to change out two lights and a vent in our house. Very fast response for a quote and arrived on site exactly at the time we agreed on. Tom was very personable and did an excellent job.

Great guys, super professional. Troubleshot electrical issues we'd been having for a number of months that left us without lights in most of our bottom floor, located and fixed the issue, and then came back on a Saturday to install new fixtures/outlet when we got them. 5/5 would recommend.

Ben, the company's principal, is knowledgeable, skillful, reliable, and considerate. He took all my concerns seriously, and was responsive to all requests. I am especially impressed with his willingness to seek resources and get answers to questions. Ben is a persistent and creative problem solver. If he is not sure about something he is confident enough to say so and then proceeds to find out. Northstar has done a variety of jobs for me - and I am completely satisfied with all of them.
