The best hardware store around! Our family has shopped at Brown and Roberts for generations. BUT, recently Bibens Ace Hardware, who has owned B&R for some time, sold to Aubuchon's mega network. The website link now connects to Aubuchon's hardwarestore.com main page where Brown and Roberts is no longer listed, so you can't check inventory or make orders online. Aubuchon's please get your act together here!

If in need of a hardware store, look no further. Brown & Roberts is the last of a breed of a store that cares. B&R staff are some of the most knowledgeable people in the business. Can't find something? Just ask and they'll walk you to it and wait to see if you have any questions. Not sure what product is best for your project? Run it by them and they'll have suggestions. It's an old timey store with a feel that they're there just for you. Plus the kitchen/gadget section always has what I can't find in other stores, all good quality. They'll also order for you if something is not in stock. All staff are great, but Deb deserves a shout out twice now sanding a metal project of mine at no charge.

A great old hardware store with hundreds of those big and little things you need for your house from mothballs to lawn mowers and everything in between. The staff knows their inventory and are extremely helpful and friendly.

Ok it may not be the cheapest option in the world, but they have a large selection, spread over three floors, and the friendly and knowledgeable staff are true small town gems. These peeps faced down the big box orange store and won because Brattleboro stood behind them!

First visit, but not the last. The range and variety and quality of goods (hardware, home, small engine) puts ANY big box to shame. Highly recommend.

I always find what I need! They have a little bit of everything. From pots and pans, blinds, flashlights, screws, nails, glue, water filters, etc. Friendly workers will always help you find what you need!

I came here looking for bolts of a certain size but ended up spending an hour. just wandering around this. expansive store. I have a love for hardware stores, but this one was particularly delightful because it was fitted into this older building with three levels of items spaced out comfortably to browse- I sometimes find that hardware stores have aisles that are really really crowded together which makes it overwhelming to just peruse. My favorite part about the store though, is the storage of the bolts and screws for sale individually. in addition to the plastic shelves that you might see at other Ace hardware locations, this store has retained the old-school hardware store vibe with one of those wooden multi-drawer organizers with little hand inked placards for each drawer. The staff is super friendly and always willing to help you find whatever you're looking for and if they don't have it in stock, there's a good chance they can order it for you. Anyone in the Brattleboro area looking for hardware should absolutely check out this store.

So glad the takeover by ACE changed NOTHING (at least that we can see). Great, helpful staff, all the stuff you need, loyalty points, and an atmosphere that makes you wanna come here instead of feeding the evil online monster. (Or at least purchase it from their own website!).

The store has a homey and local feel. The inventory is vast, the staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly, but if you jsut want to browse on your own, they leave you to it

Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Had just the parts I needed to fix my couch. Two of the pieces of hardware broke and they exchanged them no questions asked. Thankful to have a store like this just down the street. You might pay a little more than a department store, but it’s well worth it in regards to the quality of service you receive and selection of tools and supplies.

They have literally everything you could ever possibly need! The staff is knowledgeable & very friendly, even when you (like me) are not very handy. This store is above and beyond a hardware store. If they don't have it or don't do it, they will send you to someone who does.

I love this store. The people are friendly and helpful and always make sure I find what I'm looking for. They give me great deals, and best of all, there is no fragrance circulating, which makes it a good experience for people who suffer from Multiple Chemical Sensitivities. Thank you so much!

For a country feeling location, store is crowded with items and friendliness from the staff and customers; almost felt as part of a family. Staff were helpful and enjoyed conversation. Staff was able to answer questions and provide good advice.

This is one of those old mom and pop hardware stores you love to go into because you know they will have everything for those odd things you need tied up around the house! Awesome store!

One of the retail foundations of this town, something for everyone from knives to sleds, small motor repair, clocks and cat toys.

I was installing handles on cabinet drawers and discovered that the screws were too short. So I took the handle and screws to Brown and Roberts to see if I could find the same type of screw about a half inch longer. After I looked for about a minute or so, a store worker came along and asked if she could help. I gave her the screw, she put it into a really handy guage (I want one!), and she found exactly what I needed. The screws worked perfectly to install the handles. Thanks for the prompt, personal service!
