The whole process is very good experience, the owner responds very quickly and give great feedback. You don’t need to worry anything about the roof installation, everything goes quite smoothly and the cost is fair. I would love to make more project with Matt if needed.

I recently hired Milcon Roofing, Design & Build to replace the siding on my house and was thoroughly impressed. They were prompt, professional, and completed the job efficiently with great attention to detail. The workmanship was excellent —clean lines, quality materials, and a finished product that really improved the look of my home. Imagine filling out an online form requesting an estimate for roof replacement. Now, imagine not only getting a call back within minutes, but having it be the owner call you back. Imagine the owner agreeing to come out the same day, listen to your concerns, go over the project in detail, and just be a decent guy in general. Imagine him getting a crew to your house on the next non-rainy day and having a full roof installation including re-decking in 5-6 hours, all at a price better than other contractors were quoting. Oh, and no high pressure, sign right now sales pitch.

Fortunately, I don't have to imagine any of that, because that was my experience with Matt and his crew at MILCON. I could not be happier with my decision to go with him. From now on, any work that I need done that they offer will be done by them. Every step of the process was super easy, and the work was done fast and clean. After the job was done, my patio was cleaner than it was when they began.

Owner, Matt Kavanah, followed up on a Thumbtack request for proposals with a home visit to see what we needed and how Milcon Design and Build could help. Matt explained the process, how long it would take to order and get ready for the installation, and most importantly, what we could expect as performance from the ProVia window and door products recommended for our home. Matt indicated that he would have Project Manager, Josh, come out and take precise measurements to make up the order, but for the proposal pricing he was able to give us a very competitive bid based on our conversation that day.

We kept coming back to Matt’s straightforward conversation and the value of the windows we would be ordering. The price and quick time-to-install just sealed the deal. Matt made some key suggestions that, after our installation today, proved to be great advice.

One of the reasons we chose to do a window replacement now (January) was the cold spots in both our primary bedroom and dining room - opposite ends of our house. Even upgraded HVAC hadn’t been able to overcome the heat loss. Tonight, with a new package of high-efficiency thermally broken windows and sliders installed, we’re actually turning the thermostat down because we’re warm!

Outstanding! After weeks of countless window contractor interviews, we found the perfect company. Matt at Milcon, with his many years of experience, provided us with detailed product descriptions to meet our environment requirements, that included muffling the Ashburn Data Center and air traffic noise. They installed over 40 windows in two days! Most important, my wife is so happy with our choice.

We were in need of a roof replacement so we threw out a few requests on Thumbtack and I’m glad we did since it brought us to Milcon Roofing. Matt reached out very quick and if I recall correctly came out the following day to discuss options. He wasn’t pushy or trying to just sell me something. It was clear he has been in the business for years and more or less just informed me of my options. He also noted his crew gets certified on the roofing systems which we really liked. So we needed up asking for a quote and it was very fair and competitive.

I will say, Matt was very professional, quick to reply to texts, his quote was very fair, and his crew was on time and knocked out the job out in less than one day. Oh, also their clean up was outstanding.

While I hope to never see Matt again (since the roof will last many more years than we should be here) I would 100% call him back for any future work here or at our next home.

We hired Milcon Roofing, Design & Build for replacing the original aluminum siding on our house. Matt took the time to explain different options and we opted for the insulated siding. Matt was very easy to work with and communicated with us through the entire process. The work crew did an great job despite some days with rough weather. We are very happy with the results, less cold drafts, a reduction in noise and a more modern looking exterior. Everything looks great! Can't recommend enough.

We have had a very positive experience with Milcon roofing. It was a major job, with 38 windows replaced in the house. We interviewed a few companies, but Milcon stood out. Matt did a good job from the start presenting all possible options. It took under three months for the entire process, from signing the contact till installation. Installation took two days, with a crew of nine. Four windows appeared defective, and were replaced with new ones three weeks later. We like the quality and overall look. Good insulation feels especially during cold and windy days, the house is much warmer in winter now. We would recommend Milcon’s service to friends.

His three men crew worked tirelessly for days and installed beautiful siding and trimmed / capped all of the wood components of my very, very, very tall townhome. This is a mixed review because of several factors.
I have two single-family homes. I contracted with Milcon to repair and cap the trim, to replace the gutters and to tear out the poorly-ventilated soffits and replace them with perforated ones for better attic ventilation. I could not be present for the work. It all looked great, but when I went in the attic to check the soffit venting on my primary residence, I found that they failed to remove the old soffit. So, putting new soffit, even ventilated, over the old one just made the ventilation problem worse. I spoke to them and they said it should have been done and they would fix it. They had to tear out the soffit they replaced and do it again the right way. However, on the other house, I was told they did not include the removal of the old soffit in the price so they would not "fix" it.
I asked for the exact same treatment on both houses and now I have one house that I must pay someone else to re-do because Milcon misunderstood my requirement. The work they did was done well, but it was not what I wanted. Not happy about that.

Recently we had Roof project done my Milcon. Process was smooth and Matt kept us informed about the need and charged reasonably. I would recommend Matt and his crew for fantastic work they did on our end of lifespan roof.

Staff was very professional, prompt, and offered high quality products at a reasonable rate. We had 22 windows, front door, and back patio French doors installed. The job started at 8 am and was completed by 4:30 pm. Would highly recommend.

Matt and his team is professional and effective. We hired them to install a new door system and to fix a window leaking problem. But they went above and beyond detecting the actual problem is the aging drainage system. They replaced the gutter/ downspout for the whole house and solved our problem! The team was meticulous in their work and clean up throughly and the project was completed within the agreed timeframe.

My family and I could not be more satisfied with Matt and the Milcon Design & Build team. We had an unusual issue with our existing gutters that required Matt and his team to think outside the box for repair and replacement! The work included rebuilding the soffit and fascia along with new gutters. Matt is a very business-like, cares about my home as if it were his own, gave me expert advise on color of the shingles that would compliment the brick and shudders of my home. My neighbors are remarking and complimenting his work saying "It gave your home a whole 'FACE LIFT' !!!"

He took ample, unhurried time to explain exactly what his crew would be doing. He sat down with me and told me every detail. He had pictures to show me his past work and what my home could look like if I used these certain color of shingles. He was right and did a much better selection of color than I did. He is an expert!

The Crew found lots of water damage which was shown to me in pictures. They would have to replace a lot of rotten plywood. They ran to the store and replaced it all and still completed the job in one day - extremely efficient. The Crew covered all my outdoor plants and fixtures. They are neat and clean. Everything was thoroughly cleaned up in my yard after they were done.

Both Matt and Crew were courteous, respectful of me and property.

I would recommend Matt & Crew to my neighbors, family, and friends. If you don't go with this company, you are going with a company that is lower than EXCELLENT.

In late 2022, I bought a house that had a patio door with wood rot so bad that I could see daylight coming through a hole at the bottom of the frame. The house also had 32 original aluminum windows. During the home inspection, the inspector identified a few windows that didn’t open whether due to age or because they were painted shut. I thought “I just won’t use those windows to ventilate - no problem.” What I didn’t know/see until after closing was that none of them had any screens…

My wife and I went a full year without opening a single window due to how many bugs/mosquitoes are in this region and it sucked so we had thought about just buying custom screens as a temporary solution.

After a cold winter in which my HVAC struggled to get to 67 degrees at times, I knew I needed to do something before the upcoming 2023 winter and figured I’d start with replacing the patio door with the hole letting cold air come in/warm air escape. Also, I said that I might as well get window estimates at the same time so I could get an idea of how much that project would be too.

I found Milcon and met the owner Matt through Thumbtack. Matt was incredibly responsive and we scheduled an appointment shortly after. The meeting was pleasant because he was extremely quick and efficient in getting measurements to provide me with an estimate while answering any questions I had. I had expected a long drawn out process/presentation that would take over 2 hours but Matt was in/out in under 45 min.

In total, I had 11 different companies come by to provide quotes.

Door brands included ProVia and ProVia only. Every single company offered ProVia doors as the go-to.

Window brands included: ProVia Endure, Provia Aspect, Apex Insignia, WindowNation/Vytex, Slocomb, and Earthwise/RJT Industries.

After comparing all options, I decided to sign a contract with Matt and Milcon for replacing all 32 windows, replacing patio door with a French door, and replacing another side entry door.

I chose Milcon because:
1) Price vs Value
2) He offered a Lifetime Labor Warranty
3) Matt seemed like a man of his word.

To dive deeper into each above:

1) My wife wanted black exterior windows instead of white - which I had no idea costs so much more than white. Adding color to Earthwise/RJT window frames cost about HALF the amount of the cost for adding color to ProVia Endure windows. When you have 32 windows, that difference adds up quickly and ultimately saved me about $5k off the total price of just adding color to windows compared to my 2nd best quote for adding black. Matt also provided a bigger discount for doing the entire door/window project together (rather than phasing them over time) than his competitors.

2) No other company offered anything close to this type of labor warranty. Most companies offered between 2 to 5 years.

3) Pre, during, and post-install, Matt has 100% followed through. As someone who admittedly who can be hard to deal with because I have very high expectations (along with having extreme water damage paranoia), I did have a few minor things that most homeowners probably wouldn’t ever notice/care about. But me being me, I called Matt back a couple times and he had no problem sending out his guys see what they could do.

Speaking of “his guys” - I can’t speak highly enough of his installation crew led by Josh who has been installing windows/doors for 20+ years. Josh and his team worked hard and diligently during the entire time and did an amazing job on a difficult project that requires cutting out nailing fins/flanges behind siding. Caulk work was exquisite with perfectly smooth lines that look like they were done by a machine.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Matt and Milcon to any of my friends and family. I’ll definitely call Matt again for another project.

NOTE: I ended up with Earthwise/RJT windows not because I thought they were the best performing or the highest quality (they’re neither) but because I thought they were above average and represented the best bang for your buck. Plus they’re local.

This company was able to to repair a very old flat top roof on my mother's house. The repairs held up during some recent heavy rains. The owner of the company, Matt, was very responsive and very quick to get the work scheduled and completed. We had a positive experience with Milcon. Matt provided our quote and info about his business. The price was very fair with quality GAF shingles. The workers were timely and polite. Our roof took a full day plus a few hours the next morning. Matt personally came when the roof was finished and inspected his team’s work. He was very responsive and answered all our questions within minutes. We recommend Milcon and would work with them again.

Milcon was great to work with! My project was very small and Matt and his team still took it on when 3 other contractors would not, due to the size. Milcon has a new client for life. I can’t wait for my upcoming door install with them.

Matt and his team did a phenomenal job from start to finish. He provided a cost-effective, detailed estimate for my roof and even added in an active duty military discount! On the day of the job, he provided updates continuously and photo proof. Unfortunately some of the plywood underneath my roof was rotted and I had a small over-hang that needed to be completely reframed due to the rot. He was able to provide me with estimates for different avenues of approach to repair these. We ended up doing a demo to the overhang at no additional cost. This was one of the most pleasant and professional experiences that I’ve ever experienced. I would 100% recommend Matt and his team to anybody in the area

Matt was great and easy to work with and helped us get a incorrect Mansard roof done right along with a new beautiful roof and windows done in a quick turn around. Communication is excellent!

Great experience. Good communication, managed to get the special order door much earlier than expected. The team did a great job of retrofitting and balancing a patio door into an older home with non-level floors.
