Important community fixture to hedge the ever growing national box store domination. They seem to retain many of their employees for long careers. They are a chain, but are in the sweet spot of efficiency of scale and community focused.

Lavalley has been mostly terrible to deal with. Between major errors with framing, multiple times of miscalculating how much of a product was needed, to sending completely wrong items to the job site, to not even checking the delivery to make sure all the boxes have it on the truck, to ordering the complete wrong items to begin with. It's even a pain to go in and pay invoices. Don't use this company for any type of build unless you're and experienced builder who knows the product you want and how much you need. Do not rely or trust them at all to give good advice or help catch anything that might fall through the cracks.

This past July I started looking into replacing a sliding patio door and decided to price out replacement sliding patio doors at LaValley. We stopped by around mid-July and went to the Door & Window desk where Robert (Rob) showed us (using my rough drawings) price options in Anderson and Marvin doors. We agreed that Rob would stop by and provide an estimate and he did come by shortly after to do measurements. When done Rob said he would e-mail details shortly. When nothing came after a few days I sent an email to Rob to make sure he had my email accurately but still no reply.

I decided to call the store in mid-August as a follow-up. I got through to Rob on that call and identified myself and he did remember doing that estimate in Quechee and said he would call back when to went back to his desk and looked over his notes. I have never received a call back.
More recently I left a note with the store manager (Mr Seaver) stating how disappointed I was with the experience. As I might have expected I did not receive a reply.

I consider this unacceptable for a prominent Retail business and would have given no stars if possible.

I had the best experience at LaValleys recently. I had a couple of dumb projects that needed boards cut. Larry in The Yard was the best. He listened to the vision I had for my projects and cut them to perfection and with a great sense of humor. I remember going to LaValleys with my Dad as a kid and it was so much fun. I left the other day feeling the same way. Thanks, Larry!

Have always had fine experiences with retail but I was very disheartened by the process to get our kitchen floors replaced (delays, confusion, etc.), some issues related to the final product (most notably, a big vinyl tear right in the middle of the floor and a "fix" that just does not feel good enough) and their response to those issues. I really felt like I was left to fend for my own with the subcontractor and it was clear the LaValley's rep did not care, including about how the subcontractor explained away the biggest error as one person doing a two-person job when the second guy did not show up -- but I still was made to pay full price. Months later, I continue to find cut corners, like unfinished work behind the refrigerator, but based on how things went the first time, I don't see a point in raising it with them. I wish I had read some of these reviews earlier.

We specifically stopped in to see their train station upstairs, which is pretty detailed. The boys loved it and asked to go back. Certainly a place to experience whether you're young or old! I never knew it existed! Inside the main door, go left to the stairs or elevator. From there follow the signs, turn right and go down the hall. Easy to find.

I walked in 10 minutes before closing just before a holiday. I was met with a smile and the gentleman was very polite and helpful. He took the time to show my 3 yr old probably the most incredible remote train village I have ever seen. They were definitely more interested in making a little boy happy, than selling me anything. I will always buy anything building related from them going forward!! I will also tell anyone that will listen to go there.

Wonderful store, helpful staff, low prices, and wide array of product selection for constructing high-performance buildings in our cold climate as well as excavation and general dirt work supplies. I used to go to Fogg’s and LaValley’s at similar frequencies. I am done with Fogg’s! LaValley’s is now the only locally-owned reputable supplier left to serve the upper valley. Their prices on most construction supplies are 20-30% cheaper than Fogg’s or Home Depot which is needed relief in this period of high inflation.

Sadly I have to post a negative review. Picked out a counter top and a backslash. Waited patiently for a month for a quote after being told several time that it would be a few days. Called them… zero follow up. Called again… zero follow up. Called the president of the company… zero follow up. Not only do we need to finish our kitchen we also have two bathrooms to re-do. I will never consider LaValley’s again.Very disappointing customer service as there was no customer service.

We have dealt with an order for cabinets in our kitchen over the last three months. We had to send back the whole original order due to damage and poor construction. We were up sold a different cabinet brand and have also had to send some of those cabinets back for the same reasons.The cause has been a combination of their delivery person not taking care when loading and unloading as well as the cabinets not being put together very well. We were told the cabinets sent back a second time we’re “ready”. They were not. In fact they looked as though they had been collecting dirt and had not been taken care of at all let alone repaired. The rep at the store has not been helpful. We originally planned to order other items from LaValleys to finish the project (counter top, sink, etc.) but will look at another store to do so.

Barely got a response week after week while ordering a storm door, coordination was difficult and I had to call almost every time to ensure I got the product. Later, when I called about not receiving reimbursement for other wood I returned (delivered in poor quality, wrong size), the person I spoke with on the phone got aggressive with me immediately. Bad on multiple levels. Would not recommend.

Great folks there. The yard guys who know me and know I'm disabled were right there helping me load my stuff and wished me a Merry Christmas.

Sales person was nice and helpful. Told us they would have our garage fully installed and completed in 2 days. From the first time the team showed up, it’s been over 2 weeks and we still don’t have a completed garage. They continue to say “we will be there _____ day and will stay through completion.” This has happened at least 3 times now. Would just like our garage finished when they say.

I really want to love LaValley's. I have tried over and over to give them all my business. Unfortunately, every time I call or try to talk to someone, I am made to feel like they just don't care. It is almost painful trying to get answers to questions and it always feels like they can't wait to finish the conversation.

An old school building supply and home remodeling store and it's just a good these days as ever. So much more personable than Home Depot or Lowe's. Shop here if you can, you'll be glad you did!

Update 6/13/2022: Stopped there today to find a new pair of work gloves. Was not disappointed. Good quality. Fair price. Satisfied customer . ____________________
Vast array of interests and shopping possibilities are here. There is everything from what one would expect at a typical hardware store. There is a nice selection of good work and ooutdoor clothing. Also available are extensive assistance, support and materials for home and business building and remodeling. This is one of many LeValley's in the region. They are all slightly different, but share all of the excellent elements of this store.

I really like this place it has everything you could need or want as far as building supplies. They also have very knowledgeable people working there which I might add is not the case in the big box stores so when I need info along with good quality products I go to laValleys.

The management at LaValley is fantastic and their service to customers is outstanding. I just moved into a 15 year old home and needed 15 year old towel hardware from an out dated collection. They had what I needed and they shipped it to me in Albuquerque. I whole hardily recommend shopping at La Valley Building Supply. Thank you for your help. I love the matching towel hardware.

First time in, the place seems like it has anything and everything you might need or want to do any type of project, I recently opened up an account so I can get quality materials instead of depending on the big box stores, I have an ongoing project they seem to have their stuff together.

I built a new house last year and bought the basic shell at Davis Frame in Claremont. The rest of the materials (interior framing lumber, garage, all roofing and siding, etc I got at LaValleys. I found the prices to be as good as Home Depot and they deliver for free. The guys in the store are all helpful and knowledgeable and gave us a lot of free advice and good recommendations for materials. Even the delivery drivers went out of their way to help us put materials where we wanted them and went the extra mile. Only one time I had an issue and they resolved it in a professional manner. No complaints from me - only kudos!
