Recommended Reviews
-As they removed the fascia, there were some cabling (internet/tv/etc.) that was attached to the old fascia and they removed the cable supports as they put the new fascia on. They should've put it back since they removed it, but they left the cabling dangling. I had asked for them to put it back how it should’ve been. They said that was not their job and so I now have cables dangling with no support (pic 1).
-There was a hole in the plywood (pics 2 & 3) where not only was there water damage to the lumber framing, but it got inside and behind. They were supposed to fix this. Initially, they had covered this with the underlayment with a hole penetrating the underlayment. I immediately sent pics to the lead about it and initially he complained that they’d have to do more work for a “small” hole. Thankfully, the workers doing the job convinced the lead that they’re fine with getting that fixed (which they did). As a customer, I shouldn’t have to bring that up and it’s very disrespectful for the lead to complain about my concern.
-There was lumber framing that was rotted out from water damage long before they started work (pics 4, 5 & 6). Instead of replacing the lumber, they were going to cover over it and I caught them in the act and told them to replace it properly, not cover it. I’m paying money for a quality job, not corners being cut. There was another lumber framing that had a hole (pic 7) and I wanted it replaced. They covered it instead with the new fascia to my deep displeasure. I did tell them about it and they complained that they would have to remove it after all the work they’ve done. It still hasn’t been fixed.
-They were unable to replace the soffits, which was a major thing for me. They attempted with one that looked really bad, but they couldn’t remove it due to how it custom fits into the house. I don't fully fault them for this as they had tried, but I'm bothered they had said that it looks fine as-is (pics 8 & 9). The soffit bubbled out because of previous water damage long before they started work.
-I initially wanted gutters on the house and had gotten that quoted BUT expressed that I wanted to get all of the soffit around the house replaced before we settled on getting the gutters. But, as mentioned in the previous bullet point, the soffit would inevitably need to be replaced, so there was no point in getting the gutters installed if we have to rip them out again. What I expressed got lost in translation and JR&G decided that only one of the soffits needed to be replaced, which was very disappointing. I let JR&G know that I was no longer interested in having the gutters because the soffit would need to be replaced. They let me know they already bought them since they’re custom fit and they can’t return them. I told them that I don’t want the gutters right now but I’ll consider them later on and contact them.
-I called for a warranty fix because there was a leak in our roof coming from the cooling unit and there are visible spots where they did not fix (pics 10 & 11). They came over and told me that because it’s from the swamp cooler, that’s a maintenance issue, not their job/problem. If that’s the case, why is water seeping into the roof they had worked on into my house?
-While they did the warranty fix (basically sealing the areas that are pictured for the cooling unit), they surprised me by telling me I owed them money for the gutters. It’s upsetting that I never got the chance to contact them yet about it but I asked if I paid them, if they'll deliver the gutters. They said no because they trashed the gutters out of frustration and said that I owed them. So, I paid them for not giving me the gutters that they decided to throw away.
-Incredibly unprofessional during the roofing work and warranty fix. When I had complaints/concerns/requests, I got back-handed responses, was talked down and downright insulted me to the point of blaming me, rather than taking accountability (e.g. “You don’t work on roofs. At least, we know what we’re doing.”, “You owe us for the gutters.”).
They showed me how to save money by only paying for the gutters that I needed whereas other companies just wanted to do the entire house and offered no advice whatsoever.
We needed our gutters replaced. Jose gave us a great price and the work was completed in just a few hours, except for the new gutters we'd never have known they were here, the clean up was that good. The installation was efficient and the gutters and downspouts look very nice against the new stucco. They routed the downspouts into our rain barrels as requested. We're now getting some rain and we no longer have the drip just outside the front door that ices up in winter. We're impressed and will highly recommend Just Roofing and Gutters! (Thanks for the sign in the yard down the street, we'd never known the company existed if we hadn't seen it!)
