As someone with a construction background, I highly value accurate and thorough inspections. However, in two recent instances where I was the listing agent for homes inspected by Journey, the reports contained significant inaccuracies.

For example, decorative walls were misidentified as structural, and a brand new roof was inaccurately stated to be over 10 years old. When confronted, Journey's explanation was that they could not be certain and therefore made a guess. However, clients pay for a professional assessment, and assertions presented as facts should not be based purely on speculation.

While the customer service person responded quickly and inspector was quick to amend the report after I contacted them, most sellers do not have the opportunity to challenge false statements in inspection reports and will instead lose a sale as a result. The current real estate market is already challenging, and it is crucial that professionals provide accurate, not misleading or fear-inducing, information.

11/10 Experience!

Karol was absolutely outstanding! From the moment he arrived, he was professional, courteous, and incredibly knowledgeable. He took the time to walk me through every part of the inspection, explaining details in a way that was clear, helpful, and never overwhelming. His attention to detail was second to none, thorough in all the right ways without nitpicking unnecessarily.

What really stood out was how much he genuinely cared. He didn’t rush, he answered every question with patience, and he made sure I felt confident and informed about the condition of the home. It’s rare to find someone who’s both technically sharp and so easy to work with.

I want to clarify that I did not personally hire Journey Home Inspections — the buyer of our home did.

This review is based on the experience we had as the sellers during their inspection process. The inspector did notify us that he accidentally put a hole in our laundry room ceiling and he apologized for it, which we appreciated. We were very polite and understanding — we didn’t make a big deal of it at all. However, we later discovered additional damage that was never mentioned: our dryer, which was in immaculate condition, was scratched across the top, and debris from the ceiling was left scattered all over the laundry room and on top of our washer and dryer. We were never told about this and had to come home, see the mess for ourselves, and clean it up.

In addition to that, the third-party repair crew they hired blocked access to our master bedroom hallway for two full days, delaying our packing and moving timeline — another major inconvenience that we just had to work around.

What was most upsetting, though, was an uncomfortable and inappropriate encounter with the third-party contractor. Within a minute of entering our home, one of the workers asked me, “Where are you from?” I do not have an accent, but I am brown. When I replied with the name of my home state, he looked confused — clearly expecting a different answer. There was nothing in the house that would have given him reason to think I wasn’t from Tennessee or from the U.S. It felt racially motivated and left me feeling deeply uncomfortable in my own home.

I’m sharing this not to be overly critical, but because the seller’s experience deserves to be acknowledged. We’re often the ones absorbing the disruption, cleaning up messes, and working around last-minute appointments or repairs. While buyers rightfully want a thorough inspection, sellers deserve respect, professionalism, and communication too.

I can’t say whether or not I recommend Journey Home Inspections, since I wasn’t the one who hired them. What I can say is that this is strictly feedback on how they can improve the experience for everyone involved. Because although the buyer hires the inspector, it’s the seller who is equally impacted by any shortcomings — and that part shouldn’t be overlooked.

Second time having journey do my home inspection. The first was before I purchased this one was after owing it for 11 months. He did a great job found that the roof has some problems on it that my require a new one. Also found builder short cuts and mold in the crawlspace. These will need to be fixed.
