When it is possible I try to shop at local stores vs. global chain stores. Recently I needed something for a project I was working on in Selah. I stopped in to Helms True Value to see if they had what I needed.

From the friendly greeting as I walked in to the store asking me if I was looking for something. (of course I was) and the clear directions of what aisle I needed to go visit to find the item I was impressed with the store.

The store is spotless. I have never been in a hardware store that was as clean as this one. Shelves were well organized and little details like labels facing outward. I mean it is like this place was just opened for business.

Nice selection of items that you would need to complete your home or lawn project.

When I purchased my item I felt like my business was appreciated. A friendly thank you and we hope you stop in again soon was authentic.

Please shop local whenever you can. It will make a difference in your community.

Such a clean well set up store. Everything is right where it should be and grouped with items you will or may need. The ladies at the front of the store are friendly and smiling.

This site has a hometown family friendly vibe. Always someone available to help you find what you're looking for! They have a great paint selection, and a little bit of everything you hope to find at a hardware store. Seasonal items galore and an amazing nut, bolt, screws, connectors of all shapes and sizes selection.

This is the place to go! The Ace in Naches couldn't order more hardware I guess, they told me to go to Yakima. So I went here and these folks always greet you at the door and have a lot better selection all around

This is the best store to go to if you value outstanding customer service. They have a lot of staff working all the time so it’s never a challenge finding some help and they always ask if I need help with anything when I’m looking around. Prices are a little higher but it’s worth every penny every time I walk in.

Always have what you need, in stock and help who is smart enough to show you where it is. You can walk in, ask for help in 20 seconds and be out the door in less than 8 minutes. Faster than walking in from a box store parking lot!!

The store was very clean and the employees were all very helpful! I went specifically for plants and was incredibly impressed at the selection, the prices, and the health of the plants. Not to mention the way the display was set up. It is obvious that they really care about the appearance of their store and the health of their plants. They were right up front where they can get natural light instead of tucked into a corner. I was very impressed overall and will continue to buy plants here as long as the quality remains this amazing!

Clean well stocked hardware store. Beats going into yakima for random items. I enjoy the membership coupons in the mail. You know I take advantage of those! Recommend.

I wouldn’t recommend Helms True Value for your shrubs or trees. Purchased a tree about 3 months ago & saw a gradual decrease in health & eventually death. I pulled the tree & took it into Helms with receipt in hand for either a replacement or refund only to be responded with “We don’t take trees or shrubs back as we don’t know how the customer took care of it.” Why would I spend the time/money/energy into purchasing a tree, planting it, & tending to it only to have to dig it up & return?
I know other places like Home Depot, Lowe’s, & Costco have a 1yr guarantee on the trees & shrubs. So I recommend going to those other businesses as they honor & back the products they sell!

Helms True Value Hardware is a wonderful full service hardware store
with the stock that reminds me of the good old hardware store that I remember from when I went to the store with my dad many years ago. But it has all the stock needed in our world today. Thank you for providing such a good shopping experience and for bringing a smile to my face. AND- thank you for being aware of the Covid 19 pandemic.

I really enjoy shopping at Helms, but was disappointed at my last visit. None of the staff were wearing masks or gloves and there was no protection at the counter for the staff. With Yakima County having the highest Covid-19 rate on the West Coast they should be taking better precautions.

I'm very disappointed with Helm's at this time. They are selling hand sanitizer but cannot put one out as needed for their customers??? They are making really good money off of Selah people because people are doing a lot more at home projects.
So, I think they care more about money than people's health. Even if covid 19 is not real to some people, to others it is VERY REAL.
They can afford to be kind and do the right thing.

These folks always take care of me. No matter what kind of random project I'm doing, they'll try to humor me and half the time they come up with a simple solution to something I'm over complicating. I really appreciate that they will take the time to be real, and encourage some good snark. It's my favorite place to spend my future retirement.

Pricing questions
1. What is the average roof replacement cost for a residential home?
+-

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?
+-

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
