I came in to purchase a French press coffee maker. I had checked on line for availability, two were listed for this store. When I got there, they didn't any. Poor job of updating inventory on their part.
River saved the day, offered to special order for me.
I pick it up Friday. River gets 5 stars, Ace gets 2.

Picked up a EGO Power lawnmower on 5/4. Got home and setup the lawnmower only to find the battery charger was showing a red first light and the battery was not charging. Looked at the manual and the red light is supposed to signify that the battery is too hot or too cold. It is Wisconsin, but it was over 50 degrees. I brought it inside and let it sit on the charger for over an hour, still nothing. Did a little research online and found that sometimes the batteries need to be reset out of the box. Went through the reset procedure, still was not charging.

At this point I called Ace and told them that my battery was not charging on the lawnmower I had just purchased. They asked how long it had been charging, I told them it has been sitting on the charger for over an hour. The employee said he talked to the owner and suggested it takes longer than an hour and should be charged overnight (the manual says an hour for full charge). I told the employee the first red light on the charger was on. I told them what the manual said about this. Instead of pushing further, I told them I would wait and see what happens overnight.

The next day, battery is still not charging. Called and they said to bring in the mower so they can exchange it. I get to the store and the employee then tells me that I will not be exchanging for another lawnmower, but that the store owner wants to look at the battery and charger. Unfortunately for me, he had already left for the day.

At this point I'm upset. I waited at the store for the manager who had apparently just stepped out and would be back in 15 minutes. 30 minutes later the manager said this is the first they are hearing of the issue and that they have new employees who don't know the process. I got nowhere with the manager and they insisted it had to be looked at.

It is now 5/6, I call at 10:30 and they apparently had still not looked at the battery. I asked to talk to the owner. I am then told that the battery is bad and they will have a new battery waiting for me at the front register. I went in a picked up the battery. Not sure who I talked to, but he explained that he has experience with the batteries and that's why he needed to look at it to verify whether it was the battery or the charger. I took the new battery and left.

Three wasted days, when they could have just replaced the battery and charger when I called the day I picked up the machine or exchanged the entire lawnmower. They could have looked at it all they wanted at that point instead of wasting my time. Very frustrating and of course there was no apology for the inconvenience.

Quick follow-up. The new battery was fully charged in an hour.

This Ace hardware is great. I have NEVER had a bad experience here, even with the highschoolers. They are always very helpful and if they don't have the answers they will find someone who does. They are well trained and very respectful.

An employee of this establishment was EXTREMELY rude to me. He acted like a know it all and refused to tell me where something was that I was looking for. I then asked for a manager and he even refused to call his manager. I left after that. If anyone goes here, the tall, high school age, employee with glasses and greasy looking hair is EXTREMELY rude and either needs to be written up or fired immediately. I will NOT be returning here ever.

Can't beat the convenience of a local hardware store. There is always someone available and knowledgeable to help out at this location. If I know they have something I need, I will always go here instead of the larger store so I can be in and out.

River and Mick helped me when I was in a lawn mower crisis! I rented a self-propelled Toro and River was so kind and helpful! When I returned the Toro, I bought the exact same model from Mick. He was wonderful! He gassed and oiled the new Toro, started it up and put it in my trunk. I am so thankful and grateful for the Grafton Ace Hardware!

I’m a builder, Ive brought three screens here for repair. They take too long. Took them almost two weeks to repairs a screen door and window screen, then when I was in store they told me it was done but not priced out by the owner. When I said I need them back soon and asked them to be priced, I got nasty stink eye and attitude from the employee. Will not be bringing anything or buying anything here in the future.

I had to update my doorbell wiring, chime and buttons. Everything was in stock that I needed and I could purchase the wire length to the foot rather than a 100ft spool--less waste, and easy. And I found a (deep, cushioned) spark plug socket in the discount table area with a helpful employee. Thanks!

The helpful hardware folks definitely work here. That's why I keep going back. I can count on someone taking the time to help me, answer my questions, recommend a product, or just wish me a good a good day. It makes a difference when I believe I'm being treated with respect!

Nice people who work there and we like the cleaner look, but REALLY EXPENSIVE.

3/8" x 7" Carriage bolt: Ace: $2.19 Menards: .44 cents.

3/8" Knob: Ace $6.99: Amazon: $1.40

I appreciate the convenience, but why gouge people and send them away?
Ace should rethink their pricing before Farm and Fleet opens up across the street.

If you ever need something oddly specific for a project, they probably have it here. I e never been disappointed. The staff is incredibly helpful as well. Prices aren't always the best, but the serviceore than makes up for it in many cases.

Great people here. I got there too early but they let me come in before they opened to handle a return. It would have definitely made my day worse if I had to come back, and I am supremely grateful for their accommodations. Perhaps a small gesture to them but huge to me!

Grafton Ace has a good selection of products and the prices are okay.
The store is a LOT cleaner and more organized then I'm the past.
I have not needed to rent a tool recently so I will not review this department.

New Management is Horrible gentleman by the name of Mike proceeds to tell me that the sale price is for On-line only. Tried explaining and showing that website says buy now and pick-up. He says sorry that’s On-Line price only.

Call West Bend foe EGO Mower 2135SP Yepp we have it in stock. Price $599, I ask do you have one that is built. He replies no we do not we usually charge $20 but if you can wait a half hour come on in and pick it up.

So off to West Bend I go and I guess I will be shopping at Ace Hardware in West Bend from now on.
