I strongly urge anyone considering hiring Roman Abreu of DFS In-Home Services (DFS) to proceed with extreme caution. My experience with him during a master bathroom renovation has been disheartening and stressful, ultimately leading me to pursue legal action.
At first, Roman's charm can be disarming. He presents himself as a friendly, well-meaning person who often talks about his faith in God. However, don’t be fooled by this facade; it quickly becomes apparent that his demeanor masks unprofessional conduct. I found myself continuously squeezed for more money, despite having a pre-agreed budget. His pleasant act transformed into rudeness and disrespect in moments when I raised concerns about the quality of work being performed in my home.
From the outset, I clearly communicated my desire to have all necessary materials procured before beginning work to avoid delays. However, as of January 17, 2025, my master bathroom remains incomplete, plagued by significant errors throughout the project. The staggering amount of time spent dealing with these issues has drained my finances and caused immense stress and inconvenience.

Some of the major issues I encountered include:

Poor Communication and Contract Fulfillment: There was a total lack of consistency in communication about the sliding door specifications, leading to pressure to accept substitutions that deviated from our initial agreement.

Damaged Property: Roman's crew chipped new tiles during installation, and I discovered that a bathroom door was improperly replaced with a subpar product. Additionally, my landscape was damaged without any effort for restoration.

Failure to Complete Project Professionally: After paying Roman for a second project involving the main bathroom, he has ghosted us. Despite making 3-4 attempts to contact him regarding a refund, he has failed to respond.

Shoddy Workmanship: The renovation work on the master bathroom has been subpar, with issues ranging from an unlevel bathroom floor to improper installations of fixtures. I have had to repeatedly point out glaring oversights that should have been caught by a professional contractor.

Financial Disputes: I faced demands for additional payments without justification, with the overall cost of the project far exceeding our initial agreement. Now, I find myself pursuing compensation for multiple mistakes requiring rectification.
Unfinished and Poor Quality Work: Despite addressing problems, including an improperly aligned shower head and uneven grout work, the quality of workmanship has not improved. A lack of attention to detail raises serious doubts about Roman's capabilities as a contractor.

In summary, my experience with Roman Abreu from DFS In-Home Services has revealed significant issues with his professionalism, reliability, and communication, calling into question his ethics as a contractor. His charm can quickly turn into rudeness when confronted with valid concerns, creating a deeply frustrating environment in your own home.

I am now left with no choice but to take legal action for the issues mentioned above and the financial restitution owed to me.

While remodeling our kitchen, my husband and I discovered a roof leak. We called DFS In-Home Services who gave us recommendations to try and find where the leak was coming from in the roof. My husband was able to determine where the leak was coming from and DFS was able to diagnose the issue. When DFS came out to fix the leak, neither my husband nor I could be there but we were sent pictures and given updates as they completed the repair. We are thankful for their quick work and the updates that were provided throughout the process. Their professionalism and reliability was impressive and I highly recommend them to anyone in need of roofing services. Happy to be leak free!
