We pulled up to the shop a few minutes before their Saturday 2 pm closing time with a tire valve problem. They took the extra time to pull our tire, replace the valve stem, and check for leaks after hours. Great service.

I understand you're busy and I understand some days are better than others. I understood when you needed to call me back (2 hours later) and I was gracious enough to take my business to your shop. I let you be rude to me over the phone because I understand. But, what I don't understand is how you think it's appropriate to be rude to my face when Im the one paying for services. I don't remember discussing a certain drop off time with you (since the intention was the vehicle would stay there until it was done (a couple of days) and I'm still pretty certain we didn't but neither of us will ever know for sure because we had a conversation over the phone, and if you did my apologies for arriving 30 minutes after the designated time. You could have simply said sorry can't help you out today, instead you though turning red in the face, interrupting a conversation and approaching me with a lecture was the right move. No sir.

Simply put, if the guy is having a bad day expect bad customer service. I hope his days get better.

Nice people there to me, gave me the cheapest option (exactly what I wanted) didn’t try to upcharge or sell me anything unnecessary and got my tire changed in like 15 minutes. Perfect experience for what I wanted and needed.

Went to get an inspection on the last day of the month, also last day of year, & they were able to get me in as the last appointment.
We have always had excellent service.

When you get a call about your sister having a flat at a tire shop and said tire shop not taking the time to assist them or even check on them is unreal. They must have not had the greatest of holidays, nonetheless there are many great tire shops around the Harrisonburg area this is not one of them. To reply to numerous other people with the same mantra claiming you are always right or with “Business Owner privilege” is ignorance at its finest, you are a tire shop, tires are your liability. This isn’t the first time per reviews and word of mouth similar events to these have happened. You are better off going elsewhere than dealing with inflated egos.

My sister pulled into their parking lot on her way to work with a flat. No one came out to see if she needed help or assist her. When my dad arrived they told her she wasn’t allowed to have my dad put her spare on her car in the parking lot. They made her drive down the road to put her spare on. They were very rude and unhelpful. Highly unsatisfied and disgusted with their attitudes and behavior.

Positive experience here. $50 for a flat repair so on the pricey side. However they were able to get me in and out quickly. I appreciated that it was a first come first serve basis.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting BlueRidge Tire and I can confidently say that my experience was nothing short of outstanding! From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted with warm smiles and genuine enthusiasm from the staff. Their commitment to exceptional customer service is evident in everything they do. What truly impressed me was how attentive and accommodating the team was. They took the time to understand my needs and went above and beyond to ensure I had a fantastic experience. Whether it was offering personalized recommendations or following up to see if I needed anything else, their dedication made me feel valued as a customer. The atmosphere at BlueRidge Tire also contributed to the overall experience. It’s clear that the management fosters a positive environment, as the staff not only works hard but genuinely enjoys their jobs.

I have gone here numerous times over the years, for ALL sorts of tire issues. Kenny is one of the best you’ll ever come across, and has always been helpful, very fair prices, and really knows his stuff. Just bought my first (old!) BMW: Blue Ridge Tires is the FIRST place I thought about when getting the tires checked, hands down.

Blue Ridge Tire made a recent day better with their attentive service when having to replace a fairly new tire that could not be repaired--another unexpected expense and inconvenience. A pleasant experience and attention from BRT made all the difference. Thank you . . .

Blue Ridge Tire and Kenny were outstanding. As a father of a student at JMU, I got a call at 945pm that the car was not operating normally, being a couple hours away meant singer to put faith in a company I did not know. I was able to contact Blue Ridge Tire, discussed the problem, paid over the phone, and within a couple hours, my daughter had four new tires. The piece I was most impressed, Kenny spoke to me and after hearing all of my concerns took the car out to make sure the issue was fixed. He went above and beyond and I am grateful for the time and compassion he took addressing all of my concerns so my daughter felt comfortable. Great Job!

Called to make an appointment regarding a tire alignment last week and had no issue. I called this week and was put with someone completely different who’s favorite activity was to make snarky comments over the phone.

Didn’t get my answer and was hung up on. Would much rather fork over extra cash elsewhere in Harrisonburg where they atleast learned some manners.

My first visit to Blue Ridge Tire will be my last visit.

The owner seems to like calling people entitled, but I'm not sure he knows what that word means. Believe me when I say that he is absolutely NOT entitled to receiving any business from any self-respecting adults.

I came in for a state inspection and disclosed to the owner, who performed the inspection, that I was informed by another shop of an insignificant issue that failed inspection and I hoped he could pass it, as it was not an actual safety issue.

I didn't make any demands, knowing that every inspection shop is different, but I asked if he was a hardass about inspections, being very transparent that I just needed this to pass inspection. Some mechanics will help you in a pinch if your car issues aren't serious. For some reason, this really set him off, as if it was a huge personal insult. I probably shouldn't have given him any prior information in hindsight, but his reaction was pretty jarring. Especially for a man his age who supposedly has been in the biz for 30 years.

The owner is unbelievably rude and behaves like a manchild with a very touchy temper. He clearly does not have very good control over his emotional impulses and seems to take benign comments as an insult for no apparent reason. I feel sorry for his staff because given the way he treats paying customers in need, I'm sure he is a massive headache to work with on a daily basis. He needs to retire or get prescribed some blood pressure medication.

To the credit of the owner, (what little credit is due) he did show me an exhaust leak that the last shop totally missed. However, he made sneering comments suggesting that I was some kind of fool because the other shop told me something else was wrong that he didn't find to be in need of repair.

He then proceeded to rant about why he can't pass my inspection even though I wasn't protesting his decision at all, because I understood he couldn't pass due to the exhaust leak.

He complained about people leaving bad Google reviews for incoherent reasons, but clearly he can't seem to reconcile with the fact that he goes on completely uncalled for tirades directed at customers, insulting and demeaning them.

It's pretty clear after my experience that every other negative review was 100% telling the truth about the owner, his rudeness, his indignant nature, and his complete lack of customer service abilities.

For somebody who claims to be totally honest and transparent, he sure can't seem to stop proclaiming over and over again about how he's always right and sooooo honest and transparent. If you feel the need to tell people that over and over and over again, maybe you're not actually all that honest or transparent.

He may have been right about my car, but his reaction to me not simply taking him at his word about his initial suspicion that I had an exhaust leak and wanting him to verify that was simply unacceptable, unprofessional, and amazingly immature for a man of his age and experience.

I wasn't going to write a negative review if he was just a normal level of stressed out and being short with me...I can understand that on a short-staffed Saturday morning. Nope, he seemed to think me expressing my dismay at not having a clean inspection on the car I NEED to get to work and take my sick mother to her doctors appointments was a personal slight against him.

I made it ABUNDANTLY clear that my disappointment had nothing to do with him and I didn't say a foul word against the man, but the owner's insecurities and hot temper unraveled in my direction anyways.

You don't want negative reviews? How about trying not to give cause for negative reviews?

How about reflecting on the way you treat people and interact with them?

I know this review will make your blood boil, and I will pray for your family and employees. I genuinely look forward to seeing how you try to twist this story as you have done with other negative reviews.

Or...you can surprise me. A genuine apology for your behavior is all it would take for me to delete this review. Take care.

My Tacoma needed new tires, Kenny was very knowledgeable about the type of tires I was looking for. Was given very many options for my application. I got 4 tires, alignment and 4 new TPMS sensors and all is working great. The ride is night and day difference from my old tires. Highly recommend Blue Ridge Tire. Thanks guys!!

I bought tubes for two flats on a golf cart, thinking I would be able to change them, but was unable to. Blue Ridge took them for us, advised against tubing them in favor of buying new tires, which I opted against, given the application, and the fact that I had already bought the tubes.

They completed the work in a reasonable timeframe, but when I returned to pick up the wheels, only one of them held air.

The front desk guy proceeded to explain that they usually wipe a hand around the inside of a tire to look for anything poking through that might puncture a tube, but that it's possible something was missed. So far, totally fine. I asked him to do something slightly unorthodox, mistakes may have been made. All within the realm of the understandable.

I tried to ask him, then, if there was a chance it was something simple like valve core that could be leaking, that wouldn't require unmounting the tire again, but accidentally said 'stem' instead of 'core' and he got very testy with me, repeatedly saying that the valve stem was part of the tube, which I obviously know, and telling me how much experience he has changing tires. I was confused and flustered, he was annoyed and curt.

They charged me $70 labor to tube those two tires, using my own tubes, so now I am ~$90 deep, have one good wheel, and just a general bad feeling about the whole experience.

If you go in with an open wallet and want something straightforward, they are probably as good as anyone else, but they are NOT a decent replacement for Big L Tire on the north end of Harrisonburg if you have unusual, small, or agricultural needs.

I like having one place I trust for everything tire-related, from trailers to ATV's to our four vehicles. This was my first experience with Blue Ridge, and unfortunately, will probably be my last.

This is a two-star review instead of one, only because I can't guarantee that the tube was good to begin with. It was new, so it should have been, but I want to be as fair as possible, here. They said upfront that they didn't like working with tires/tubes that weren't from their suppliers, and I understand that. Nevertheless, it was a very different experience than what Big L had allowed me to come to expect over the many many years we have done business with them.

LEXUS OWNERS BEWARE, one of the owners does not like having to deal with the Lexus special lug key & will ream you out for having a Lexus when his employee does not return it to you. And this 1-star review (if there were a zero-star I would have given him that) deals solely with this owner.
I read his response. It is interesting that he watches for negative reviews, responds calling them liars, "entitled" & rewrites what happened to present himself in a positive light & continue to insult the customer. I suggest he take anger management & customer service training instead of spending so much time on Google review trying to defend his actions, to which he has no defense, he is rude, crude & socially inept.
My review:
Today, after writing a check to Blue Ridge Tire Inc. for four new tires to the tune of $750, I asked the owner if the lug key was returned to its location. At the beginning of the service, I showed the employee where the lug key was & requested he return it to that spot when complete. The owner looked in the spot & it was not there. He rummaged around my car to find the lug key & could not find it. I shared with him that I had told the employee to return the lug key in the spot he had gotten it from, which set the owner off, he got agitated & yelled at me as if I was the problem. Some of his comments, “I already apologized twice, my employee is gone to lunch. He questioned me “did my employee have to remove all this to get to the key?” I responded no, he lifted the cover and pulled it out. I was undoing a cord that had a car jack secured in my trunk so I could remove the tire cover to see if the employee left the piece somewhere in the tire compartment.
Instead of helping me he started to yell at me that if Lexus owners knew what a hassle these special lug keys are for tire companies, they would have the nuts drilled out of the tires & have regular parts installed He continued, “Lexus owners come with their trunks packed with their summer trip luggage & whatever else & they make life so difficult for tire repair companies – etc.” At which point I had enough & shared with him in the hopes he would stop his horrible nasty barrage that I had just that morning had to put my cat down & would appreciate it if he would be empathetic – to no avail. Apparently having to put your pet cat down is nothing for him to be sensitive about, but something to make fun of me about.
He then went into the shop to try to locate the lug key. I suggested he call his employee to ask where he left it (common sense). He returned with the lug key saying the employee left it in whatever tool that he attached the tires with. He started to say I’d like to give you some advice to which I interrupted and returned to him in tone & manner how rude he wa telling him he had no right to yell at me the way he did, that if he doesn’t like Lexus cars then he should have told me from the beginning & sent me somewhere else, not have me spend $750 & then ream me out for a problem created by his employee. The ironic thing is he then said, “you are yelling at me!” My response was I was giving him what he gave me. He then made a snide comment about my telling him I had to put my cat down that morning & my response was I told that to you to give you an indication of how bad I was feeling in the hope you would stop yelling. Apparently to him being upset about having to put your elderly cat down is something to make fun of you about.
He went inside. I returned everything to the trunk, put the lug key where it belonged. During which time I thought about the problem created by his establishment, his lack of effort to help me, his yelling at me & criticizing all Lexus owners. When I was done I went inside & told him that he had no right to treat a customer like that. He tried to say something to which I responded I did not want to hear anything more and left. And yes, I yelled at him & he earned every word.
Never will I step in there again.Looking at the high number of other 1-star reviews, rude treatment of customers is common for this guy.

Did a state inspection, and now my alignment is off, called about it and the representative was very rude. After taking awful language on the phone from the rep awhile trying to remain calm, it seems to have got me nowhere. Would not recommend this business. Firestone and jiffy lube has done a better job. Also they will pressure you to buy services for your car and is an aggressive when it comes to their sales, making a very uncomfortable environment for the customer.

Adding comment here since owner commented. No, I did not leave a negative review because you wouldn't see me. I left the negative review because of how disrespectful and rude you were towards not just me, today, but to my husband when he first brought the vehicle in. We let it go the first time. According to many other reviews it seems like a common response. Maybe someone needs to reflect on how they speak to customers. And no sir, I am not entitled, great name calling, seems very professional.

I don't know how good their vehicle work is. I never given a chance to find out because of how rude and curt their man at the desk, Kenny, was.

I was describing my brake problem, and Kenny asked, "Do you know if it's the front or rear brakes?" I probably took about 20 seconds to describe what I was experiencing and then said, "So I guess I'm not sure if it's the front or rear." Kenny replied in an annoyed tone, "[What I asked] was a simple question. So, you don't know which one it was." Really? That's how you reply to customers?

When we were working on a time that I could bring my truck in, he suggested Thursday morning, because they were booked solid on Tuesday and Wednesday. Fair enough. When I replied, "Man, I'm going to be out of town by Thursday," Kenny replied in an annoyed and almost disgusted voice, "Well, you should have told me that in the first place" and then said that we could have avoided this whole phone call in the first place if I had told him that up front. Really? Really?? Without letting me take a breath he quickly said, "Sorry. Bye." and immediately hung up on me.

I guess they were busy. But I don't know of a good company that lets busyness give permission to be rude.

Since I'm from out of town, a friend of mine from New Market recommended that I use Blue Ridge (a drive of over 20 minutes away). I'll be informing my friend to stop recommending Blue Ridge to people.

Was travelling from NY and after a lot of driving on gravel roads, got a pretty big rock stuck in one of the tires. 4 big name shops around the university turned me down and did not want to patch up or sell me new tires because they weren't "standard" tires. Kenny had me back on the road within couple of hours. A+ guy and A+ crew. Great prices compared to what I usually pay. This shop honestly saved the day and the 2000 mile roadtrip.

Called looking for a used tire to get me by for my business vehicle till I had time to change all 4. Spoke with a guy named “Kenny” who came off as rude and disrespectful. Felt the need to describe how most clients aren’t that smart to know tire sizes. Anyways, tried to sell me a new tire and while I was thinking about just getting two new, a client came into their store and he was really quick to rudely say, “Are you gonna buy this tire or not! I have a client that just walked in!” Pretty much hung the phone up on me. I have heard nothing but unprofessional business ethics from multiple other small businesses I do work for. I won’t ever have anything to do with this place even if they sold tires for $20 a piece.

Traveling from Maryland to Tennessee late on a Friday afternoon I had a tire failure and, after a quick Google search, found Heishmans Blue Ridge Tire. Kenny was extremely helpful not only in selection of a new set of tires but in getting me serviced and back on the road in very short order. Have been myself and have friends that I have referred to Blue Ridge Tire for years, but I lost all respect for this business this evening. I'm not sure if management has changed or what has happened, but I have never been addressed so rudely on the phone by Kenny. Before I could even finish simply asking a question Kenny accused me of yelling and clearly wanted to dismiss me rather than help me. He never even told me if he had the tire size I needed. The gentleman that initially answered the phone was pleasant and was trying to assist me, but once Kenny took the call it was all downhill. I drove across town and had my new tires installed within 30 minutes. Needless to say I will not return to Blue Ridge Tire nor recommend to friends in the future. Sorry to see a local business go downhill like it has.

Called in with a question, spoke with Kenny. He was extremely helpful, and very professional. I really appreciate his time. 10/10 great experience.

I've never written a Google review before. However, my experience in Blue Ridge TIre today prompted me to do so. I've been a satisfied customer of this store for 21 years and was in the store today for a state inspection and a set of new tires.

The showroom is small, and even though they were discussing it quietly, while I waited I overheard that the owners were upset about a Google review that had just been left for them today. Something about somebody who came in for a state inspection and then claimed that something done during the inspection had messed up the car which now had an alignment problem. The owner, Kenny, was upset and actually left the store for a time to go down to another local business which had supposedly dealt with this customer afterwards and blamed Blue Ridge Tire for some fault.

When he returned, I heard Kenny tell his brother that the other store had in fact not blamed Blue Ridge Tire for anything and was upset that their store's name had been used in this way.

I know this is getting long, but bear with me. In a past life (about 20 years ago), I was a VA State Inspector for Hartman Dodge. I do mechanical work on the side for my friends still, and have my own lift and tools at my personal shop. The only things that I take my vehicles to someone else's shop for are state inspections and tire changes, because I'm not equipped to do either of those things at my home shop. My point is that I'm very familiar with the state inspection routine and vehicle maintenance in general, all the way up to and including engine and transmission replacement and electrical diagnostics. This, by the way, is significantly more in-depth work than is performed by a shop such as Blue Ridge Tire who mainly focuses on consumable replacements.

The ONLY WAY that a state inspection could "alter" the alignment of a vehicle is if the lug nuts weren't tightened when they put the wheels back on. You'd know that right away because, well, your wheels would fall off while driving down the road. The parts where alignment adjustments are made are NEVER touched during a state inspection. It is not part of the inspection process and frankly would add a lot of time to a job which already doesn't pay the shop's going rate. There is no reason for any mechanic, including a state inspector, to ever touch your caster, camber, or toe adjustments -- the only one who ever loosens these bolts is an alignment specialist or someone who is replacing certain suspension parts.

I hope this is crystal clear. I hate to see a shop be blamed for something it did NOT DO. The people at Blue Ridge Tire have taken care of me for over two decades and it is the absolute least that I can do to offer an offsetting review of one which sounds completely fabricated.

This whole Google / Yelp / whatever review process must be a real pain for businesses...they have no control over what people write and honestly, people like me and the other 5 customers who came and went in the store while I was there will almost never sit down and write a review for a positive experience. But today I decided that it needed to be done, and I apologize for all of the times, multiple times a year, when I've set foot in BRT's store and never written a review. In a way I guess that makes me part of the problem. Here's hoping that this review makes up somewhat for two decades of being lazy about it.

Thank you to Kenny and his workers who have always treated me right.

Pathetic service! Let me start off by saying there are Tire and Auto centers in town that DO care about service and quality. Blue Ridge Tire and Auto does not.

Originally my girlfriend and I dropped her car off for a State Inspection. One day previous to this experience with Blue Ridge Auto, we had the vehicle serviced and restored by another company (Precision Tune Auto Care). We paid some money, but it was timely, professional and the car was in perfect condition. The headlights were restored, we replaced a tire and most importantly we had the front aligned. We were very very pleased. In an effort to get the car inspected in time we scheduled our inspection at Blue Ridge the next day.

Our appointment was at 3pm, (Friday) and we arrived a little early. Kenny Heishman regrettably informed us that it would not be a long wait. We proceeded to wait over an hour for a scheduled state inspection. Disappointing but the least of our concerns. We were also very unhappy that no one wore a mask. We were the only people, even among staff and Kenny. Foolish decision.

Honestly the moment we pulled out of the driveway I felt the steering wheel tilt right hard when driving straight. In hindsight, maybe I should have turned around and made a stink right there. However I am young and was inexperienced; I’ve never had a state inspection mess a car up. So my girlfriend and I decided to wait a day or two, and see how it drives. Maybe we were imagining it!

We were not. We waited for our next day off (not even a week later) and gave Kenny a call to see what to do. We called just to inform and ask what the next step should be, seeing how much money we had already put into fixing the car, we didn’t want to waste more on the problems we already had fixed. Kenny was not very comprehensive. We called not to make accusations, be rude, or gain anything. We have the proof we need to show that Blue Ridge did this. Yet they did not meet us with dignity or respect. Kenny disregarded our direct information, claimed to “not know much about cars”, and when prompted to remember our experience he said he had no idea who we were. I’m beyond frustrated at this point. Kenny began to threaten to hang up on me, and was dismissing anything I said.

After pointing out that Kenny had no right to speak to a paying customer this way, he hung up on me. DISGUSTING. A letter to the Better Business Bureau serving Central Virginia is being written. After speaking with Kenny personally, we called Precision Tune Auto and they had us come right over. They took a look for FREE, was very understanding of our situation and took care of us right away. The technician there told us “it was so bad we couldn’t even document it”. They confirmed our suspicions and took care of a problem that wasn’t even theirs. Nevertheless I have all the documentation I need to prove my point. I’m disappointed with Blue Ridge Auto however I’m glad we only spend $20 there. Never again

I bought 4 tires from Kenny in October, 2020, BF Goodrich Advantage TA sport 94, for my Toyota Avalon. After just 3 MONTHS and 10,767 miles both front tires wore down to the wires and one went flat while I was driving. They are completely trashed with almost 60,000 miles left on the warranty. UPSET of course, as I could have been injured, I brought in the tire to show him since my car was not usable, and he blamed me for not rotating the tires every 5,000 miles. I have had that car 7 years and put on new tires every year and NEVER had a problem with tires like that!!!! He didn't even offer to call BF Goodrich and try to get replacements under the warranty.
DO NOT GO THERE. GO somewhere that they will help fix the problem of defective tires, not blame you for missing one rotation! My trusted tire store/auto shop is helping solve the problem and called BF Goodrich for me!

I always try to give my business to local businesses but my experience today will keep me from ever returning to Blue Ridge Tire. When I arrived for an inspection of my car, no-one was wearing a mask. So I told them I would not be staying for my appointment. A call from the owner turned into a lecture about how everyone doesn't share the same beliefs as me. Thanks for that enlightening fact!

Service questions

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
